Not the best night of racing for me but most of that was due to poor car selection on my part. Overall it was a good day though as I got a piece of good news a little while ago. It think I'll go back to my balanced lineup strategy instead of actually looking for the best cars.

Thats it, sign me off the DTC, I'm not racing in this anymore.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck.

Moving right along...

So what cars did people use on race 1? Also what lap times were people getting?

Bowler and I used the Honda Fit W '01. CVT was $$$ up the hill.

Results:
@fizzer - 53
88GTA - 51
@Nicktune - 51
@kendawg - 50
@Kgffy - 48
@JLBowler - 47
@Jayc2k - 44
@JoeW - 43
@Racerdude890 - 36
@GTP_unleashed - 11

I'll try to enter the cars in the spreadsheet tonight but it won't be until late. I have all four replays this time.

@fizzer gets to pick the PP total or qualifying track for next Tuesday. I will pick whichever is left.

And we need to stop @fizzer from winning! How does this keep happening!

It's called being consistent. He didn't win a single race but he stayed on the track and finished consistently.

I figured out where I would have finished had I not crashed all those times and I would had one less point than fizzes for a second place. So, staying on the track is somewhat important.

Consistency is key, and as bowler mentioned last night, a balanced PP lineup. Winning one, then losing the next isn't as good for points as top 5s all night.

For a PP split, I look for cars right around the midpoint and try not to go more than 10pp above or below. Then I try to pick oddballs cuz it's fun, but balancing out the PP helps.

PP for next week:
Split 1: 850
Split 2: 1160

Wayyyy too fast pp

This seems like a great event. I'll try to get in on it at some point. I'm getting into GT6 online a bit late, but this seems like the perfect thing to get me going. 👍

I recognize your name from somewhere. Probably from way back in my public room days.

Welcome ;)

Have u guys ever done really low pps like in the mid to high 200's?

I just ran a 305pp Pirate Wagon (Suzuki Wagon R RR RRRRRRRR '98). I don't think I've run anything lower than that here.

The reason is because there are not many cars to choose from and the drivetrains in that area are limited.

@dylansan has been around (when not in school) - at least SNAIL wise - for ... a year and a half or two... maybe more?

You may also have known him before, though.

Qualifying and first race next week will be at Apricot Hill Reverse with the following settings:

Time - 18:00
Time Progression - 50
Weather at Start - 0
Weather Changeability - 0
Surface Water at Start - 0
Grip - Real

That's probably it. Senility coming early...
Don't worry, I haven't actually been involved in S.N.A.I.L. for at least a year or two. Hopefully I'll have a chance to get involved again soon.

So are the PP choices final for this week? They're higher than I expected but if that's what we're doing I'd like to prepare a bit.

Fizzer won so he gets to pick the PP for the week. It's at the high end but nothing too silly. Plenty of racecars at the high split to choose from if you want the extra down force on the sport soft tires.

Real men do not need downforce;)

There's at least one car a few cars in the lower bracket which have downforce, and I think I might use one. Beetle Cup Car anyone? :D

Here's what I have so far, though I haven't done any testing:

Volkswagen New Beetle Cup Car :: FF :: 414
Honda S2000 '03 :: FR :: 436

Pagani Zonda C12S 7.3 :: MR :: 581
Nissan CALSONIC SKYLINE GT-R '93 :: 4W :: 576

I wasn't going to use a racecar for the second bracket but the Skyline is dear to my heart.

Any suggestions? I can't really make any judgements until I test them out, but I imagine these cars would be pretty nice to drive.

Edit: It may even be possible to use two race cars in the lower bracket if you get it right. It's tempting but I think an S2000 will be a better choice.

My track pick is in so you can test your first split there. You will have to use an FF for the first two races, obviously.

The spreadsheet has been updated so the 5% PP range will be:
850 split - 404pp to 446pp (sports hard tires)
1160 split - 551pp to 609pp (sports soft tires)

Testing:
FF - Honda Civic Type R (EP) '04 421pp
FR - Chevrolet IROC-Z '89 429pp
4WD - Nissan Skyline GT-R TC (R32) 567pp
MR - McLaren MP4 12C '10 589pp

@jobyone

Just a question about the sign up sheet. If I sign up is that final, or can I change cars and edit my sign up to reflect that?

Also, I notice my name is not included in the drop down boxes, which I assume is because you haven't yet added me to the list of drivers. Just letting you know officially that I am planning to race this week. :D

I will get your name added. The lineup does not have to be final although we do encourage it be there before we start.

Is the first race with the 850pp split?
yea 850 is first:)

@jobyone Just letting you know that the Nissan mm-R Cup Car does not reach 439PP with oil change, it only has 430. Throws a bit of a kink in my plans, but actually it should work out pretty well...

Holy 🤬... Speaking of giving away secrets @JLBowler :lol:

I'll be back for the next event. Vacation almost over...
