◆ SNAIL [GT1 Championship] Series

Anyone else interested in mock race this evening. Trying to start one same time as normal practice start times.

I've been thinking about ways to help keep things more balanced. No matter what we do to keep the cars equal, there will be car/driver/track combos that astound us. Driving w kg in practice, we switched cars for laguna, and we ran similarly. I propose each season you must trade cars at least 2x. When and with who is open. This could be a fun structure.

Good idea above. Here is another one.

However, cudo's to the guys who do the testing to try and equalize the cars. They have done a great job so far. Yes, I might be a full second off the fastest lap of the fastest driver, but in the race it may be 0.8 or so lap after lap. But remember - if we had the same cars, those guys are normally faster than I am anyway by about the same margin.

One thing that the BTC series is doing is to adjust the performance through the season and therefore narrowing it down as the season progresses. So, by making the faster drivers a little heavier and/or reducing power and the slower drivers a little lighter and or increasing power as the season goes along might make the last few races interesting. I would love to get a few extra horses to get higher straight line speed. I can sorta keep up with the S2000 and the GT86 in the corners, but those straights are absolutely killing me....

So, start the season with Pro and Pro-Am class. Look at fast lap performance during the first race, talk to the drivers and find out if they need horsepower or weight adjustments and let a panel of judges discuss the input and make adjustments for the next race, and so on (Can't look at the end of race time difference only because there will always be someone that spun out or were involved in a close battle that slowed them down). I'm sure we will be much closer by the end of the season because now you also try to equalize individually and not only the class.

Watching replays last night, there's several cars that have big advantage with tire wear, not sure if that's something we can control with bop. Also I'm happy keeping up with guys that are in my division pace, I don't expect to keep up with d1 guys and bop should not be set for guys to keep d1 pace, my biggest issue is Im wearing tires a lot faster then everyone and its ki lling my motivation, that won't change when we're running these very grippy tires and racing tires nxt season on production cars not going to help. This series not about me so I don't want to ruin the fun for 99% of the guys. Hoping to see nxt season cars soon so I can test to see what cars give me better tire wear.

The more balanced the cars get the fewer drivers have a shot and the same fast guy or 2 will always win. The cars being different and not absolutely equal is what keeps each new season exciting and provides opportunities for new people to be up front. Spec on sunday is perfectly equal and already exists.

We already have the abilty to swap cars at the end of each "season".

There are series like this out there and they have the same issue we are having. It's really hard to balance the cars no matter what!
As for the S2000 and especially the 86gt we underestimated their power when setting the BoP but we lock the BoP when the car list is announced. Which is why I have a test team diligently testing to try and get the fastest laps as close as we can.

I apologize for this when setting the BoP we took into consideration the prior season (rednose races) and detuned the R8 to much. If we get back to the V6 class we should be a lot closer for the BoP.

I'm still confused about your tire wear Kg. The RX8 gets the best tire wear and fuel milage for me. Might be that deft car control using your DS3 controller being too hard on your tires.

Yeah it's weird, that Mercedes I used I was a lot closer with tire wear to u guys, hopefully nxt season car list comes out soon so I have to test.

The car list is very similar to last time we ran the v8's just with adjusted values for bop and a couple new entries. Mustang boss is gone so sorry if you had your eye on last place.

I guess I'll start on the race recaps.

I had zero practice up until about 90 minutes before race start and I put in 25 minutes of time to see tire wear and fuel usage. I used the same tune and set up as the last race I did, which was Daytona, other than changing the top speed.

My plan was to 2-stop and start on SM tires for 7 laps, then go to SS for the final two stints, but I didn't get into the pits soon enough to perform the tire change before the qualifying time ended, so I started on SS tires. At that point I figured I would run 12-13 laps, then change to SM tires for 7, and finish on SS tires. But, tire wear was much better during the race than it was in my brief test, so I ran about 30 minutes on SS tires, then the final 20 minutes on SM.

I caught a couple lucky breaks early on in the race and was able to move up from a starting position of 9th to 5th within two laps. This was mostly because of others being on SM tires or getting caught up by those with SM tires. I was able to move up to 2nd through first round pit stops by others and eventually fell back to 7th after my own pit stop. As others took their second pit stop, I moved up to 5th until @JCH8r overtook me on the next to last lap and pushed me back to 6th. Overall, I'm really pleased with my finish as I didn't expect to be anything but near the back of the field.

I don't remember who eventually hosted, but thanks to @racingchamp30, @lllTrick and @Die_Birdy_Die for doing the duties.

That's awesome Jc there is also a q and a with Ian bell I posted and asked about if our league could work within p cars 2

If the new p cars allows for league play. I think it will be time to move on! When is pcars2 going to be released. ( sorry should have inquired being lazy. Atm

Everyone breathe. Thats a long time and we wont know how the game is until after it launches and get our hands on it. Right now there is no variety and controls are horrendous in pcars one. They tried to run 2 cars in pits ( focus and lancer ) and couldn't get just 2 cars balanced and competitive with each other, the lancer was seconds faster. So lets just wait and see what we have to work with and how we can utilize it before we make big plans.

What a time to be alive though, pcars 2 and gran turismo competing with each other directly will only be good for everyone. Gran turismo and forza have been able to ignore each other due to not competing directly but now they will both have to get serious and fight for their market share and legacy. To the victor go the leagues.

PCars2 creative director Andy Tudor was available for a QandA about PCars2 on Twitter. I asked what they would do to help leagues deal with BOP issues. He tweeted: Cars are scrutineered within their class using vehicle data, lap timings and telemetry. Every car should be competitive therefore.

My thoughts:

1. He's wrong.

2. That means a very limited number of cars and already completely set up.

3. This very much reflects modern GT racing, where it's become a case of just buying the GT3 or GT4 version from a manufacturer and going racing with little in the way of private team development.
