Hey fellow SNAILs, I thought you might enjoy a photo we took after the competition of some current and old time SNAILs that made it to finals. The crazy part was that Joey was wearing his SNAIL shirt under his GT Academy shirt all day Sat. Wish I had thought of that.

From left to right: Martin20az, Reude108 (not currently racing in SNAIL), Brianm3, JoeyFast22, GumballCGT, dgafaboutany1420, Hillracing.

What's crazy is the number of SNAILs that made it to Nationals as there were two more that weren't near by when we took the pic. There were even one or two guys who told me they were closet SNAILs (registered under another name).

Yep, Kyle Busch should/will tell Jimmy Johnson that he is clear.
Are you kidding?
It is the passing car's responsibility to complete the pass cleanly. If there is an incident due to contact on exit ..... penalty, pure and simple.
Maybe I am expecting too much. If I am, please accept my apology ..... sincerely.
TEX

No, his spotter would. We don't have spotters. That would be nice though, but precluding that we can work with what we have. We are playing a simulation, but we cannot expect a 1:1 relationship with reality. If someone talking on the mic during a race bothers you, nicely ask that person to be quiet, or turn your headset off.

. Seriously, if you're not turning your head before a lane change in real life you're just asking to run into someone. Same thing applies in GT5.

Last night at Monza, there was excessive lane changing as everyone trying to jock for position.

Some change line very abruptly right before the 1st curve and some changed lines multiple times blocking other coming at a higher rate of speed.

I did the right thing by avoiding contact and ended up in the kittly litter but I thought you could only change line / defend once...

If I was to HIT someone who had change line for a second time how would that be viewed?

The problem is not that the person talks.. but the excesive backgrund noise heard all over; I am fortunate that I have the PS3 head set that allows me to mute the VOICE without interfering with sound of the game itself; but I am sure that not everyone has that ability.

When I started SNAIL and did not have the head phones and had all sound coming through the receiver, sometimes the VOICE and NOISE would draw out the game sounds itself. I am sure that some may have this same problem.

But agreed with you as well, I had resorted to mute some noise offenders; but you can only do that when in the lobby; not once the race has started. Just my cents.

You can set your line out of a corner. You can move once on the straight and then you can move back to set up for the next corner. Anything more than that would be considered excessive blocking or weaving.

Since my first entry into SNAIL Racing, I have turned off the Chat and the Mic during Qualifying and the Race - because it is so distracting. Being "advanced in years" I have found that I am not very "multi-task" or "multi-focus" capable any more. Sooooo, it's just me and the car trying to get around without a major mistake.

I didn't mean for the discussion to sound sarcastic or bitter ...... just expressing a point of view. Sorry if it ruffled any feathers.
I'll draw back into the garage and wait for next Thursday - when I venture out again.

it would probably end with someone getting a penalty for illegal lane change. I find it curious to watch or be part of a struggle for the draft on a straight. Two racers neck and neck trying to be the one behind the front car. Fun stuff.

No one drew blood, whatcha slinking back for? What good is a debate if no one counter argues? no point in getting feelings hurt, pretty sure, no matter how "abrasive" someone sounds, I'm sure no one is seriously being a 🤬. Unless someone asks about combos....:ouch:

sorry about the double post.

Here's the basic difference between real (I hesitate to use NASCAR in this regard) racing and what we do. Money. NASCAR and every other professional series have real dollars, paying real jobs, on the line, every time their cars go out.

There is nothing wrong with the passed driver advising the passing driver that he's in the clear to move.

Nothing wrong.

Yes, it is the passing driver's responsibility to make it clean and contact free, but once you're sure you've been passed clean, is it any skin off your a$$ to reciprocate the courtesy? Is it really that important to hide your position from your opponents? In this arena?

The mics give us the capability, beyond what the "pros" use their radios for. And what do we use it for? To help us race clean? Everything but?

Your call gentleman.

What an awesome pic! Thanks for sharing! I noticed that Joey had a white shirt sticking out in this pic as well, so I was wondering if it was his S.N.A.I.L. shirt. Too funny!

Point taken - Understand the difference
Thank you for making it clear.
Guess I better practice using the ears, voice, feet, arms, hands and fingers.
Div-5 ...... here I come (said in a jovial manner, Gentlemen)

Rallywagon mentioned "Schmiggz came back with a vengeance"... Well i did but the vengeance could have been greater if i didn't screwed completely the first RUF race. After starting in 3rd, I stupidly hit the barriers on the first chicane and dropped down till last position.
A 3rd place, 4th or even 5th in that particular race would be enough for me to win D3 last night.
Until I finish polishing this little big mistakes that I still make, I better not dream with D2 just yet.

I like using the mic during the race to communicate with the other drivers. Sometimes a driver will wonder if they have damaged another driver and it is an easy thing to ask.

I will tell another driver when I went off on my own and it was not from anything they did so they will not mistakenly make an on track concession they do not owe me.

Communication is a plus, blathering chatter is not. I think I need to heed my own advice as well...

I am very easily distracted by background noise or chatter during a race. I turn my mic completely off from the time we start until after the final race is over. And even then sometimes I will continue to chat by typing rather than turning my mic on.

Luckily with my mic turned off during the race, if someone else starts talking it's drowned out by the game noise.

+1 last night I ran wide in the last turn at Grand Valley, put myself in the grass next to the straight, but I was still running at race pace. If it hadn't been for driver X (I'm bad with names) I wouldn't have known when I was clear to come back on.

Also, last night I finally gave in and set my track map to fixed on car and put the zoom on 2. I don't like that I had to, but it is a very good tool to have and is much better than I thought it would be. I've NEVER had to do this, but ever since a recent update I can only hear the car directly in front of me. When we line up to qualify I can't hear my own car not even from the chase view! Anyone else notice this of am I taking crazy pills?

That's awesome Hill 👍

Thanks for taking the time to do that guys and once again congrats to all the S.N.A.I.L.s that got to compete this past weekend

As part of my avid curiosity, I enjoy a lot seing here and there the faces of the people i hang around with over the internet world, more specifically, the crowd I race with on GT5.
It was really cool to see how Gumball, Hill, Martin or DGAF look like. For that matter, I leave here a pic of me with my 3 sisters so you guys can finally see who the **** is Schmiggz :D :D :D.

ps: I hope i posted it correctly, ahahahahah!

Better. Also, are any of them single? ;)

Here are the unofficial results from our league night on August 25, 2013

If you believe that another driver exhibited poor racecraft or is guilty of an S.N.A.I.L. OLR violation, please file an incident report by 10pm Eastern / 7pm Pacific tonight. Be sure to follow the instructions precisely or your submission might not be addressed! If you're undecided on whether or not you should file an incident, please read this. Also keep in mind that an incident report isn't supposed to be an argument. Here are some good tips on how to make sure things stay civil and respectful. 👍

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
ROUND 2 - RUF CTR2 '96 @Autodromo Nazionale Monza (No Chicanes)

Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since EAO-HarleyMan wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most votes was:
ROUND 3 - Lexus LFA '10 @Road Course - Indy

This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since Bandit0627 gets Prize B, he gets to decide which part of the combo is replaced and what replaces it.

Price C goes to GTP_XR_RACER_11 so he gets any gift car ticket listed here (by posting his selection here on the thread).

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your car and/or track selection until all racing complaints are filed and you are given the "all clear" to announce your selection. It's also important that you review our Car/Track History so that you can see a complete history of how many times we've raced each car and track (just scroll to the right of that tab). Please remember that originality is always appreciated. Therefore, picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required).

Car Selection Guidelines
Dealership Cars - The maximum price for a selected car is $5M, but can be increased to $10M if it is selected within 24 hours of this results post).
OCD Cars - As discussed here, there will no longer be a restriction on when OCD cars can be selected. They are are now available for selection every week. However, OCD cars $1M and above are not available for selection during the second week of the OCD batch's availability (click here to check). In other words, if you select a car from the OCD during it's second week of availability, it must cost less than $1M.
DLC Cars - The only DLC cars available for selection are the one is the Racing Car Pack and any DLC car that is FREE and currently available in the PlayStation Store.

Track Selection Guidelines
Any non-DLC track can be selected as long as a single lap with the car combo'd with it would not take more than five minutes to complete (don't select anything that includes the Nurburgring's Nordschleife)
Any track that's in the Course Pack or the Twin Ring Motegi Pack are also available for selection.

GTP_Rberinghs is not blocked by anyone in D2, check here, here and here.
Apparently it takes quite some time for servers to update. If someone had him the blocked list, but took him off before the event, it's still possible for PD servers not to let him in.
So the relevant question to ask is not "is XX on anyone's blocked list right now", but "did anyone have him on the blocked list at any point over the past few days". It still might be an unrelated glitch though.
