Regarding the mini map, I set it to 3 or 4 during qualifying and 1 or 2 for the actual race. During qualifying the higher setting makes spacing EASY for me, if there is another car on the map, it means I am too close.

F.E.S.S.S? LOL. One question though. For those of us whom don't race in the other series, this won't count against our overall Sunday standing right? What I mean is, your not planning on pooling all of the points for all of the series together right? At the end of the month I can still be the Sunday season champ without racing the other leagues?

Don't worry too much. There was no escargot last night. There were some regular practice races last night which were quite enjoyable and confidence-building. ;)
Yea there was some good racing last night. One race at Autumn Ring was brilliant. I think there were 7 of us nose to tail the whole race. I saved the replay but have not watched it yet but I feel a few pictures may need to be taken.

Last night was good. I don't think there is a combo this week that I don't like. The r8 is a blast to drive too. I love the looseness of it. Although it did bite me coming out of the chicane before the front straight. Gotta be sure to have good brake control through there, else you will be nose first in the outside wall.

Correct. This new championship is completely separate from the Sunday night championship. The only tie between the two is that drivers will only be competing in this new championship against the same drivers that they compete against on Sunday nights. Hopefully, this will encourage more drivers across the entire league to participate in our non-Sunday events. 👍

btw, what does F.E.S.S.S. stand for?

am I completely overlooking it or, or does it not say what race is starting tonight for the friday enduro?

It doesn't say it because I asked if anyone wanted to run the race that was cancelled last week, but no one has responded.

I have fun running the enduro races, but it is somewhat discouraging when by lap 15-30 I am getting lapped without making errors. Wish there were a way to prevent that from happening, but that would require either ballast or parity upon qualifying to make the races fair, and people could easily just sandbag their times.

Maybe class racing (like D1-D3 do gt500 and D4-D5 do LM) just an idea

I like this idea a lot. IIRC, dabneyd has wanted to to multi-class racing in the past as well. You might have luck if you press him on it. :sly:

Of course for this to work, we'd need enough D4 and D5 drivers to participate (which was the entire purpose of this new championship idea in the first place). 💡

well ik ill be there

I miss diabolic's Friday night races, have to say :(

You mean because of the low boost? That was indeed a fun (although very artificial) way to keep the pack together. As long as you didn't get hung up on the unrealistic part of it, those races were very enjoyable from beginning to end. They were also a great way to refine your racecraft since there were constantly cars attacking and defending you! 👍

How about M.A.D.E for a title. Monthly Accumulated Divisional Exercise
Or D.A.M.N Divisionally Accumulated Monthly Numbers

There was that, but also the fact that you were racing against different cars, not just the same ones like our usual racing is :)

Then it's time for you to make an executive decision. ;)

Ok, decision made. We're going to finish the last season tonight with a GT500 race at Circuit de la Sarthe.

I want to do this, but the most I've had turn out has been <10, so multi-class racing would be boring.

I like the boost, but only a few people seem to want to participate in that.

It seems my bucket runneth over when it comes to commitments.:boggled: So again I will be missing for most of November and at least the first couple of weeks of December.

Have fun D2, I'll be thinking about you :)

I resisted zooming in on the minimap for a long time, thinking that I would rather see how far my competition was from me than how close the racer next to me was (I could see that out of my window, after all…)

Finally I gave it a shot. I zoomed it into 2 in a race against NPCs and could immediately see the advantage. I knew exactly when my rear bumper had cleared the car I was passing. I knew when I could change lanes. I knew all of that without having to look around my car, which kept my eyes forward and my fingers wrapped snugly on the wheel.

I still look around from time to time if I want to know who is around me, but I keep it for safe parts of the track. I'm sure the close minimap has made me a better racer and has kept me out of incidents.

Now if only there was a setting whereby I would never miss another turn-in point.

Thanks for the post, Rally.

Try turning off driver list as well.

When I went triple I stopped using a map too. I used to be strictly scale 1.

The more crap on screen to draw away your attention is more time not paying attention to driving. I removed a lot of mistakes by removing this list.

Only race I need to worry about is what I see out front and coming from behind. If I can't see the racer from my mirror or window/side windows. Then I don't need to be concerned with what position another's are in. :)

Real race cars don't have drivers list. That list has no benefit to ones race. IMO More of a distraction.

Not that I'm an authority on anything gt5, but on Owens' advice I've turned off both map and driver list several weeks ago. I drive from hood cam view and have the down arrow on the dpad set for rear view and those two buttons beside where my thumbs rest mapped to left and right view respectively. I use them on every straight to check for traffic around me. As a general rule if I notice someone catching me on a straight and it appears they will attempt a pass or be able to get inside by my turn in and I expect they will be anywhere near my car I try to give room on the inside. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Removing those items certainly cleared up the distracting clutter. If there was a way to move the elapsed time display up and/or left or right it would be perfect.

Someday I'll get that 3 screen rig built. Unlikely to make me any faster but it'll be more fun and interesting to play.

Good God you guys and your money. I'm lucky to have an internet connection fast enough to play.

…of course I guess I chose the pauper's path… (kinda)

Lol. My kids are grown, even though I'm still paying for college, cars are paid for, but I still don't know how I'll justify the expense of all that wretched excess. It's a goodly chunk for a 3 screen setup just in monitors and consoles. Like I said, someday, maybe.
