My fastest lap from yesterday in my grocery-getter, BMW 330i (e46) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, completely stock. I would appreciate a race seat and a 5 point harness, but being able to sit still and in control on those Hankook RS3s is a testimony of the physical training in the past few weeks in preparation for GT Academy.

The car understeers horribly, tough to get the car to rotate and tough to manage the slides because of the ripped control arm bushings giving an unprecise feeling in the steering wheel. There's still time to be gained but I don't want to risk walking home like a few other guys.

Arriving home' riding shotgun in the roll back is definitely an experience you need to do without. Been there, done that, had a really furious SWMBO ( her car on the flatbed :scared:).
 
Where is the live stream for Spa?

I test drove a Boxster S today - WOW!! The salesman gave me the keys, and said "Don't be gone too long, less than 30 minutes or so, OK?" and let me go on my own. Performance... in spades. It made me totally forget about the pleasant but not shouty TR6/MGB's I'd been trying out.

I'm still planning on testing out a 350Z (based on many comments from folks here in the past), and I'll try an S2000 and a Z4 or Z4 M Roadster as well. Those are my 'short list' of cars I am considering - usually 10 years old or less. The Mrs. didn't like 'track only' cars, and I was honest with myself about how much I wanted to fiddle with the much more stylish, but older cars - not as much as they'd need.

The garage cleaning should be done Sunday. I wish I had taken before/after pics.

I may find a 'special car' on Monday, but since I'm going to Oregon on Tuesday, my final sprint to the 'Finally, NOT a Minivan!' will likely happen a week later when I get back. Shortly followed by a Track Day for Dad at Summit Point, WV. 👍 This has been a LOOOOONG time coming. So happy it is finally coming to fruition. Thanks to many for the advice in the past.

Taking wife out to nice dinner since she still puts up with me.

I will say that a decent seat/harness makes the biggest difference in driving confidently and consistently. When I finally put Recaro SRD seats and 6 point harness in my old 911 it was like I could finally DRIVE.

Without a good seat you are using all your upper body strength in the corners trying to keep your body in the seat. Your knees end up pushing on the tunnel and the door as well. A seat lets you drive the car without getting as fatigued from death gripping the wheel so I wouldn't slide off the seat.

I went through that exact shopping experience back in 05... Went with the 350z, still have it today. No regrets.

Don't worry I have all that, I just CBF to install them. Lol
Holding myself in pretty well in the seat, maybe if I upgrade my suspensions and pull even more Gs I'll consider putting them in.
