It seems to me, assuming Prize B replaces GP/D, then Prize C can only freeze the car. Therefore, no Prize C choice; it's already decided for the driver. I'm confused. :boggled: What if Prize C chooses not to freeze; then what choice does he have?

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10 (Sport Soft tires) at Nurburgring GP/D (7 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @@fzappa gets Prize B, he gets to decide which part of the combo is replaced and what replaces it.

Prize C goes to @@IceManFan_7 so he gets the tie-breaking vote if the elimination votes results in a tie (the prize winners' elimination votes are not counted under normal circumstances).

Appears the rules have changed

As I understand it, Prize C can now pick a larger track to run the Aston Martin on. :sly:
It says Prize C can freeze, not choose a car/track. I guess it means Prize C can freeze OR change the car/track; whichever Prize B didn't change. So B has to change either the car or track, then C either freezes or changes the unselected part from B.

A lot in inferring if the wording stays the same...

I agree. I inferred that "CAN FREEZE" means it's a choice to freeze or change.

The was no discussion to change the way the prizes have been working. I am assuming that we are looking at an editing of large posts issue. I make this assumption based on the facts that there was no discussion to change giving the prize B winner the choice to take prize C. Unless @zer05ive went and made a change on his own without telling anyone about it (not like him at all), I would say that @fzappa is correct in being able to freeze the Aston Martin and let the prize C winner would have to choose a track.

That makes sense. Imho, the wording in the OP needs changed...:)

Okay. Thanks for making it official. I will repost that

Prize B Pick
I'll take ' Freeze the Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10' for a 1000 Alex

Now @IceManFan_7 can pick an awesome track to bring it to.

You have to read the post that is linked from the word "freeze" in the original post for the full description of how the freeze works and who is allowed to do what with their prize. The most recent results post is likely an error made while editing the post. Please proceed as we have in the past weeks with prize selection.

On a side note, it's nice to see that at least a couple of people actually read and can notice the differences.

Edit: I just compared results posts and the text that is in this weeks results post is the old text that was used before the option to freeze was implemented. Just an oversight. Carry on with normal business.

It's the former English teacher in me.

So, we have the following so far:

Hopefully we will have the combo's sorted early this week
I hope so too!!!

I tried uploading the replays for D1 into the public folder, but I may have accidentally also uploaded two old replays (from 9/22, no. 2 & 3) I tried deleting them but it always says 'deleted files still shared'.

-EDIT-

@zer05ive @JLBowler @Dragonwhisky
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I reread the prize instructions and notice that there is no freezing part of the combo anymore? If that's correct then I will test some tracks tomorrow night and post the choice then.

Sorry, that was my bad. Creating the results post involves going through a long list of steps. One of those includes copying and pasting the new prize descriptions over the old ones. I simply overlooked that step this week, but the results post has now been corrected with the "freeze" process. 👍

That makes sense. Imho, the wording in the OP needs changed...:)
I'm open to suggestions :)

For Prize A I choose the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione '08 @ Cape Ring - Periphery

Dealer Specs: 500pp/443hp
After Oil Change: 507pp/465hp
Tires: Sports Soft
Price: 220,000 Cr.

Mid Div Lap: My average was 1:41-42 in my first go around.

Thanks to @Vegasracer and @IceManFan_7 for testing with me!

Thanks for doing some research before choosing a combo. We just had this car at Cape Ring in March and it was one and done as Cape Ring usually is because of the jump. Long live originality.

Sometimes I wonder why I bother to keep track of the combos we have already ran around here.

The choices so far.

Lap times are prelimanary. We'll give it until Wednesday night to see how it turns out.

Thanks @ConnorWolf. I copied them to the official location. All the replays seem to be from Sunday night so no worries there.

Wow. Almost the exact same combo we ran in March...
And with so many possible combinations to choose from. 85,129 to be exact.

I did look at the previous combos, I wasn't in SNAIL in March so I wasn't around to race it. I wouldn't call seven months ago 'just' but I guess that depends on the person. It's the periphery version of the track, not the one ran in March. I picked a car and track that I think will make for some fun racing. You can't please everyone.

But you can try harder to please the people that are here.

Edit - I wasn't here in March either. But I'd like to keep with the principle of keeping it fresh.

To everyone that likes to bitch and moan about combo choices (and I know I am one) why not come try the SNAIL series where you get to choose the cars you run and when you run them (with a few parameters)

A SNAIL Sanctioned event - Open to all
Welcome to the DriveTrain Challenge (DTC). We are a tuning prohibited event that requires all participants to use four different drivetrains and uses the Performance Point system in Gran Turismo as a limiter on the nights racing.

Man, just hammer the guy right out of the gate. Do you want new members in SNAIL, or do you want it to be a private club for veterans? I love this league but the negativity toward new members is kinda souring. I never complain about any combo, no matter how difficult or unorthodox it may be. I'm just happy to have a competitive community to race with instead of having to play the arcade version.

Its a fine pic my man!!! If you thought for ONE second that the Combo gallery weren't going to find something to 🤬 about your selection than your crazy!! People who should be going with the flow instead of putting down a fellow S.N.A.I.L and opening the flood gates for what your S.N.A.I.L given right is should be asking themselves Why?? We will run it cause you won it!!! Congrats!!
Oh I wasn't here in March either!!!! 👍

@DesertPenguin09 I am here! Do I count? Try harder to please the people that are here?? Hmm. Yeah.. What?

Man, I took one night off. I thought I caught a breather from my official Prize Coordinator duties. So basically were waiting for Iceman to choose a track?

You screwed that all up!! You were supposed to start kicking your feet about the new combo.. No? Nothing? Your no fun @vsfit..

I can't get prize A
Wish you could buddy, god knows you drove really good in the races this weekend. I think (best guess) you have one more week. We'll get in some good laps on this weekends tracks in the meantime.

Forget everything in this post, lol.

Initiated contact with IceManFan_7 regarding his track selection.

Double post, called it on myself.....fish slap commencing.

I can understand the frustration, but on the other hand, there's the risk and "driving on the edge" factor that those faster drivers seem to have a better understanding of, which is why they're faster. The bigger the risk, the faster you go, the harder you push, the better the reward, correct? Some people will just have that more than others. Some fast drivers will be more patient, but for the most part, they won't be the fastest. It's a very tough balance to strike right, and it will go wrong for each and every single one of them at some point. After all, we're human, we make mistakes.

If we want people to practice properly on Thursdays, and have more people show up as well, shall I suggest making a rule where full time drivers MUST attend at least 2 Thursday practices in the month (3 race Sundays are required), and part time drivers MUST attend at least 1 Thursday practice a month. This ensures people are getting the seat time that can help reduce incidents and get people more familiar with combos. Either that, or also have a Sunday practice session much earlier in the day, or 2 warm-up rooms on the Sunday. Any feedback on those ideas? I want to try to help make these races more fun, because I'm sensing some sour feelings around here.
any body who wants to practice during the day i usually have a room open after lunch for an hour or 2 and practice the combos when they are announced
