An early #TBT back to 1969/1970. My dad teamed up with Brock Yates, Sr to test out the Ford Boss 302 Mustang street car on the race track, specifically Watkins Glen. The following article was written by Brock Yates, Sr and published in the January 1970 issue of Car and Driver.

As the article states, my dad was collected in an incident in the first race. That caused him to start from the rear of the field the next day, moving all the way up to 2nd place in his class.

Message me your email address if you want a copy of the article.

My dad is in the white racing suit in the middle of the photo. Brock Yates, Sr is behind the tow truck with the black hat. My older brothers and Brock, Jr are there as well.

The #13 car was a Shelby Mustang that started up front and my dad had an intense battle with him for a couple laps.

I thoroughly enjoy seeing and reading posts about fellow members' connection to motorsports, from grassroots to backyard built race cars, to hanging with the big boys, like your father did. These sorts of posts make me wish I had an opportunity to get involved more seriously at a younger age. I believe in "it's never too late", so don't read that as if I've given up. My passion drives me and it spikes into the red when I read these posts.

Thanks for sharing this Mark!

I feel the same way.

Pretty soon here I'll be able to complete my medly of personal protection equipment. Then I'll just need something to drive! :)

@Sedia3

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

does snail do any rally events?

@Rallywagon @Chiochan and @Die_Birdy_Die and I like to run around on gravel or snow, and a few others as well. No regular events or anything in SNAIL, but I am game for when I have time*.

* Unfortunately, I seldom have lots of free time unless there is a snow day, or summer break arrives. The kids leave June 19, I am more excited than they are.

I would like to sign up, SNAIL seems fun.

im just saying I wasn't sure it was right or not. I thought it might be a trick to make us read the document harder or something.

the document is intended to be read entirely. However, some updates may need to be done.

Thank you so much. /sarcasm/ You have just added one more thing to my list of things to do today. Three months since the last guy said something about the answer to the question and forced a change. That guy isn't didn't last very long. As mentioned above, the question is there to ensure that the document is read and not just searched for a single word.
