Car Restriction: Country of Origin: USA (Use your personal judgement on cars that are technically from an American brand, but aren't really American. Acura and Lexus, for example, and the Ford Ka)

You can break it in (200 miles on B-Spec, Laguna Seca) during the night - while you sleep. Easy as it gets.
 
I usually brake my cars in by doing ~80 laps of the Indy enduro and then exiting. Sure, the L-S enduro is more hands-off, but it takes a lot faster to run 200 miles @120+ mphs.
 
What exactly is magic lap, and what time is it running. At work so I don't have time to check the schedule for details at the moment.

Nvm I saw the post above, don't quite understand it, but seems fun.

I vaguely understand the premise for Magic Lap. It's a backwards race ... instead of starting out in a group and slowly spreading apart as the laps go by, you start out spread out and slowly become a group as laps go by :) I guess I'll have to learn to drive using the other half of my brain :)

My only question is when do you want our lap times for our chosen cars ? Do we post them here or give them to you in the lounge at 10pm EST ?

I'm thinking about giving it a whirl.
 
Basically if you want to participate tonight, you must grab an American car of your choice, go to Road Course Indy , & run 3-5 laps. Once you've completed a few good laps write down your fastest lap time. When you enter the room tonight dylansan will be taking times. Before the race he'll give you your time to start. Whatever number he posts is the amount of time you wait to start.

The idea is for everyone to cross the finishline at nearly the same time. Slowest car starts & whatever your lap difference is with the slowest dictates how much of a head start he gets.
 
Now my curiosity has gotten the better of me. How many drivers are following the spirt of SNAIL and not tuning their brake bias? How many are making changes? I don't care what settings anyone is running, I just want to know how many guys I am really on equal ground with.

We were never on equal ground :)
 
I ran some bb in practice last night with the civic. While I did like the change that Hillracing suggested I will be running default bb for all S.N.A.I.L. events. Just seems the right thing to do.
 
I was running just a slightly different balance last night, but I honestly don't think the brakes make the race, the driver does. And in my case, I see a lot of last places this weekend haha. Still adjusting to the finesse of the wheel
 
I still think brake bias is a "preference" based on your driving style. No one setting will be best for everyone. I joined this league only because of the potential for clean racing. Not because I don't want to have to tune a car. So far I've seen quite a bit of contact simply because the cars are made intentionally hard to drive. If adjusting BB gives people more control of their car, then there just might be less contact. I know the philosophical hyperbole put forth by the banning advocates but in a car with stock suspension and no aides to speak of, allowing someone to "have control of their car" doesn't seem too radical to me. I intend to use it because I'm not perfect:) I don't think it gives anyone any more of an advantage than someone who practices over someone who doesn't :) In other words, kcheeb is right ... it's never quite equal grounds no matter what.

Until now, I haven't tuned my brake bias except for FF cars (of which there has only been one during my tenure, until this week of course). However, this discussion has me rethinking that approach. I might start running 8/6 or 7/5 with RWD cars, but I certainly won't be tuning it for each combo, I just don't have the time.

I will make this pledge, however: If anyone wants to know what BB I'm running, even before the race, just ask. I'm not trying to have an advantage, just trying to avoid a disadvantage.
 
Up till this week I haven't touched BB at all as I thought it was illegal. Since it is legal and others are going to do it I feel I have to so from now on I plan on changing it. I will however share my BB with anyone who asks because I want to win by driving better not by figuring out some advantage in brake set up. So my current plan on BB for this week is 6/5 or 7/5 on the Z 5/7 on the civic and 3/7 on the gt.
