I think you need to read this. If I could predict the future and what other people would do in the future, I sure wouldn't be using that talent on making divisions for SNAIL. I can only work on what has been done and who has shown up. Notice that all of that is written in the past tense.
I'm not blaming u or knocking how Snail gets are divisions count, I do know if guys not racing Sunday night would let snail know their not racing anymore the process would go much faster.

It wouldn't go any faster than the start of a new season. How unfair would it be to take top half of a division and move them up to make more full rooms? Everyone that moved would immediately be taken out competition for a monthly championship.

Just so everyone knows, the formula for divisions in a given month is number of racers in the month divided by 16. If that number is 5.0 there would be five divisions. If that number is 5.01, there would be six divisions.

What about the idea of it being the number of full time drivers + an average of how many part time drivers across all divisions to account for them sometimes showing up? Just an idea, I know it won't change.

GT Sport just needs to get here already

D1 replays uploaded to the public folder. I'm sure a lot of people will be glad this week is over with 🤬 Even D1 made plenty of mistakes tonight. But thats the beauty of SNAIL. If people don't like certain combos, its gone! On to next week
RGT next....

The scores for Jan 19 have been pushed to Data and is ready for the data specialists

I guess I really don't understand vehicle dynamics, because it makes no sense to me that two cars so similar (age and manufacturer) can be so far apart in handling - and the one with less HP is the nightmare. Must be patially due to the fact we are using softer tires on the Yellowbird, but even those are only one compound apart. (shrug)
The compound has a lot to do with it, but also tire width. Part of the reason PP racing fails is because cars with different sized tires cannot achieve the same grip levels with the same tire compounds.

I actually enjoyed the combos this week and wasn't expecting to. I held off running laps until 30 minutes before race time but the RUF cars surprised me. They offered more than just single file racing. The BTR and CTR were about restraint. I saw lots of passing as drivers had to battle wheel spin. It just felt more realistic where you don't really know the limits. In comparison, other combos are like wrote memory precision of driving in a vacuum.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - RUF BTR '86 (Sports: Medium) at High Speed Ring / Forward (9 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @BenMillard wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 (Comfort: Soft) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (6 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @src_ej6 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @keepitsteady so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Track Selection Guidelines

I put mine airborne turn 1 in the 2nd race while in the lead. If it wasn't for the small field it would have been a 8+ car pile up lol

Mazda @ Mazda combo? Loved it and there was loads of genuine racing! Hope the B and C winners keep something with this feeling. 👍

Feel free to message me with ideas. I have at least two combos I saw work great in other non-tuning series.

Madrid was carnage in Division 3. it's so pinched with the walls. Yet it was the least voted against. :???:

I've self-reported a couple of things from Division 3 so I might not keep the prize anyway. :dunce:

View media item 2540This week's prize winners are clear to make their selections. Good racing!

@BenMillard @src_ej6 @keepitsteady You will all be included in a conversation that will contain specific instructions and deadlines that must be followed and met without exception.

Some real footage of the combo people like so much. It looks like spec miata runs a faster lap that we are managing to get out of these cars, likely due to reduced weight, a few performance upgrades, and increased grip. The lines they take are about the same but it sounds as if they need to lift for a few corners we take flat out. In any case, the racing looks about the same. Watch drivers make the same mistakes we do.

Interestingly I loved the Madrid combo. Also, interestingly, I dislike the Mazdas at Mazda - Every lap is agony for me.
Ideas? Lets do the Senna F3 car somewhere...

Watching Spec Miata races there was my inspiration. It's on my list of this to do this season, but at Watkins Glen.

I didn't dislike the Yellowbird at Madrid, but I just felt that it was an entirely different race if you were in traffic or not. After starting up front in the 2nd race, I ran several sub 1:27.4 laps with a best of 1:27.0. I was more than a second off that in the first race. When you're in traffic you have to react to the car in front of you more, which I felt upset the car and as a result, made it much, much harder to drive. Hopefully I can practice it more and with a group.

The tips on the Miata at Laguna that I can give are 1) don't lift entirely and 2) make sure your turn in is on point. For me, turn 5 always causes me grief. I just can't seem to get the right turn in point.
