With the NASCAR season kicking off this weekend at Daytona, I wanted to share with you guys something. My uncle was the owner, sponsor, and spotter of a lower division NASCAR that competed in the Southwest Featherlite Series that ran tracks all around the SW in the mid 90's. (Sears Point, Irwindale, Arizona, etc) His driver Chris Trickle (The great Dick Trickle's nephew) was racing for him when tragically was a victim of a heinous driveby shooting in his hometown of Las Vegas in 1997. He later died from his injuries. That opened the door for another Vegas native Kurt Busch to drive his #70 Star Nursery car. He won the series in 1999, which launced him into racing trucks for Jack Rousch, and now is one of the top drivers in NASCAR. I know he hasnt made many fans over the years for a number of reasons, but I'll always be a fan for the family ties. Him and my uncle are still very close, and my uncle was invited to Kurt's wedding in the Caribbean a few weeks ago.

This was at our local track in San Diego, El Cajon speedway which is no longer there. I was 13 at the time. "The fastest 3/8's mile in the west" it was called, but in actuality was probably the ONLY 3/8 mile in the west :D

Edit: Maybe this post gave Kurt some good juju. Kurt wins the Daytona 500!

Hi , I would like to join up at snail racing !!!!

@SRT DK Racing

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

We had quite an anomaly happen last night. I won the pole @ GVE with a 1:23.607, and both Nic and msgt set a qually lap time of 1:23.614! I believe Nic was given 2nd place and msgt 3rd. Does any one know how these tiebreakers are decided when its a deadheat like that?

Go with what the game tells you.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87 (Sports: Soft) at Circuito de Madrid / Reverse (8 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @racingchamp30 wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 (Comfort: Soft) at Grand Valley East / Forward (8 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @Gonzo23 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @CoachMK21 so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

@racingchamp30 @Gonzo23 @CoachMK21 You will all be included in a conversation in the next couple of minutes that will contain instructions and deadlines that must be followed and met.

After doing testing around 8 vehicles with a different track for each, i am deciding on this new car/track combo since we were racing on tight close corner tracks this past Sunday. I am comfortable with what i am picking and feel others will like it too. This track has lots of space and plenty of areas of the track where you can pass. Shorter tracks or the tracks with tighter spaces has less areas to be able to pass but this track gives alot of opportunity to pass.

Fuji Speedway GT
Nissan Skyline GT-R R33 Touring Car
234,000 credits
574PP but no HP listed before oil change.
582PP/547HP after oil change.

Dealership PP setting puts it with RH tires so it has plenty of grip. The best time i can come up with in 3 laps so far is 1:36.275
Also a side note you can change the body color of the vehicle, rim color and put your own number on it as well.

Sweet, finally using some of the Touring Cars

@racingchamp30 would you consider Fuji Speedway F, with the tight S-bend hairpin halfway round?
latest

That creates another overtaking zone: wide straight braking from high speed. Also allows over/under switchbacks, with the potential to get alongside into the final twisty section. (If someone makes a mistake on exit.)

Looks like my FTO on Route 5 Reverse is staying for one more week! But with two 4WD RH cars and the R33 having more options, maybe it won't stay so long. :nervous: Fingers crossed the FTO only gets a track change, not a complete combo change.

RUF Yellow Bird was a great learning experienced around the rarely driven Madrid Reverse. It's a lesson I'm glad to move on from, though!

Eunos Roadster
Please freeze this car! It's a delightful, easygoing car to start the evening with easily controlled pack racing. Could be time for a new circuit?

Touring Car version was great fun on Cape Ring South, in the Quick Match from some time ago. 350pp tuning quick match at Autumn Ring / Forwards / Weather & Time was great fun on Comfort tyres a year or two ago - this car is around 360pp on CS if I recall correctly. With 10% fixed weather and moderate time progression in mid-afternoon you can get some beautiful lighting effects there.

First off, you can't change decisions, it's final. Trying to persuade others can be seen in a bad light. Secondly, we use the F layout every time and it's a nice change of pace to use the GT variant.

@racingchamp30 mentions overtaking as part of the reason and Fuji F has a couple more opportunities than Fuji GT. There's no way helpful suggestions can be 'seen in a bad light' can there?

I was open to suggestions when I had a prize - maybe not everyone is that way. It's his choice.
