We have eight people interested so far...just throwing it on here in case others want to give it a go. The link to it is in my sig and in the next sentence.

Ok, I wasn't able to find anything like this and decided to put it under the spot races/time trial section of the forum.

It's in the time-trial mode since this will be against the clock. So, if your laptime goes red, it's not being entered in the spreadsheet. I'll enter the data when people post in the thread with their times, please use the following format for consistancy:

example - tezgm99; Renault 5 Maxi Turbo, DS3, ABS 1, auto transmission, engine at 95.6%, 1:44.801s

I'll give a week for each track, so you can continue to tweak the setup and chisel away at your best laptime. No prize to give away, this is purely for people who want some fun with the rally cars.

Car tuning is open for transmission, differential and suspension, but no weight reduction, ballast or power increase (no turbo boost, no engine stages, etc…just an oil change or engine rebuild). Chassis rigidity is optional. Full downforce required for every car, front and rear. All driving aids off except for ABS of 1 (you can use 0 of course if you prefer), mechanical damage off and grip reduction set to 'real'.

Of course, being in arcade time-trial mode, there is no way of keeping track of whether the regulations are being followed; it’s entirely up to the honour system. You'll have to save your best lap though since, if someone thinks your time is dodgy, they're entitled to ask to see the replay of it along with the setup you used (hey, we're all trying to get better in this thing right? Different tunes to try out are always appreciated).

The idea; three tracks, three surfaces, three eras of rally cars to use in the arcade time-trial.

Cars to choose from:
(P) Citroën C4 WRC
(P) Ford Focus RS WRC 07 '08

Is there a giant snail on the back of that t-shirt? 👍

Can't wait for September races, should be an intensely close battle in Div 3 if Jazz the robot is moving up :sly: Good luck to all of you Div 2 guys who have to deal with him now muahaha. I can safely assume this after watching that clinic Jazz put on last Sunday. Triple crown! Grats Jazz 👍

What should I run the time trial with first? I'm interested if my chest will allow me to do this

Hitting D1 for a few laps after Open House @ school.

... The BMW is killing me, checking on the Mitsu

... Clearly not my night.

G'Night, Gracie.

Any hints, y'all?

The BMW @ Spa and the Tsukuba race are making me wonder if I learned anything in the last 5 months.

I blow chunks at these, in a really painful, not-enjoying-this-and-what-the-heck-am-I-doing-wrong kinda way.

Rallying through the 80's without Audi Quattro? Can this one be added?

I'm looking forward to getting mine!

I want one too. They look awesome.👍

... so I installed the B Spec Grinder, and I can see my credits in the widget; but it keeps saying connecting to PS3 and then it disconnects? Any tips?

I think I figured it out... nice widget.

You have to set GT5 to remote race and get it in standby mode before the widget will fire up any races. You also have to have at least 1 Bspec driver shared. It's probably best if you have 3 shared in case someone snatches one or more of them for their own hosting. It could take a couple of log offs and ons to get the widget to synch with the PSN server as well.

Also, under the Widget preferences click on the Advanced button and set Concurrent Threads to 1 and the driver reservation delay to 10 seconds. You may also want to check the box Save race logs to disk to help with troubleshooting.

I agree that Spa is painful. It is not a track you just pick up in a few laps. The biggest problem I am having is the green runoffs. I know they off limits but it is so easy to carry just a little to much speed and end up on them. And once you are on them you might as well continue because there is no real punishment. Of course self policing this not to mention trying to avoid complaints makes me think it might feel like a slow race.

I will be opening a room @ 9:30 for some shuffle racing. Also some spec recommended list racing and recommended list crazy mixup racing. If everyone has them, a race with Ferrari F1, and possible some rally action also. See you there.

My first reaction?

"Man, This sucks!!!"

Tempered by experience, and the filter of being an adult talking to adults about a videogame... just because it's difficult doesn't mean I won't learn from it. And although I may learn, I may not enjoy the learning process much.

Finding braking points in Spa are getting me, and I can't seem to either hold a corner, or if I can avoid spinning, I'm doing the 'grandma crawl' to not mangle the accelerator and then spin, or I understeer... or... Wait a moment... did I already say that this... No, nevermind, that would be a bother, and quite rude.

Last week, I learned that I had to find braking points that were not high up and close. WHen I had the fortune to be racing close by my division mates, I couldn't see the point because of their name - quite a different experience with more folks running than just hot lapping.

Truthfully, this week's combos may be beyond me.

I'll see if I can get some practice in, and I promise to show/do my duty, etc on Sunday, but unless *I* get better, I can't promise I'll enjoy it.

I will be willing to race you any of the cars at Nurb... that track will make you a better driver because it has all types of curves.

For the Love of God, will someone accept my Snail Friend Request Divisions 1-5. I missed practice because I can not get my Friend Request Accepted. I don't want to miss first race of Sept. Please log into the Snail accounts and check the Friend Requests and Accept "jbica"!!!

anyone else having issues joining?

Ok, a quick update about the F10 race for Saturday. I will open an online lobby at 2:30 pm for practice. 15 minute Q starts at 3pm sharp.

44 laps of Spa
No aids
ABS optional
Use any Tire you wish.
Fuel and Tire wear on.

Questions?

Dunno if I'm qualified to run f10s with you all but if it looks ugly and there's room I'll watch if no one objects.

Do you want to mandate compound change? Maybe just do hard/medium or medium/soft like prime/option?

Thanks... I am up and running some races now!

The quickest way to get cash into your main account is to create, if you've not already done so, a second account on PSN and set the widget up to run that account and put your main account's drivers on always use and leave only 1 free of all your friends drivers. If you're hosting from your main account only one driver at a time will be in a race. Will take forever to get credit capped that way. If you like, send Dragonscotch an FR and I'll help you run your main's drivers. When I Bspec grind I run it all night and until I get home from work the next. Unless my daughter decides she wants to use the PS3 that is.

:@: OshawaJoe,

Ok got my F10 set up I think. Don't think I ever tuned it for anything specific. I've already got 650+ miles on it and just changed the oil. Sitting at 726HP and 878PP. Only tires I had on it were RHs so went ahead and bought RMs and RS' for it in case I want to use those. Will get some practice in tomorrow early evening just to see how I run with all 3 tire sets. I forget, will we be using one of the SNAIL lounges or open lobby?
