When zer0 and I chatted about this originally, my first thought was to put cars with front (or adjustable) downforce on racing tires and the rest on sports. That was deemed too wordy for the rulebook, though.

zer0 thought there would be a car chosen that would bring an argument like this, I just figured there would be enough logic to go one way that it would be a non-issue.

So you'd prefer the car to be faster but drive itself? On sm tires you have to drive the car, modulate throttle and be smooth. On rh tires it's just point and go.

I think the problem is we don't have a tuner car defined. I think it should be defined as sold by a tuner and not a concept. If you went to the auto show and saw a concept car would you consider that a tuner car? But if you went to the track and saw a time attack car I think that would be a tuner car.

I know that we will be running the car on S.M. because that is what you wanted. So I guess this debate is pointless.
 
Hill racing intended for his pick to be on Sports Medium tires, based on his understanding of the car and tire regulations. Therefore, we're either going to honor that or give him the option to pick another car.

This is HYPOCRISY, and in protest, I will not Run those two races!!!!!
 
This is going to sound very wrong at first, but looking through the dealership, it seems to make sense:

In situations where a car is not clearly either a street car or a race car, we should decide based on whether or not it has advertisements on it. If a car is ever intended to actually be raced, it will have ads on it. This is a fiscal truism in the real world. If it's tuned for car shows (like the car we're currently debating), it most likely won't have ads (except for the badges designating the manufacturer, model and trim that most production cars have.)

Edit: I just found the Lexus IS concept, which kinda blows this theory out of the water. It was never actually raced, as far as I know, but was prepared to race in DTM. Uggh.

And then there's the case of RE Amemiya which has the FD3S RX-7. It has sponsors on it, but in the description it says "The Amemiya u Boost up 7 is a street machine created by..."

There's also the 1970 Ford Mustang Trans-Cammer (Grand Touring Garage). It doesn't have a ads on it, but the description says, "on the inside this is a total racing car".

That's too bad because I was really hoping that DrKronin was onto something.

I think the current tire regulations are fine, some people are just reading way too much into this. The car is sold from the Toyota dealership an has "concept" in its name. EDIT: To prevent this situation in the future, why don't we change the tire rules to allow whoever picked the car to pick the tire compound, as long as it is or is below the maximum tire compound currently being run.

It's not saying the outside isn't for racing, just that it's a production body.

Ah. I didn't take a look at it. I just thought that it was talking about inside the cabin. Roll cage, five point harness, stripped, etc.

I see you enjoyed the clip as well. But why wouldn't the pick your own tire compound idea work? It makes more combinations available and we could find a compound/car/track combo that works better then the one that the car would normally get with the current rules.

A. Expect the waiter to allow you to change your order to a pork dish
B. Expect the waiter to explain to you that beef is better than pork anyways
C. Expect the waiter to tell you that "rules are rules!" as he shoves that beef dish down your throat

I just bought SM and RH tyres for it so whatever is decided, I'm prepared for....unless it's a complete reselection, then I'm in trouble :lol:
 
I decided on a new color since there are 4 yellow cars in D4, I'm going with Green w/ Purple tires... I should stand out nicely!
