Thursday Practice Announcement

We had some issues last week during Thursday practice and the BOD got together at the gates of the city and smoked the peace pipe and came up with a path forward:

As of May 17 we will run two practice rooms.

One room will be for D1 primarily and @SAMHAIN85 will be the primary host for that room. The room will be named D1/D2 Snail Practice.

The second room will be for D3 primarily and @racingchamp30 will be the primary host for that room. The room will be named D3/D2 Snail Practice.

D2 drivers can go where they prefer of where there is room. Before you enter a room, look at the numbers and try to balance the numbers.

We are looking for back-up hosts - so please post here if you want to be back-up and we will put you on the list and include you in a host conversation. In the conversation we will discuss availability, procedures and stuff to ensure all the hosts are on the same page and that both rooms will be running smoothly.

We request that all other practice rooms are shut down by around 9:00 pm EDT as we do on Sundays to make sure we don't have confusion.

When both rooms are full we will smoke the peace pipe again.

I have a room open now to decide track. I'm most likely going to use a Gr. 3/4 car just not sure if I want RWD or 4WD

Crap what happens if the track you guys pick is the same one I choose for Prize A? We'll do it right?

If you would hurry up and make your choice, everyone would know and could cast their votes with all the information.

Aside from that, @SAMHAIN85 is running the voting on his own. He would be allowed to use his discretion in choosing a track if it were to create a duplicate and if he were so inclined.

Prize B:

If you are an active SNAIL member you may nominate/vote on any legal track to take the:

GRAN TURISMO RED BULL X2014 Jr (SM tires) to.

Deadline to vote will be Thursday @ 3PM EST.
Whichever track has the most votes at that point will be my selection. (Just in time for Thursday night practice.) For the sake of simplicity we will use the default time of day.

Remember to NOT vote for any of the dirt tracks:

Colorado Springs
Fishermans Ranch
Sardegna Windmills

Or any of these:

Northern Isle Speedway Infield
Nurburgring 24H/Nordschleife/Tourist

All the other tracks are fair game! I unfortunately wont be here to race with you guys on Sunday - so you guys decide where you want to race this weekend. Cheers

Tokyo Expressway – East Inner Loop

Room open right now for people to join.

Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 '12 Gr. 3 - RH Tires
Kyoto Driving Park - Yamagiwa

I need cars on track to see if it's gonna be carnage or not. By myself it's an easy to car to drive quick/get a lot out of but in a group everything changes.

*FISH SLAP!*

Why don't you win Prize A and pick it yourself! :P Sorry I had to.

Give it a drive and you'll see it's not as much power as you think. So far only one random joined and is enjoying it. Even left just to buy it.

Something about calling a kettle black comes to mind...

Yeah, steelseries are nice. I had originally opted for a set of Steelseries for my pc, but I just couldn't get them to fit as steady as I would prefer (considering my rig will have motion someday). They were comfy, but too loose in my head. I ended up with Logitech G933 Artemis Spectrum Snow. Just ended up paying more than I had wanted but I've been VERY pleased with them.

On the PS4 I have an older set of Turtle Beach wired headphones. They work well and have separate game & chat volume dials. (Ironically the fancy Logitechs don't have that feature but mostly because it's unnecessary for pc gaming)
I also have the Logitech G933 Artemis headphones, and am very pleased as well. Compared to my Sony Gold wireless, the Logitechs sound better - very deep bass and dynamic, crystal clear sound. Regular music sounds amazing through them. They're very comfortable and secure as well. But the reason I got them: they have audio mixing ability. So I'm able to use a third party app (Crew Chief for PCars 2). I simply run a 3.5 mm cable from my phone to the headset for the app, and use the wireless dongle for game audio. The sound mixes perfectly. The Astros also have this capability if you purchase the additional mix-amp. Someday I'll treat myself to the Astros, but for now I'm happy with my Logitechs and Sonys for a backup.

What if both rooms are filled, those that want to practice are shut out? What time(s) do the rooms open? Are tracks and cars posted in advance? If there is no space available in the practice room, are there other options?
I would like to have a better showing than I did last week, because I didn’t know how or where or what to practice on.

We arent at that point yet. Last week I counted 24 SNAILS that were on Thursday to practice. And thats the most we've had in a long time (which is a good thing)

Are tracks and cars posted in advance?

The SNAIL combos change weekly based on votes and prizes. Its all summed up in this post.

Basically the Alfa at Dragon had the least amount of votes - that combo stays. The Supra at Suzuka is completely gone - Penguin will choose a new combo to replace it since he won Prize A. The RedBull was "frozen" which means I get to come up with a Track to take it to since I won Prize B. But instead of me choosing it, I'm letting SNAIL as a whole decide what track to use based on votes.

Once that's decided that will be the lineup for Sunday. The combo page will be updated to reflect it, sometime Thursday.

If there is no space available in the practice room, are there other options?
We are working on a structure for Thursday practice to prevent that from happening. Maybe soon we will need 3 lobbies which means we are growing!
