Guys please stop talking about all this awesome equipment. I was planning on waiting until next year (or when the PS5 is announced and we know what will and won’t work) to spend my savings on upgrades, not this year :scared::lol:

I went live for a few mins messing with the VR. I havent gotten any motion sickness from it, but I definitely got a weird vertigo feeling when I came to a dead stop and then reversed while looking around (the part on the bridge)

Wow. that was incredible. I cant imagine how different the car might feel when fully submerged in VR. Did lap times fade or improve for you VR vs wheel?

I was playing Dirt in VR and did get the motion sick, stomach flipping feeling. It was not fun.

"I have read the first post and would like to RE-join."

@spidermonkey

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58,@MajorBlixem & @SAMHAIN85 as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Already feeling good about my purchase.

I havent tried any SNAIL combos so I dont know where I stack up against myself. I'm sure I wont be as fast since I'm not used to running in cockpit view, but the guys already running cockpit will probably be just as quick.

Yeah I heard that game is way worse for motion sickness. What are some good VR titles you've bought? Resident Evil 7 seems to be in everyone's top 5 so I may need to give that a shot. Havent played Resident Evil since Dreamcast days.

You're going to love it. When you look around the cockpit its hard not to want to reach out and touch something. The only downside is the gfx/resolution isnt the greatest. But this technology is still in its infant stage. In a few years I'm sure itll be insanely realistic.

And I'll stick to racing cars - not climbing trees

The one I'm really interested in other than racing games is the new Star Trek: Bridge....just because you can do cross-play with Non-VR users.

Dumb question I'm sure but is there practice tomorrow night giving the holiday?

Practice is on...., but I am "out of the office" till Sunday afternoon. @SAMHAIN85 will you be able to take D1/D2 practice lobby.
Prize B.. New track for MR2 :
Brands Hatch Indy Circuit
Time : 09:30
lap times 0:55.500 ish
Also, can someone please check the weather description for Brands Hatch. Is it Clear, Fine Weather, Cloudy .....?

Here's my thoughts on VR with GT Sport. First, it's an awesome experience and it's no exaggeration that the realism is a giant step from the standard mode that we're used to. Second, it fills in the "why did my car do that" feeling. Let me explain this with our newest combo selection, Brands Hatch. Turn one, that elevation drop is more dramatic than what we can see in any viewing mode in standard GTS. With VR, you can actually see the surface contour in greater detail as you progress through the turn. Then everything in the car shifts or sways, there's more moving parts and everything is doing exactly what it would be doing in real life...it's moving and changing.

As the car rolls through the turn you get this enhanced sense of how far you're pushing the limits of the tires and car. I couldn't figure this out at first but then after about 30 laps in the BMW Z4 GT3 I realized the hood / fender lines I was looking at appeared to be flexing. In my head, I knew that it wasn't but the way the background imaging appears and disappears over the corners of the cars makes it look like its flexing and moving with the contour of the track..it's crazy what that does to your brain.

I haven't spent much time with it but I've run around a hundred laps at each track. Within the last month I've started adding each new combo to the mix as it has helped with brake and turn-in points. I'm also tracking lap times and compared to standard mode it usually takes me about 10 laps in VR to match my standard mode times, so I'm not sure if there is an advantage to practicing in VR mode yet due to the missing human element of racing. IF they ever add group VR, it will definitely be a game changer for sure.

I was chatting with @Rob Brown and he mentioned how much easier it is to regain control of cars if they get a little out of shape because he has a better sense of the cars balance and overall position which is something I never thought about but definitely noticed in VR mode. I react much quicker to changes because I have so much more information coming at me. Thanks Rob.

anyway, that's my .5 cents worth. Hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Ty @Rednose58 also if no one can host practice let me know for D3/D4 I'll host so we dont have the problem we did last week with no D3/D4 practice. so if we find out the newest combo I'll update it tonight to make hosting easier

Most likely the “Company Coming” will prevent me from joining practice. Of course, they could INSIST that I keep my commitments.
