I have read the first post and would like to join

@tcoffin014

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58,@MajorBlixem & @SAMHAIN85 as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

I’ve been trying to hold on to my G27 until the PS5 comes out but man, this is a really tempting deal. Even if I only get a year or two out of it, it still seems worth it for ~$200. Does this include only the wheel and pedals?

I will be furious if I can't use my wheel on PS5. But yes, that's wheel and pedals only. There's a "with shifter" option for $241

My fear of a wheel not working is the biggest reason why I’ve held off, and I don’t have much faith that they’ll implement a way for older wheels to work. I’m planning on doing a complete overhaul and upgrade of my setup within the next year (wheel/pedals, cockpit, etc) so I’d hate to spend the money now and have it not work like what happened when the PS4 and GT6 came out. But like I said, at $200 even a year of heavy use might be worth it.

That’s such a good price I may buy one and put the T150 and T3PA off to the side.
Gotta get a rig first though. That’s what I’m waiting on

It's definitely higher quality as far as a leather wrapped rim and better pedal set. There's a company called ricmotec that makes a dongle to use G series pedals with thrustmaster bases. You might try them both and see which you prefer or if you want to mix and match.

I pulled the trigger on a Fanatec setup this morning in place of G29 setup. CSL elite base, P1wheel, v3 inverted pedals, v1.5 shifter and hand brake (for rally). I had to tell somebody because nobody appreciates what it is in my house (surely not my wife).

Will try to use my Playseat that is about 8-9 years old. Does anybody know if I’m in for some trouble for mounting these pedals? I’ll continue to look around on youtube. Found one guy who still using the inclined plate for ‘normal’ style pedals. It was NOT ideal by any stretch. You can see this inclined plate in my current set up. At minimum, I’ll have to remove it.

I'm waiting to see about that PS4 compatible direct drive version they've teased but haven't put details out for.

V3 Pedals may not fit on the older playseat pedal plates.

I have that problem with my un-used playseat. I need to make something to bolt on as a wider bracket

Congratulations on the gear 👍

Nice haul...congrats!

I could imagine that direct drive won’t change the price of the CSL elite base with such different price points. Meaning I could get something out of it in case I want to upgrade.
It would also be weird that Fanatec didn’t get the v2 or v2.5 wheel base compatible with Sony but will with the direct drive. I sure hope they do though. Bums me out that there are these corporate urination contests where Sony won’t cooperate with all sim gear manufacturers in a free market. (Don’t get me wrong, Microsoft is no saint either.)

Congrats on the gear @Rob Brown You will love it, especially those pedals. I have the same pedals and went through a few mounting options before settling on a 15 degree incline. Originally I had a steeper angle (30?) but found it very uncomfortable. Have a look at my rig in my signature and the link on that post on flicker for some ideas. Good luck!
