The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - VOLKSWAGEN GTI SUPERSPORT VISION GRAN TURISMO (RH) at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix - Sat Dec 30 1899 10:30:00 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) (9 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @Nicktune wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.
PLEASE NOTE: Since @Nicktune has already won Prize A this season, he is ineligible to win it again until next season. This means that unless he loses Prize A due to incident reviews, any driver who competed in Division 1 on Sunday night will have the opportunity to suggest an entirely new car and track combo. I recommend that all D1 drivers from Sunday night start TESTING combos they would like to suggest. That way, you will be ready to post a good combo when @JLBowler gives the "all clear". It's important to mention that a good combo will not have a car that hits its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft). Also, please be sure to only suggest one combo. Any driver who suggests more than one combo will automatically be ineligible to suggest any combos at all. Please don't let that happen to you. Only suggest ONE combo (but not until @Nicktune is confirmed as the Prize A winner).

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - RE AMEMIYA FD3S RX-7 (SS) at Circuit de Sainte-Croix - B - Sat Dec 30 1899 07:10:00 GMT-0500 (Eastern Standard Time) (6 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @socalnatv gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @stelephant so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the time of day (e.g: 09:00 Clear) or else it will be left to default.

@Nicktune @stelephant @socalnatv will be included in a conversation in the next few minutes that will contain instructions and deadlines. There will be a suggestion process for D1 to select Prize A. I will start that process tomorrow morning and it will run all day.

If you raced in D1 this week, you get to make a suggestion for Prize A from which @Nicktune will make his choice.
  • Your suggestion must be made by posting in this thread.
  • You may not edit your post to change your suggestion.
  • Be sure to include the full in-game name of the car and track and time of day. Failure to include time of day will result in default being chosen.
  • The deadline to make a suggestion will be Tuesday night at 11:59 PM ET.
  • Remember that you are not voting for a suggestion that was already made. You are making your own suggestion.
  • Time of day with rain or wet track effects are not eligible for selection.
  • Please do not include photos or other extra text in your suggestion as it just has to be deleted when the posts are grouped together.
SNAIL Approved Track List
Full approved track list can be found here.

Prize winners are allowed to choose the time of day for their track selection. If a specific time of day is not selected then the default time of day will be used. (Note: The time of day settings differ between arcade and online modes in the game. Always check the lobby settings when selecting time of day.) In the event that a track is frozen, the time of day will also be frozen with the track.

Please remember that any car and track combo chosen must produce a mid-division lap time that is under 5 minutes. Also note that any selected track will be bound by the SNAIL lobby settings.

Announcement

Prize winners: When naming the track, please add the weather condition too. There was a technical problem leaving it out, plus some of the wet conditions on certain tracks are at the same time slot as a dry condition. It will help to eliminate potential confusion.

Prize A selected from the list:

I've never ran this layout before.. it feels like a totally new track.

Good choice

I agree, and the car is also pretty underrated. I joined a Japanese lobby a few weeks ago and they were running one-make races with it. It may look like a pretty boring car from the outside, but it's pretty fun in a pack.

This leaves us with only 3 tracks left that havent been run in SNAIL since Sport was released:
  • Autodrome Lago Maggiore - Center II
  • Blue Moon Bay Speedway - Infield A II
  • Broad Bean Raceway II
Taken from here

A question for the masses: if Nürburgring Nordschleife were to be eligible for SNAIL racing, would you avoid it like the plague virus, or would you welcome it? Just curious to see how people feel about racing the Green Hell.

I'd be game for it as a challenge. I detested that track when I first tried it on GT4, but it's grown on me as an exercise in staying focused.

As an aside, I've been lucky enough to drive on the real world Nordschleife years ago. It was terrifying in the dry, horrifying in the wet, and I feared for my life when it started to snow as well. But it was still one of the best days of my life. If you ever have a chance to go, I'd highly recommend it.

I would welcome the use of the Green Hell...great historic track. @Rob Brown what are your thoughts...

No. No. A million times NO. There is a reason that this track is not used for racing in real life unless it's an endurance race and includes the GP circuit. There are very limited chances to make a pass. The track is so narrow for so long and the curbs so unforgiving that you could essentially drive down the middle and nobody would be able to get around you cleanly. Add that to the fact that most Sunday SNAIL races would be two laps and you limit those chances to pass even more.

If the option were to run the 24 hour version and run 8 or 10 laps then you're on to something. That's not an option for a format built on sprint racing. That is an option that could be run as a weekly series. If there is enough interest, as some think there is, in running the ring then put together a weekly series, pick a night and run it every week with a different car. Run cars that are over the credit cap for Sunday night and kill two birds with one stone.

For those that haven't been around as long as others, these are not unique ideas. It has been tried in the past and there wasn't enough interest to keep it going. My guess would be that one of two things happen. You either get 10 guys and run a parade because of the precious few chances to pass and you just wait for a mistake while staying in line or you get 10 guys and they spread out so far that you might as well be running a time trial.

Love the track for open lapping, despise it for any attempt at racing. If/when an opportunity presents itself, the gamble at making the attempt at a pass is so heavy that I would rather just maintain a position rather than risking an off and loss of many spots.

I would absolutely be interested and I would even book a day off a work just to do it. Sooo short answer...I would welcome it, lol

Simply stated, I would welcome the opportunity to run Nordschleife.

When I first got online with Gran Turismo 6 (my first online racing exposure), I ran several nights a week with a group of ring-rats. (Eventually I sought for more and by coincidence, saw a snail recruitment message). I didn’t know the track when I started but I loved it for the challenge it presented.
Each of us has tracks he doesn't like. For me those tracks are the ones that have a few turns between drag-strips, like Monza & Sarthe. But over time, I’ve learned to appreciate them.
As far as tracks that don’t have passing opportunities, I would have never have come up with Nordschleife (on my list).
It really comes down to a BoD decision. This may be unfortunate for many who would love Nordschleife. There is really nothing else standing in the way anymore.
As with current combinations, care would have to be taken to chose a car that would not top out. Likewise, it be nice to do more than one lap, meaning a chosen car could lap in 8.5 minutes or less.
Edit: Just finished with weekly B race Nordschleife. Started 10 (just jumped in) and finished 4th. Several passes back and forth also in just one lap.
