@JLBowler
I was wondwring, since i will be one handed for at least two months ( due shoulder cirgury), if i could be relegated to D2?

I imagine promotion and relegation is pretty tricky right now. D1 only has 9-10 regulars on average. D2 has been even lower with 6-7 regulars. Still too many for one big division and too few to pull people from one to the other. And the top D1 guys are a good 2-3 secs a lap faster (in fast laps) than everyone else.

So definitely in a weird place right now.

And the only thing separating the D2 guys is consistency. We are all similarly quick in lap times but whoever can stay on track longer wins.

I definitely don’t envy the BoD trying to equalize right now.

I'm ready for a new division structure that would focus on closer competition rather than larger numbers.

I know it's an old discussion, but it has always leaned towards larger numbers, and that makes it difficult for me get enthaused about racing against the top guys in D1 when I know they are going to drive by me fairly easy.
Add to that, the new system of longer races, which I enjoy btw, and that gives those guys that much more time to get passed us slower guys.

I would prefer to race in division with 5-6 drivers that are real close in pace than a group of 10-12 with the difference in pace being as much as it is now.

We have a repeat prize winner this week.

If you raced in D2 this week, you get to make a suggestion for Prize B, track to pair with the Supra, from which @IceWarden will make his choice.
  • Your suggestion must be made by posting in this thread.
  • You may not edit your post to change your suggestion.
  • Be sure to include the full in-game name of the track and time of day. Failure to include time of day will result in default being chosen.
  • The deadline to make a suggestion will be Tuesday @ 11:59 PM ET.
  • Remember that you are not voting for a suggestion that was already made. You are making your own suggestion.
  • Time of day with rain or wet track effects are not eligible for selection.
  • Please do not include photos or other extra text in your suggestion as it just has to be deleted when the posts are grouped together.
SNAIL Approved Track List
Full approved track list can be found here.

Prize winners are allowed to choose the time of day for their track selection. If a specific time of day is not selected then the default time of day will be used. (Note: The time of day settings differ between arcade and online modes in the game. Always check the lobby settings when selecting time of day.) In the event that a track is frozen, the time of day will also be frozen with the track.

Please remember that any car and track combo chosen must produce a mid-division lap time that is under 5 minutes. Also note that any selected track will be bound by the SNAIL lobby settings.

Also remember that any car chosen must not hit the rev limiter at any time, even in the draft.

Prize B suggestion: Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix Condition: 09:00 Cloudy. I liked the feel of the Toyota's gearing on this track, and it's wide enough for me to get out of the way. Lap time: considerably lower than what I was able to do.

@JLBowler @IceWarden

Edit: OK. I'll tell you, my best of ten was a 2:15.9.

I support this vision! Maybe consider moving division numbering to the system we’re using for our other events. Diamond, Platinum and Gold. This would allow for an easy crossover into other Snail groups, making it easier to apply strategy for weight and tire specifics being used by NOVA. I have been unable to join Spec racing this month but will be ready for 2021. I feel we need to get back to driver commitments prior to race night.

Nothing else changes with Spec Racing! It’s great as it is. I’m much happier doing One Design/Spec racing than tuning.

When GT7 lands, we’ll already be prepped for the influx of drivers wanting to sign up.

Happy New Year Snailers.... Stay safe!

The only way a division of 5-6 people would work is if everyone showed up everytime. If one person decides not to make it then it makes a huge impact on the experience.

Last time in D2 we only had 6 (and one dropped out mid way) to start the night and it felt like a ghost town.

I’ve been in a few snail offshoot series where only 5 or 6 were showing up at the end...that was the point where you felt like it wasn’t worth showing up. Then the series died.

So I’m all for bigger numbers/fewer divisions over fewer numbers/more divisions. When 16 people show up it really makes you feel like you are a part of something special. You are there with 15 other people and excitement is there...you almost feel lucky that you made it into the room before it filled up.

@llNovall series was mentioned...even though his are evened out using tuning/tires/weight etc...I like the full room and knowing that I could have a battle at some point in the field. Due to my slower pace and lack of consistency I have a very low chance of winning but a very good chance of battling with someone at some point. Even if I make a mistake.

So even if we had to go to 1 division for a bit, I wouldn’t mind so much just for the excitement of it. I wouldn’t win or even podium but I might learn a slightly better line, gear choice or braking point from the fast guys. And maybe even improve my consistency.

Also, double post, was there a rule put in place while I was away that said you could only post race related stuff in the forum? I remember in the past you could just shoot the Bull around here, come back 2 hours later and you missed 5 pages of conversation. Fun times.

@IceWarden Below are your choices for prize B:

@JLBowler @IceWarden

Prize B suggestion is Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit. My time with the Supra 3.0GT was 1:46.380
Time of day: 18:15 Clear

@JLBowler - @IceWarden
Prize B suggestion as to track:
Tokyo Expressway - Central Outer Loop
Twilight 18:00 Clear
Early lap time: 1:35s

Another double post...apologies.

I’m a big F1 fan and there’s a video on the F1 site about some of the funny moments from the season. There is a bit from the Sainz’s radio during qualifying where his pit says...
“You are still the only car out there”.
Sainz...”Ok, but say....I am P1.”
Pit...”You are P1. Purple in all sectors.”

If you know any of the teams then you know this is hilarious. If not then I have only wasted a tiny bit of your time :)
