Hey guys, lets get on gtplanet and complain about people's choices for combos and the way they vote. Oh wait, we're already doing that.

And since everyone's giving their opinion here's mine. Someone has been bitching about one or more of the combos since the rx-7 slow version was up(as I can remember people were saying it was a battle of attrition?) if you guys complain about every race every week it's hard for some of us to actually take this seriously as far as actually using your input to decide upon a combo. Maybe we should just ban cars over 650 pp so we can pussyfoot around the course more in slow cars that are more "predictable"(whatever thats supposed to mean), and probably get rid of races under 400pp since you can't pass because the car is too slow.

Or just ban opinions that don't match yours?

I will admit to being a 'complaintant' - I try to consider - does the combo promote clean, competitive racing across all 5 divisions? I understand why the skilled drivers want very fast, twitchy cars. Hopefully, highly skilled drivers can understand how frustration and a field of carnage isn't exactly clean, nor competitive in all divisions.

'Predictable' for me is the ability to shift or brake or accelerate carefully and the car responds predictably - not OK on 2 turns and psychotically different the next. Clearly this isn't a problem for everyone. But it is a problem for more drivers than just me. Back ends or front ends that pop, get loose and go bonkers depending on the gear you shift into or out of, with an 'unpredictable' result for some, isn't within my skillset, even with practice, yet.

I'll still race, but it's not something that I'll say "Thanks", when it's castor oil on castor oil for dinner and dessert.

While I respect others choices and opinions, my momma told me if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. Also this talk about cars acting unpredictable is confusing to me. How are any of the cars unpredictable? All cars in GT5 have a limit, once you find the limit don't push it or you will lose control. Now, a car driven out of control, past it's limit IS unpredictable, but predictably unpredictable. I love the high powered cars and would love to see more used in snail. Ciao.

I agree wholeheartedly.

i dont mind what cars get picked. i liked the clio but im ok with the others. the sign of a good driver is being able to adapt to new cars new tracks and new situations. so change is good but the clio was fun while it lasted

it seems in my short time in snail usually the cars with understeer stay and the ones with high amounts of oversteer get complained about.

There were some issues with the spreadsheet but I'm sure I got the gist right. :)

Just checked and double checked the spreadsheet, seems like it was a case of driver error :D

The voting results from the Directors spreadsheet:

Division 1 2 3 4 5 Total
Round... 2 3 5 5 2 17
Round... 4 3 0 3 4 14
Round... 1 2 1 0 3 7

I've been out of the game for a while, so there may have been an update that fixed the physics issues...

But some cars are/were simply undrivable online. Some all the time, others on certain tracks or at certain quality settings.

Long story short, I had to remember who voted for what after the fact. :ouch:Thankfully it was fairly easy, as everyone but one person had voted for number 1.

No worries, just had to defend the honour of the spreadsheets

Yeah. Now I know how much of a muckitymuck occurs when you cut and paste in some of the cells!

Exactly. People forget that everyone has a different experience because the race lobbies vary so much in handling compared to ones own lobby. I could drive the Zonda in my lobby (still a handful but drivable) but it was ridiculous to drive in D2 lobby. It handled completely different and was far more loose in the rear in D2 lobby. Those that ran well, probably didn't see the massive change in performance that I did. The fact is the playing field is never truly even, even with spec cars. The lobby and connection have an impact.

Also, what is the point of a forum if not to express your opinions and share experiences? There are always people just waiting to be offended no matter how civil you are, so you can't worry about that.

Love technical terms :)

There are many formulas in those sheets and they're, to use another technical term, fragile :)

I really enjoy "Freedom of Speech", don't you? Since this isn't "Fire in a crowded theater" ....... I think every member should be allowed to express their opinions. If a person doesn't agree, they are free to reply. If the opinion is amazingly idiotic, in your opinion, then let the crickets respond.
In my opinion, that is.

And this is how I spent my Monday night...👎

Started with the brake pot and decided while I had everything apart that I would swap out the clutch pot for the brake. Cracked open the clutch and that one was even dirtier! But the worse by far was the gas pot. The pic above is the brake pot, so you can imagine how bad the other 2 were. The pedal housing itself along with the gears were relatively free of debris so hopefully this will do the trick.

Didn't get a chance to test things out so I'll be on sometime after 8pm EST either in D1 or D2. Not sure what events are planned for Tuesdays but I need to run in the draft and see if my problem is solved. Fingers crossed!

So basically D3 killed the Clio and D4 acted as an accomplice.. :mischievous:

Everyone who used a wheel last week should use the DS3 this week...only fair way to get a true comparison of throttle control in such a high PP car :sly:

Anywho, looks like the 20th, sony will be announcing something big, and with all the videos to go along with that date on their site, its a sure bet that its going to be the New console thats announced. With that guess, I'll make another. We are nearly out of DLC, if not already so. I have mixed emotions about this. A new system, and new game, will hopefully give us everything we know will make it great, at least enough to make it far, far better. But at the same time it means changes here.

Now with that thought in mind. Zero, do you have a plan in place for when gt6 is released? are we going to still rock gt5 until the majority switch? will we have two separate sets of divisions, one for each game? I know that only time will really tell what way we can, should and will go. Even if they set the release date for xmas time this year, which is possible with the date of this coming announcement, we still have plenty of time for gentlemanly conversations about the course we will take.

So tomorrow's the big day! Anyone up for a S.N.A.I.L. watch party?

We could meet in the D1 lounge at 6pm Eastern / 3pm Pacific and watch the global livestream broadcast together. 💡

Ya...

In no division did the FGT get the most votes. The Zonda only clearly got the most in 2 of them (and tied with the Clio in another). I read some complaints about how these faster, twitchier cars are harder on the lower divisions, but none of the divisions showed a bias toward voting out the higher PP combos except (by one vote) D5. Of all the divisions, D3 and D4 actually showed the strongest dislike of the Clio, and also seemed to love (relatively speaking) the FGT, as it garnered only one vote between those 2 divisions.

The narrative that the higher divisions like the high-PP, tough-to-handle cars, while lower divisions prefer cars that are on rails, isn't supported by this table.

My point is, perhaps there's a silent majority (thanks, Nixon) that is not well-represented by the opinions posted on the thread (damn hippies :dopey:).

I can remember some griping when a particularly slow car was chosen on a particularly big track. That type of pick doesn't happen very often, though, so the "silent majority" bit may just be accurate.

Wow, that really sucks to hear. What procedure did they use to reconstruct your ACL? Did they use a part of another ligament? I opted to use a cadaver and it's worked our great. Or should I say he has worked out great..?

Yes, bad taste indeed. :(

Speaking of which.. Drgreenthumb, you should give this guy a call..

About that lol sorry wrong tread.

I'll watch vicariously through the forum, damn classes!

No way GT6 is released either this year, or on time once announced.

Expect 1st Qtr FY15.
Probably. I know Sony wants it ready as a launch title though. Not likely.

Just updated GT5. Went to Indy to break in the GT 350Z RS and it listed it as an amuse/opera performance vehicle (the whole name was cut off) but it's the right car going around the track. Must be a little glitch.

Hey Guys,

I am looking to snag either a

Toyota ALTEZZA RS200 '98
or
Lexus IS 200 (J) '98

for my collection. I need it to be under 10,000 km. If you have one and am willing to dupe/send it to me I will happily repay the favor with a car (I have everyone) or Paint (I have all the Matte and Chromes).

Thanks

I have the Altezza with 855 miles on it. It's in Red Mica and has the newer style BBS wheel on it. Completely stock of course with fresh rebuild. Send a FR and I will send you the car. Nothing required in return. PSN=JLBowler
