The Steward Summary and Current Probation is posted.

Evening…looking forward to race tonight. Are you still using the Party mode to communicate?
Hey Villy,
Welcome to Snail. Always great to see a new name on the grid.

There might be somebody with a party open during the race but for the most part, things are pretty quiet. We’re all muted during the races.

If you have a few of us added a friends, you might be able to locate whether a part is open or not.

Sunday Pre-race Network/PS/GT7 Maintenance

1) Clear GT7 Network Cache
2) Close game and shutdown PS
3) Turn off/disconnect all devices using home network. This is an important step if you have been experiencing lag. If not possible to remove all devices from your home network, remove as many as you can.
4) Power down router.
5) Restart Modem
6) After modem has finished restart, wait 5 min and power up router.
7) After router restart complete, wait 5 min and power up PS
8) Run PS network connection test, if test normal, ie: your download and upload speeds are where you expect, next step. If not, begin from step 1
9) Launch GT7
10) Go to Sport Mode and run connection test there, if test states that its a good connection, go to multiplayer and find and join lobby. If not normal go back to step 1

Thanks for the update. I’ve raced with SNAIL before a couple years back. Looking forward to do it again. We did the same back then too.

Thanks again…

It turns out that Tokyo Expressway is difficult to get group photos from. There's a narrow field of view and a low ceiling for the camera to move around in. To make things worse I chose a night race so visibility is that much lower. Hope y'all enjoy the views I was able to capture.
Lap 1: @Oshawa-Joe starts in pole position, I start in 2nd and we both stayed that way until the checkered flag. I gave him a good chase until the last few laps, when he began to pull away.
1000005555.jpg

My best attempt at a group photo, just after the race began.

1000005556.jpg

@TexHill, @AronD (both shown above), @racingchamp30 and @cesarr64 would have a lot of back-and-forth position changes in the first lap. 'Hulk Slow' lol, I got a kick out of that.

1000005557.jpg

Lap 2: @Mac1032763 is in 3rd place just ahead of @JamCar0ne when he gets a little too much oversteer in T14. Jamcar has nowhere to go and collides with him as he bounces off the wall.

1000005559.jpg

@TexHill, @cesarr64, @AronD and @racingchamp30 are still battling as they round the corner and find Mac10 and JamCar in the middle of the track.

Lap3: @racingchamp30 makes a pass on @cesarr64 to move up from 7th to 6th place. @TexHill is running 3rd with @AronD 4th and @JamCar0ne in 5th.

1000005560.jpg

Lap 4: This would be the closest I get to making a pass on @Oshawa-Joe the entire race. In turn 1 I come in with a little more speed than him and accidently give him a little push. He still clears the wall on the exit and uses that speed to reestablish some breathing room between us.

Lap 5: @TexHill drags the wall a little hard in section 2's tunnel allowing @AronD to take 3rd and @JamCar0ne 4th. That spot in the tunnel must have some serious gouges in the walls, it took quite a beating through the night from almost everyone.

Lap 6: @racingchamp30 overtakes @TexHill after another wall tap for 5th place. The walls here definitely slow you down but at least you can't go way off track and end up in a sand trap somewhere, right?

1000005561.jpg

Lap 9: @Mac1032763 makes a move on @cesarr64 for 7th in the final seconds of the race somewhere between T14 and the finish line.

I broke the races up into sections again this week. I'll have some more pictures up as I find time through the next few days. Have a good night y'all.

  3. radliffpower ------ voted to eliminate Round 3
  4. RacingChamp30 ----- voted to eliminate Round 1

  6. Tex_Hill ---------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  7. cesarr64 ---------- voted to eliminate Round 3
  8. Mac1032763 -------- voted to eliminate Round 2
The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Porsche 911 RSR (991) '17 (RM) at Sardegna - Road Track Layout C - S01 Afternoon (18 laps)
Therefore, the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. @Worst_Driver wins Prize A, and gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Abarth 500 '09 (CS) at Tokyo Expressway - Central Counterclockwise - C04 Midnight (9 laps)
This means either the car or track will be replaced for next week's line-up. @JamCar0ne is the Prize B winner and they have the option to freeze the car or the track, or they can give that option to the Prize C winner. If they give the freeze away, they get to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @bublyman - they get whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it's confirmed you don't have any penalties. Also, it's recommended you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history, to see how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember, originality is always appreciated. Although not required, picking cars and tracks we've never raced is a plus. What's more important is, you thoroughly test any combo you are considering, before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the Preset Weather and the Time of the Day (e.g: S01 Afternoon) or else it will be left to default. Available settings can be found under Time/Weather Settings, when creating an online Lobby, after selecting your track.

I have read the first post and would like to join!

A member here pointed me to you guys. I just got my G29 rig rolling and am looking for some clean, legit racing action.
@Bretcoe

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add zer05ive, JLBowler, nmcp1,llNovall, Akzl298 & Dragonwhisky
as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

After looking at how dark the pictures were in the last post, I made sure to brighten these up a little first. Nice choice on the car freeze, @JamCar0ne. I'm glad to see the Abarth stick around for another week.

The first race of the night had a little multi car accident but race 2 had one that involved over half the field.

1000005562.jpg

Lap 1: I decided to split the group photo up to make it easier to see everyone this time. We're entering turn 1 here with @Mac1032763 in the lead and @cesarr64, @racingchamp30, and @JamCar0ne in tight together just behind.

1000005563.jpg

@Oshawa-Joe and myself following @AronD and @TexHill as we cross the starting line.

1000005564.jpg

We were in a close race as we exited the section 2 tunnel and hit the straight between T9 and T10. I had a bit more speed coming from the back of the pack and decided to take the inside line into T10. As I began to drift wide on the exit, @TexHill was doing the same on the outside lane and caught the wall, that's when the chaos ensued. I made contact with him on the rebound, he made contact with @racingchamp30 who was half a car length ahead. @AronD makes contact with Tex who's now in a full spin and about to get hit by @Oshawa-Joe also. The only person to make it through clean was @cesarr64 who did a great job of dodging cars here. The picture above is just before Tex makes his final 180 and ends up nose first in the inside wall. I believed I may have been at fault so afterwards Tex and I play a little "No, you go first" lol.

1000005565.jpg

Lap 2: Beginning running order for this lap is as follows; @Mac1032763, @JamCar0ne, @racingchamp30, @Oshawa-Joe, @AronD, @cesarr64, @radliffracing, and @TexHill. JamCar is making his move for 1st above when Mac adds some more gouges to the wall in section 2's tunnel.

1000005566.jpg

Exiting the same tunnel just behind the front runners, @Oshawa-Joe is overtaking @racingchamp30 moving up to 3rd.

Lap 3: @AronD is making good time and manages to get ahead of @racingchamp30 for position 4.

Lap 4: @Oshawa-Joe is putting down great lap times and overtakes @Mac1032763 for P2. He's got a clear path to JamCar now and shows no sign of slowing down.

1000005567.jpg

Lap 6: I chose Midnight, cloudy and chilly conditions because I wanted the tires to break free more and Mac is suffering the consequences here. He begins a slide in T1 and noses into the inside wall. @AronD has to make a quick right-left maneuver and manages to do so with minimal grazing of Mac and the wall. @racingchamp30 isn't far behind and also clears the scene incident free.

1000005568.jpg

Same lap, Joe is in hot pursuit of JamCar as they manage the esses and enter the second tunnel. I'm busy elsewhere putting the pressure on @cesarr64 for 6th place.

1000005569.jpg

Lap 7: As they round T10, Joe becomes the new race leader. @JamCar0ne won't fall too far behind and they'll finish in 1st and 2nd.

1000005570.jpg
Lap 9: The closest finish of the race is shown here as I'm about 3 or 4 car lengths behind Mac10 crossing the finish line.

This circuit took a lot of practice to get right, but when you got a clean lap, it was pretty fun. Based on the SNAIL Data sheet it was one of 7 tracks I found that hadn't been ran in GT7 yet. I was thinking it would be a good idea to compile a list of tracks unused so far to make it easier finding something brand new for the group. Correct me if I'm wrong, but here's the list I made while doing my search.

Suzuka East
Streets of Willow - Reverse
Horse Thief Mile
Red Bull Short
Northern Isle Speedway
Maggiore Center

I'm just going by my notes from last week, so there could be some mistakes in there and I'm sure there's more than that as well.

'New to me' events like this one are always fun. I can't remember ever running Autodrome Lago Maggiore - West in reverse, or even the standard direction for that matter. The VW Golf VII GTI '14 isn't something I've had much experience with either. Glad to see this combo will be here again come Sunday.

The afternoon sun is shining and we're still running 8 strong as we begin the 2nd round.

1000005571.jpg

Lap 1: Group shot! Now that we've left Tokyo, we can get everyone in frame and actually see them. @Oshawa-Joe has pole position and is first to enter T1. This decreasing radius high-speed turn can be tricky and @TexHill runs a little wide first time around.

1000005572.jpg

@AronD and I are bumpin' elbows a little going around T6 while @Mac1032763 is going for a ride behind us. He got some grass on his tires after turns 4 and 5 and wound up involuntarily veering off to the left instead of right.

1000005573.jpg

Lap 2: Section 2's turn 7, @Oshawa-Joe, @JamCar0ne, @racingchamp30, @radliffracing, @AronD, and @cesarr64 are all pictured here in that order.

1000005575.jpg

I managed to overtake @racingchamp30 then ran wide and into the wall leaving T13. Pretty sure I'd be missing a headlight and there'd be some parts flying through the air in this picture if it were real life. He would stay left as I roll right and reclaim his position in 3rd before we begin Lap 3.

1000005576.jpg

Lap 3: Champ brakes a little late in section 3, goes wide on exit in turn 11, and allows @AronD and I to get by. Everyone else is pretty well spaced out by now and there will only be one more position change for the rest of the race.

1000005577.jpg

Lap 5: After leading @racingchamp30 for lap 4's entirety, @AronD takes a slower line around T1 and Champ is back in 4th. I'd like to nominate @AronD for most characters on a livery, ever.

Lap 8: @Oshawa-Joe and @JamCar0ne have developed a big lead and finish the race in 1st and 2nd.

I'll try to get another race recap done tonight sometime, otherwise look forward to seeing some more tomorrow.
