You guys don't know how much I needed my Lobanaro brothers to keep me in stiches all night.
Yep, my Mom passed at 11:15 this morning peacefully, with me and her three Grandsons by her side. Although I feel the loss, I also feel relief in knowing she won't suffer anymore. Godspeed Ma.
Thanks for all your good wishes guys.

Anyway, wasn't that a blast last night.... the racing was much closer than I anticipated with those snarling big
V-8s. I can't wait for Aeroshuffle and GR8 to get back so we can repeat some of these awesome classic combos. Thanks again to Mr. Awwwwwwesome for calculating laps and fuel.
Did anybody else lose all grip after the PS in race 4? My car tried and almost succeeded in killing me a few times. When you pit, without a tire change, do the tire pressures change to what you have programmed in the pit stop menu, even though you don't change tires, or do they stay the same as when you started? I might have had too low tire pressure after my pit. Duh.
Colts complaining about all the talking during the race..............Bwaaaaaaaa, good one.
Trying to race in a competitive league using the in game racing line will not make you faster, in fact it will slow you down. The line is for noobs to get an approximate idea of when and where to brake, or to learn a new track. But to depend on the line to get faster is never going to work. You have to push each corner in practice, find a brake marker that works for you, find the edge and try to stay just to the inside of that edge to keep control. In other words..........no more racing line.

I'm thinking Group As next week, hmmmmmm.

Sorry for you loss Mike. I'm glad you could be with your family and that your mother found peace. From racing with you for a couple years now and hearing about all the things you've gone through with her, I admire your resilience, and she was very lucky to have you.

+1 for Group A. Now that @aerolite is home, can we get him on chat more often? :D

Condolences Mike. She is at peace now.

Tire pressures at pit stop: According to the text on the right it will adjust the pressures as per your pit strategy (cold pressure), even if you don't change tires. What I found sometimes is that the pressures are a bit high when I come out of the pits, but it settles down on the first lap after the pit stop. So, the car is a bit slippery coming out of the pits until the pressures settle. So, you have to make sure to set your tire pressures to be the same as your cold pressures.

If you guys have 20 minutes to waste - here is an epic battle between me and @SGETI in the last race. He stopped on lap 5 and I stopped on lap 6. Couldn't have been closer even after the pit stop...

:gtpflag: Results :gtpflag:

I watched a good portion of Mike's feed and some of Red's, looked like a fun night for sure, though easy to trip up in either car!

Guy's, a heads up on choosing your cars. In the past, if you chose the other divisions car, then you would not be scored. We changed that to you will now just be scored last in your division. If you pick the wrong car, just back out of the room and come back in and re choose the correct one.

Congrats to @Rednose58, this weeks "Mr. Awesome" for the Group A win
Congrats to @yogi bear, this weeks "Mr. Baawesome" for the Group B win

I'd like to thank my sponsors.... but I don't have any.... but seriously, I could have sworn I saw a picnic basket on the back of reds car. Just couldn't quite get close enough.

Mike...I was with my mom when she passed also. It's hard, but it was helpful to say that last goodbye.

As redundant as this may seem, I wouldn't feel right unless I also express my condolences for your loss Mike. In one of your previous posts you mentioned her toughness. I'm not the least bit surprised that she was resilient and tough - after all - she made you. Sorry buddy, but she's in that better place.

Won't be there next week. Going to water valley for a mini holiday, be back Wednesday.

Racing lines, talking during races, meh.
Honestly David , as has been said try not using the line - you will go faster I guarantee. It's much more difficult to try to follow that that line, so just drive. Not to mention it's not adapted for the fact that different handling vehicles are going to have different lines alone, never mind in traffic.
Just do this, as you're approaching a corner, look at the tun in point. as you approach that point, shift your focus to the apex. As you approach that, the exit point, then finally down the next straight. Your mind and hands and braking will follow your eyes. Plenty of books on the subject, I highly recommend Michael Krumm's 'Driving on the Edge'.

I like my sim racing as real as possible, which is why I drive cockpit. Of course, the lack of reality is we're not in 100+ degree cockpits getting bounced around etc. etc. Having people talking during the race forces us to overcome the challenge of distraction. But mainly it's fun as hell - Without Alex's contagious laughter and Gutter's gutter humor we'd be as sterile and boring as the main SNAIL rooms. Screw it, put on our big boy panties and drive the car and if we can't stand the noise wear earplugs...or go play some flitboy shooter game...The lounge is for manly racing!

Looking at the turn on approaching, apex and past etc, yeah I do all that, As I said before I do not have the driving line setting for the entire track, only for corners, so that doesn't matter, the driving line aid is only as a gauge or heads up for upcoming for corners, not even for following. Everyone has their preferences, well i prefer to have they option as or when needed. It also comes in handy in less than bright weather, rain etc. It shouldn't matter to those who prefer not to have it on since it's on or not based on their own chosen pre-race setting so having the option off is just spiteful IMO.

But as I said Meh. The most I can do is ask. If the lobby host/s refuse what can I do? So be it. I'm not going to belabour this much further.
Long and short of it it's just a game and what you see outside of the windshield, the track and periphery has it's limitations and not as clear or wide as in real life.

Ok that's my piece. As said, I don't wish to belabour this much longer. I will make my own determinations in time accordingly.

Sorry David, I couldn't resist.
The racing line will continue to be OFF.......Its not being spiteful, it's forcing you to learn how to go around the track faster without the pussy aids like brake assist or steering assist or the racing line. It will make you faster. Thats the reason you still finish last most races after two years of racing with us. You are making the same mistakes all the time. Believe me, we feel for ya, but your bad racing habits are affecting the other guys in the room who have taken the time and effort to be fast and competitive. Do what was said above, read and learn some of the theory and science of how to be faster. Driving on the edge is a Baaawesome start.
Blunt? Sorry, it's not personal.....we love the personality you bring, but your racing....MEH, not so much.
Get good Bro.

Subscribe to this guy's video channel and watch the three or four videos on Driving Line and Cornering

David I noticed using the driving line as a braking point and cornering was slower. For some reason the driving line does not match the rubber on the track at times. Braking it shows red about 50 to 100 ft earlier. And on the progressively tighter corners it does not follow the rubber. I noticed this following camel, so I hopped in his car and rode along. After making note of his braking points and cornering lines I picked up 4 seconds. Basically just follow the rubber on the track. But pick a braking point.

Sorry you have to go through all this @aerolite . Appreciate you updating us, because we all want to race with you again soon, Mike talking to himself just isnt the same.! That new upgrade looks pretty clean though!

I'm two weeks today since surgery and have been "Aeroshuffling" around in a walker putting just the slightest weight on my right leg. I have a follow up on Tuesday with xrays and get all the staples out. Then I have four weeks to go to start increasing the weight to 50% and then it's back in for xrays ect again. I won't be getting out to the shop/man cave for a couple more weeks yet and will have to see how I feel, and if I think I can get in and out of my rig then I will give it a try.
Everyday the leg improves slightly but I'm looking at the end of the year now before standing normally again, and hopefully taking that first unaided step in 6 months.

I have too much time on my hands right now so can type for awhile about whatever, but I thought this was kinda cool.
My youngest brother's racing number was 39, my dad's race number was 93 so my brother just reversed that. My racing number has always been 55, because 5 is my fav number, (5 was always taken). After Mike passed away in 2002, his daughter and son both had "39" tattooed on themselves, and Mike's gravestone has an oval race plate with 39 on it. So for years now we have watched the number 39 pop up in some of the strangest place's, like he's there with us. I posted the pic of my latest incision a few pages ago, want to guess how many staples are in it, yup, 39! The other night I got Denise to add up the other three incisions, which came out to 16, add that to 39, and you guessed it, 55!

Something a little different this week. We'll all drive the same car.....sorta. It worked well last week. There are three versions of the Ferrari Challenge cars...APAC, NA and EU. All are the same specs and they give us a ton of liveries to choose from. We will still score the race by class, but I'm hoping for closer racing at Lemons....we'll see. We'll use both tracks, Bugatti and the 24 hr circuit, just haven't figured out which one to race twice.
Details are in the mail

And by the way......no racing line.

Here's a little treat for the boys...no music, just engine sounds.

@aerolite
Glad you update us every couple weeks - don’t have to wonder how your doing. Looking forward to you seeing if you can tolerate sitting in your rig. You might have to get somebody to make some comfort modifications or even bring it out of your shop to the main space. If nothing else, get on a controller and run interference on the fast guys for Mike. Just take a nap on late Monday afternoon so you can stay up longer. Just be careful, in case the laughter could rip out stitches . . .
Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask - - with all the surgeries and time under the knife, you probably worked-in a penis enlargement, right? Oops, or was it supposed to be kept a secret?

Hey Mike sorry for your loss. I couldn't even imagine what it would be like to lose my Mom. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

Hey Areo glad to see that you are shuffling around with a walker. Soon enough you will be back in the saddle where you belong. Keep up the hard work.

I do miss racing with you all, but I have some issue's that I have to work through before I can get back into the saddle myself. Until then I enjoy reading the post and watching some of the vids that you all post.

Had a great day today!
@Rednose58 is visiting his brother @MajorBlixem, (who lives four hrs or so from me), and along with their wives, took a big day tour and came and visited me and Denise!
It was another “finally get to meet you day”, as the three of us all joined SNAIL within a month of each other back in the spring of 2014. We had a great lunch, telling stories and having good laughs, and then watched F1 qualy. We finished the visit with a tour of Aerolite Flight Services shop, also where my man cave and racing rig preside.
So glad you thought of this Red, it was so good to meet all of you. I know it made for a long day on the road!
It’s a shame that Lobban can’t drive and wasn’t able to join us.
Here’s a few pics, I’ll let you guys guess who is who between the two! You’ve all seen my ugly mug before.

Too cool! Very awesome of those fellas to make the trek, and you all repping the clubs!

Don't have to guess. These two gentleman and their lovely wives, along with a friend and his wife they invited, staged a raid on the Bourbon Trail, using FOB Dragon, back in the summer of 2015. Conquered the trail in two days and invaded a local winery to sample the wares. They ain't skurred o' travelin' an show up wherever their wanderlust demands. Ain't surprising at all they would motorvate to parts unknown ta' visit.

They were gracious enough to stock up me whisky shelf. One of these days Imma drag the wife up to visit them in the crazy white north.

I'm guessing @MajorBlixem is on the right - he looks like his icon, even the same pose! Red is on the left, almost looks like he could be my brother if you put a beard on him.
Very nice, glad you guys were able to get together. I had some good races with Major in GT6, it would be great to see him Monday nights.

I was wondering if anyone would notice the tee-shirt I was wearing under the hoody! You kinda have to zoom in on the dining room table pic to see the SRM shirt that Sgeti had made for us.

They were telling us about that trip today, sounds, and looks, like it was a fun time. How could it not be if good bourbon is involved!

Yea you’re right, better than me, lol.
I asked him about joining us again today, but I understand the time thing. Sooner or later I think he will wander into the lounge, he knows he is more than welcome. The sooner the better Major!

Today was much like when Sgeti pulled into my laneway last year, on our way to Mosport to meet up with other guys from our online world. So far it has all been a great positive experience and I don’t think that will change.
