Well, I just spent a couple hours feeling out PCars 2. I'm pretty disappointed.

*Half the functionality of the game is useless without keyboard support. I have no interest in trying to prioritize which buttons are more important than the others while I wait for them to fix this issue. I'll just wait until I can use my button box.

*We don't dare start saving tunes for our cars because that will break the game, and I don't see how we're able to adjust a car for a single race without saving the tune - That's an awesome loop to be caught in.

*The graphics kinda suck. In cockpit view the A-pillars and hood of the car is all jaggy along the edges, the brake markers are all jaggy too, it really isn't very polished.

*I didn't play with the FFB too much, but there's some issues there as well. A lot of dead zone in the wheel if you calibrate it the way it says to. I did a little different calibration that worked better, but I still think we had the FFB dialed in better on PCars with the Jack Spade/Oscar Olim files.

*The new tire model is very cool though. Definite improvement there. The car really feels like its on squishy rubber as it gains and loses traction.

Let's hope our patches get installed soon, because this is kind of a bummer. There was so much hype about how good the game was working prior to launch, but they obviously weren't focusing on the console side of things.

I have not tested this yet, but it looks like somebody thinks this will work....

"In order to stop the virtual mirror from disappearing go to the main menu and set your HUD to lite/minimal there. Then during a race session go to the Edit HUD screen and edit the minimal HUD and enable whichever HUD items you want displayed, such as the virtual mirror and relative times. Then hit the save button and your HUD will actually be saved. Hope this helps some people..." I found it here

What a coincidence the PS4 version is having issues just before Gran Turismo sport comes out I'm sure it's just a coincidence
Consprcy Cat_I has consprcy thery4.jpg

After a painful half-hour I got it done. I made this video to illustrate the speed at which this game is going through the menus... and the struggle I had to make that change to HUD layout. I pressed that save button about 20 times before it eventually saved the information correctly

This is not a "How to drive" video, cause the driving sucks - if you can sit through a painful boring half-hour, then you can watch this, otherwise just believe me that if you press the "Back" button to exit from the HUD edit screen, then it will not save you information. You have to find a way for it to respond to you when you press the X button when the save is highlighted.

Pointless... we all know this already!

Thankyou for doing this....hope Ian bell watches this and they get off their ass and correct it....I bought the premium package online...I am a little upset... (sarcasm)

Heres some "highlights" if you want to call it that from our test night. Not much to write home about.

R1 start. First lap was fun, the remaining 9 laps sucked.

R2 start. I get shot out of a cannon at the beginning, and cars are flying everywhere

All hell breaks loose in T1

3..2..1...Jesus Christ Mon....David where are you flying off to?

Aero and I having a fun last lap battle.

R3 start. Again I get shot out of a cannon at the start. This was the most fun I had on Monday night. What a challenge to keep these things pointed straight, and they sounded awesome!

I havent had much time to mess around with PCars 2 yet. I know theres a lot of kinks to be worked out, but it seems like thats a standard thing these days. I have a feeling GT Sport will be the much more "well polished" game out of the box, but I still say PCars 2 will be the future of "sim" racing on console once all these bugs are exterminated.

And you got your wish Jeff, we didnt do any rallycross races. I hope we can do a quick one this Monday. Cheers

some info i came across that be helpful to all.

So right now it appears that the saving over setup options aren't quite working as intended, but I did find a work around.

Say you already have a setup, and you make a small change to it, and you then have to save it to use it out on track. So you go to save and you'll be prompted to save over an existing save file. So you'd naturally choose to save over existing save file, and it saves, and you expect it to work. But it won't.

So what you can do, is choose instead to create a new save file. A dialog box will pop up with all the saved set ups listed with the top one being "Create New Setup". Instead of choosing that one, you scroll down to the one you want to save over, and this way, the set up you wanted to edit is now saved.

It works

This is the info I received to help aid with delay between menus.

@SGETI
Go into settings on the PS4 system menu (picture of a toolbox)- select
Go down to application saved data management- select
Go to saved data in system storage-select
Go to delete- select
Go project cars2-select
Tick all the boxes with tuning setup
Move across to the Delete box and click then click ok
smile.png
then just exit back to the game and enjoy fast menus again?

Thanks for the heads up @SGETI .
Regarding the aid to help with delay between menus though, since it seems it has to do with saved tunes/setups, won't the same issue with delays reoccur in a matter of time, perhaps even soon, as you once again add more setups? My hunch is that it reoccur since the bug still exists.

Got a refund on PC2. Going to wait it out and hope they deliver a finished product eventually.

Might see what kind of reviews GTS gets in a couple weeks,

I was being sarcastic about the menu loading (Though sometimes it randomly goes through it fast.. once every 10 days)

The new tuning calculator spread sheet has been released. Go over here for more info.

Here ye, here ye, the preliminary version of the suspension calculator for Project CARS 2 is upon us. I haven't had time to prepare anything for this release other than the calculator itself and some very basic instructions. In the near future I intend to make some videos explaining it a bit more, but those of you familiar with my work on the Project CARS suspension calculator of yore can get a start on it now, as well as those clever enough to figure it out by themselves. =)

The download link be here:

I'm screwed!

Guys, hope test night #2 goes well.
I'll be eating and drinking in Old Quebec City tonight but I'll still be wondering how it's going. I just hope you can keep Lobban in line :D

Don't know if I'll be there tonight. The wife seems to have come down with some kind of virus... wonder where she caught that? Plus, I just don't have a lot of love for the new game yet. But that doesn't mean we can't still have Monday night shenanigans and fun. We'll see if Mumma is feeling okay enough for me to disappear into the basement for a couple hours, but if I'm not around, I'm taking care of her and junior. Have fun all.
