So do i order AC and GT Sport or wait for GT Sport and go with Battlefield 1 in the mean time?
It looks like a good percentage of us here have preordered AC and if online is better than PCars the series will likely switch platforms.
GTSport wil have to prove its better than AC or PCars first.

I also pre ordered AC. 2 more weeks... I can't wait.
I'm in that boat too. If AC is as good on a console as it is on PC, GT Sport might be a pass for me.
I'm coming back from a trip on the 31st,trting to set up a remote control to download AC on the 30th...

I'm probably getting GT SPORTS because it is another racing game and although might not be as good as AC or PC it's definitely a fun alternative to enjoy in between really serious racing league races.

See @FlipJ just checkmark "auto download".

That's good to know. As great as AC will be for single player attacks, and I'm hoping the AI is good to keep me busy, we really have no info on the multiplayer abilities. I'm gonna wait for the price to dip a bit (Amazon always sells new games at 40 instead of 60) and by then you guys should have an idea of what's going on league-wise.

Livery choices for Sunday night.

BMW : # 20 Wild Antonio
Ford : # 67 Luigi
Merc : # 29 Karsten

Everyone still committed?

Lessen, how should fuel be set for qualifying?

Since I fugure everybody has most likely been practicing with 90 liters, it would be best if we stuck with that for qualifying too. Keep it simple.

I'll go on to say that fuel for pit stops will be at drivers discretion.

Now that school is back in session and the kids are getting in bed at a decent time, I may be able to drive again.

All this AC, GT and PC talk is really making me miss GT6. It sounds dumb but the thing I miss most is driving the street cars. And not the super cars, the stupid slow ones. Finding the diamonds in the rough. RS200, 2000GT etc etc. I want my easy to use interface, spec racing, easy photography and street cars.

It sounds like I will continue to be disappointed because GT Sports will be missing most of the street cars I like. AC and PC are mostly race cars, over complicated and not spec racing friendly (assuming AC is similar to PC due to being race car centric).

Heavy sigh.

I will wait to hear all your reviews on AC before even considering it. But I really want my old eccentric street cars back.

What about being race car centric has ANYTHING to do with being spec racing friendly? You can have spec racing regardless of the car. Are you saying it's more fun with street cars? If so, that's just an opinion. Factually speaking, the game works with spec racing. You set it up and you're not allowed to tune. Works just fine.

Sorry just had that on my mind for awhile.

The game obviously doesn't work with SPEC racing....which is why this particular series has been shut down. Have you not been paying attention? Pit stops, tires, fuel, weather etc do not work properly when set to tuning prohibited.

Most Race car centric games usually focus on, guess what, race cars. Race cars are nearly infinitely tunable and these developers want to showcase how you can tune these cars to suit your style. This is why PCars didn't even consider SPEC racing when they made the game. And with all that adjustability comes complication. Which I despise.

You definitely CAN have spec racing regardless of the car. But PCars didn't do it. AC probably won't do it. iRacing probably doesn't do it (I honestly have no idea but I'd be surprised if there were a tuning prohibited setting).

Now for the opinion part of the show...I PREFER street cars like I mentioned earlier. Not super cars like Pagani, Vette, McLaren etc etc. I like the weird stuff like I mentioned earlier and I like them stock because I don't like to have to spend my time tuning. If I choose to race a series I want to know that all the cars are at the exact state of tune as set by the lobby. If I lose it's because they are better than me driving that car or practiced more or both...not because they set it up better than me.

I get it now. I wasn't following that closely for the explanations though. Weather is one thing and you can put that aside like AC does. One less things to go wrong from a programming stand point. I get that. But tires and fuel? What was wrong with those? Was there nothing restricting how much fuel you start a race with? That's in the setup screen so I assumed it would spec everyone at a full tank, no? And tires? What does it do wrong?

PCars will not start everyone with the same amount of fuel. So one car may start with 20 liters and another at 100. And you are wondering why you can't catch him because your car weighs so much more.

You also can't specify which tires are available at pit stops. So you can't make everyone pit and run a specific tire compound.

And as a league organizer you can't watch replays and tell what tires they are running so it's a real pain.

I'm sure there are several more issues but my brain is fried from working around the house today.

So basically all things that can be solved with the honor system? I know that's not much but it's something if you had to grasp straws to make it work.

Yeah, @JoeW is hitting all the major points. Default tuning was an afterthought. The details of lobby settings never got porgrammed properly to work consistantly for spec racing.

Spec racing isn't truly spec unless you can control every aspect of the car that could be adjustable. PCARS is a fantastic games that simply isn't a great platform for a highly organized spec league.

I agree with Joe on another note. My gut tells me AC will not include any type of spec mode. True spec sim racing may be out the door after GT6. That would be very unfortunate for those who just want to compare their driving skillset alone.

@JoeW
PC and AC have they're good share of cool mid size street cars. Of course, nothing will ever beat Granturismo's insane amount of cars because the path is definitely turning in a different way.
There's one thing I will never understand about you Joe... How come such a nice competent sim driver like yourself can't feel the spark of the absolute real thing? The power, the braking power, the aerodynamics and the mechanical edge of a true racing machine?

I have no problem with holding one-off events using the honor system. Nothing wrong with that at all. But there's no way I could justify running a league that way. People get competitive. Morals tend to be shortlived when pressure is applied. That is simply an unfortunate truth of society.

Refresher for tomorrow night's race. (So we don't have to search).

I like racing but I am a Virgo perfectionist. If I don't have the time to devote to tuning a car and testing it then I don't want to subject myself to racing in a series that allows it. Simply because I know I will end up making excuses...not enough practice time, not enough tuning time etc etc.

I love the driving experience of PCars. The sounds and physics are to die for. But I have a soft spot in my heart for my odd GT6 street cars. Peugeot 206 Turbo anyone?

The over complicated interface, FFB and tuning have turned me off a bit. If GT6 had the PCar driving experience I'd have my perfect game.

I think part of the reason I like the street cars is because they couldn't be adjusted...so by default it was spec racing :)
