I think if you had a wheel, you had an advantage. There were very specific steering angles and speeds you had to hit, and if you did on softs, they wouldn't even turn yellow/orange/red. There were a few times where I took T1 flat out on 8's or less and the tires still didn't light up. Ended up lasting almost 25 laps on one set. All I did was try to take the corners as fast as I could without heating up the tires too much so they would last. Averaged low 1:04's on fresh tires, 1:05's all the way down to fours, and finally into the 6's below that. Once I got slower than 1:05's I pitted. :) Went for average laps, rather than fastest laps. Wow was driving on 2's on a lap or two hard though. o_o

Awesome! Sounds like some awesome racing last night! 👍 Congrats @BionicDerp 👍

I was in the race shop putting in the new 16 gallon fuel cell and putting in the new fuel lines. Racing begins in 2 weeks so don't have much time to get everything done but it will get done
So does this mean you aren't going to be around these parts as frequently again come soon?
Oh, what could have been! I had a lot of fun, and was at least trying to watch the rest of the race until I got DC'd from the room again. The mediums were absolutely killer out there, but I was pushing way too hard too often, and I think I wore them out too fast. It was very difficult to keep up with late night and derp, and I was always worried that Dolph was going to catch up while my tires were worn out.
I think you were pulling me enough early in the stint that I wasn't going to catch you. It's hard to say exactly how things would have turned out with me pitting one or two fewer times. You probably would have still had me. Unfortunately we'll never know. :(

I was getting killed in the flat turns before the tunnel. I could keep pace with you guys around the rest of the track. As for lap times, I dipped into the 1:04.9XX's a few laps. But that was all I could do on those hards. I mainly ran 1:05's until a few laps from the end of my stints, where I was running 1:06's until my tires would completely fall off and I'd be putting down 1:07's just before pitting.

Edit: double post :dunce:

I want a do-over with softs this time!

Second gear corners. Brake early, guide it to the inside, full throttle straight across to the second apex, lift at the start of the curbing, glide through, tap the brakes if you like, light throttle to turn in, slowly apply early on to get the exit just right so you're within a couple inches of the tunnel wall. :P

All that and having a wheel. :sly: I do think the greater degree of rotation you get in a wheel helps a little bit in getting through those tighter turns. I can only push the left d-pad button so hard (or in rare occasions pull the left stick so far over). And soft tires probably help as well. (though it sounds like I'm just trying to make up excuses now...I needed a better strategy for this one :D)

I'll still be around for another good month or so then racing will begin and I mean I'll try my best every week to race with you guys on a Saturday night but most likely the only nights I'll be around to race with you is if the races get cancelled due to rain :(

Good thing I'm racing over at WRS on Wednesday night's basically just to keep me up to speed so when I come back I won't be rusty but instead just as fast or faster :sly:

That's a scary thought. :ill: Even rusty a few months ago, you had no problem beating the tar out of us.

 yeah when I first came back with the cobras I was right up their still.

Just figured it be best to stay up to speed while I'm gone or get faster while I'm gone for GT Academy probably next year.

I was using barely any steering angle. I was just going "slow". Was trying not to wear the tires, remember? :P

Sorry for not showing up yesterday, I am having serious connection issues since the last update. I decided to stay in the RACE room and don't ruin a serious race for others (and I was disconnected anyway :grumpy:)

This week should be a blast! Sauber C9 around Suzuka! Sounds like a challenge! I'll be their! 👍

Big car around a tight track! Should be interesting

With a fast Group C racecar out there, I predict quite a few runoffs, sand trips and spins.

@Psycho Turtle, is this race supposed to be this coming weekend or next? The schedule shows it being next, but that is Easter weekend. Did you mean to have it this week instead?

Yeah no kidding! I can imagine tire wear and fuel playing a role in this race as well as its 2 45 minute races so it should be very interesting

If you guys would rather run it on the 11th just let me know and I'll change it. Thanks!

I'll make and schedule a Turtle Racing League Ph1sher Special 2 hour Enduro shootout :sly:

would anyone be interested in trying a multi class enduro this week or just a class of cars? Opinions?

Micantony - I'm totally down for any ideas you have

I remember trying out all the "classic" LMP cars at the nurb. This thing is faster than the 787B if you can believe that. haha 787B got around 5:45's. and this thing got into to 20's. It's crazy.

a 2 hour enduro is only worth the trouble if there is enough interest. At this late notice it would be better to keep it simple with either a one make race or a group of cars we already know are basically equal.

If there is interest, i would think trying to find some fun gt300 ish type cars or maybe some club cup cars could be a fun diversion. Something in that spec range (lower HP, decent grip) seems conducive to close racing for all skill levels.

I'm just not sure we can drum up 10+ guys who would be interested in a 2 hour enduro :-) and without that, a bunch of short, varied races might be a better option where guys can come and go. Like Shuffle racing. who knows, just thinking out loud. not sure what the majority of our casual members would like to do.

This is what I was referring to, Psycho. I was just wondering why you had this weekend planned off and not next. Wasn't sure if you meant that or not. :)

I think slower club cup cars would be fun. Or maybe some random one make races.

Sounds good!

I think since its a week off i might just take the week off and get my race car finished up and get my Turtle Fuel all fueled up for next saturday then

see, now you guys are talking right up my alley. Those cup cars make for some great racing for all levels of drivers. i didn't want to mention them, but that is exactly what i was thinking in my little head.

someone list them all:

Lupo Cup Car
Beetle Cup Cars?
Nissan ____ Cup Cars?
Any cup type cars that are FR?

then we can find a good track(s) and throw this together for this week. No need for it to be "official"; let's just have some fun with it!
Whether it be enduro or otherwise depending on who's interested. I always vote for enduro (the longer the better) but i know that limits the field of drivers interested, so i am good any way it is decided.

we could do two 20 minute races reverse grid in each of them too...they are so easy to drive, no need to practice much.

Edit:
If we decide to do a set of two 20 minute races in each car, we could actually do all kinds of cars and keep running races until people got bored. But we could have a list together for the first 3 cars/tracks to get started with.
Now, if we do an enduro 👍:dopey:

Lupo @ London would be fun if it wasn't too long because we can't take pitstops.
