➋ Turtle Racing League - RUSH | Friday Night Racing | JOIN TODAY!Open

If you start at 10:30 EST in have a chance of getting home in time.

Two races or one? If two I can make it to the second one.

I'll be honest I'm not much of a tuner. In fact all I did was add Racing Suspension: Soft, Racing Brakes, Transmission to manage gear changes mid-turn, and ballast position. Oh and those clutch plate things. But no LSD. I don't know how to work that magic.

That's why I made an app (check my sig) It take a lot of the guess work out of it. The out of the box tune is pretty decent (some say it's perfect ;)) It's a paid app at the moment, but I am working on an ad supported one, but I don't have a time line for it yet. Might be a couple months still.

As for getting in on this series, I am usually only available on alternate weeks. I can't this week.

A few comments though:

Why is a rear wing mandatory? If this is a tuning event, shouldn't that be up to the tuner? Also, just like the problems with the other events like this, there is a weight and power cap, but no PP cap. Without that, it's just going to be imbalanced and like we saw in the other races like this, if you happen to land on the wrong car, it's a long night.

I was reading about people being surprised by the lack of speed in some cars (GTR, AMG) but those cars need more power to get the higher speeds, so when you cap the horsepower for all cars in the same way, those cars are screwed.

If there was more investigation in how to balance the cars, then maybe. Or fewer cars (like maybe 2) where the regulations brought the cars really close together and the tracks alternated to one over the other. As it stands, it seems like the regulations are just too arbitrary (btw, I don't mean to disrespect anyone for the time they put into those choices, but they just seem like they need to be reviewed).

This is what i would suggest, as I mentioned, I would pick 2 cars max, then a PP limit that allows one car to hit the minimum weight, but not the max power while the other car hits max power, but not min weight. Just my two cents

Sorry Schmiggz, I'm likely going to be busy tomorrow evening.

I know how frustrating it can be for people not to show up for races you've prepared. The DTM races I set up a few weeks back didn't see a whole lot of people participate. And by looking at the results of the FLEX races last week, even fewer people showed up for that. Unfortunately it happens sometimes, and there's not much you can do about it. If you don't get many people to show up, you can always ask Psycho to postpone it to another week. He'd be likely to oblige (though I don't mean to assume). 👍

stick to one car and one track and you'll have better participation IMO. :sly: I know i dont have time to practice different cars and tracks in the same week, so I generally skip those multiple event weeks you like to do Dolph; sucks, but just being honest :grumpy:

I am in as long as I get home from work on time. So far I am setting up the car I want and tuning for GVS.

Before posting ideas on how to change the even, give it a go. There is a small percent of drivers even trying to create events. Just have fun.

So I've been slowly testing cars for my series, and I have figured out that the PP rating is crap. I can run same lap times with cars that have a 30PP difference or so. What I have been doing is bringing the car's hp and weight closer together, and then trying to achieve a very similar top speed at the end of straights. then, depending on the car's characteristics (weight, tire size, drivetrain) adjusting the hp slightly to take or give away an advantage. I hope to try the series soon, but I've been too busy as of late.

Sorry for the wall of text - just skip it if you like. :D

Yes, the PP system is crap. Some people would say broken, but it isn't. It's just that some cars have a little extra (probably for licensing purposes) that give them the edge. What is DEFINITELY broken is the tire model. You see, they updated the tire model drastically from GT5 to GT6 but the pp system did not get the overhaul (apparently) and the grip system did not either.

So, the current RH tire for instance gives the same lap times as the old RS tire. The grip multiplier that is assigned to each tire step now makes each tire exponentially better than the one step below it. This means that when each car's grip is thrown into the mix, you get these wildly variant results. Also, keep in mind that the PP system was designed to adjust based on the tire choice. A 500PP car on RS tires is equal to a 550pp car on SS tires.

The best thing to do for competition is to narrow things down as much as possible. 1 car is the ideal scenario, because everything is equal, but you can mix things up. For instance, if you do European FF cars over 1000kg and under 450pp, you get really close results. Also, try to stay close to the stock tire or maybe one a step away, just to keep the balance of the game intact.

example (I am making up numbers for illustration, but this is how the game currently works) - let's say you have two cars. Car A has a grip of 1 and Car B has a grip of 1.1 (10% better)

let's say you go to SS tires from the stock SH tire. SS tires give you an increase in grip by a factor of 1.2.

Now, Car A has a grip of 1.2 (it's original grip * the tire grip factor)
Now, Car B has a grip of 1.32 (it's original grip * the tire grip factor)

Car B is now over 12% better.

Let's say you go from SH to RH, the grip factor is now 1.35

Car A gets 1 * 1.35 = 1.35
Car B get 1.1 * 1.35 = 1.49

Car B is now 14% better.

Now, the numbers don't seem like huge changes, but it's a really bad game designer that thinks minor changes don't add up to massively different experiences.

Race Recap

Some battles are won before they are fought. Although Psycho-Tuber (me) didn't get the Pole or the Fast Lap he handily won the race. micantony and Xrad-11 managed to keep pressure on him through most of the race, but Psycho-Tuber finally put some space between them after the last pit stop when the longer stints from better tire wear took their toll. lightningdf22b1 benefitted from very late pit stops for a dash of fuel from Xrad-11 and micantony who had been running 2nd and 3rd respectively. lightningdf22b1 ended up in 2nd Place with Xrad-11 finishing 3rd and micantony taking 4th. schmiggz was running in 5th Place until the last corner of the last lap when pressure from RacingOtaku86 sent him into the grass and off the wall handing RacingOtaku86 5th Place with schmiggz taking 6th. We would like to welcome Die_Birdy_Die to the Turtle Racing League and thank him for his participation. Die_Birdy_Die did well and finished 7th out of the 12 drivers who started the race.

my post was only meant to further enhance that the BoP on many of these cars were closer than the results show. I had typed up a longer message, but it got lost somewhere and i didn't feel like retyping it. :dopey:

true, that first stint we all were close until we (well at least I) started screwing up

I have soccer tomorrow night. I am hoping to get back in time. If I am not there for the scheduled start, go without me.

Btw, what page are the current standings on?

no worries mate, you've done well and you get to drop your lowest 3 results (which can be tomorrow's 3 races). You can stand pat...
