Hi everybody (read with same tone as Dr. Nick in The Simpsons)

I acquired 1.000.000 km with my Mitsubishi Eclipse in February, but I haven't posted the actual pictures to prove the facts until now. Neither pics, nor the story behind.

I have actually no idea exactly why I decided to run 1.000.000 km. I think it was just a question inside me - what happens when you reach 1.000.000 km? Will the game blow up? Will it reset to 0 km? Would it be stuck at 999.999 km?Or will it pass 1.000.000? So, I found a 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, bought it new with 0 km on it, and started the B-Spec. Now, some people would claim B-Spec miles is nothing to be proud of, because you haven't driven yourself. I understand their arguments, and agree - to a certain point.
I am not saying "Look, I have driven 1.000.000 km, but at the same time, I'm proud to have reached my goal. And it's a lie to say I wasn't involved, I was really enjoyed, even let the PS2 run at night.
The car was bought with 260 bhp, then driven and tuned to the maximum. A max. tuned Eclipse with 0 km on the clock will have 500 bhp, however, mine does 469 bhp @ 5750 rpm and 591.43 Nm @ 4500 rpm. Interesting, 31 bhp loss over a million. I think it stops at 10.000 km or something, but I'm not 100% sure.
So what did happen? Well, the in-car clock actually stops at 999.999 km and doesn't move anymore. The clock in the garage continues, though, and mine reads 1.014.131,8 km.
This is no photoshop/GIMP mod, it's 100% untouched apart from being re-scaled. You might not believe this, that's your problem, but you have my word, and a friends eyes also (I've neeever bothered him with this before).
Thanks for looking at the 1.000.000 km project. One million, that's a lot.

Wow, what an achievement! I doubt one of my cars has reached 50,000 miles, yet...

I'm not sure if you've seen this before, but here the achievement has actualy been done before back in Janurary, in a Volvo 240 GLT by Boogieman, here

Still great, none-the-less. 👍

No, I've never seen this. It's fun other people are as crazy/weird as me!
By the way, it could go weeks without the Eclipse running. My car usually did 300 km/h, so I had a relativly big advantage over the Volvo. If I had run continously, I think I could have done it faster.
Still, very fun to have done 1.000.000 km! 👍
I wonder if PD has tested the game like that.

OMG that's just bizarre!!!! How many days/weeks of continuous running did it take you?

I don't know exactly, since I ran in periods, but it went on from June 2005 to February 2006. However, to give you some pinpoints, I sometimes ran at night also, covering over 30 hours (3x speed on the B-Spec). I probably let it on for 24 hours once or twice, then it would get maybe 12.000 km. I recall at least 8.000 km on the screen after the night shifts.

Sooooo... Is the race now on to see who can hit one million km (or miles) the soonest? Just doodling a bit with a calculator I reckon a car that can average 250 mph (367 km/h) could do this in a little under 5 1/2 weeks.

I'm sorely tempted to take a stab at it, but I don't think I want to tie up a PS2 for that length of time. Any takers?

thats amazing, and no i wouldn't try it. I got the ps2 slimline so i would probly overheat. you could try that with a used a car and save youself about 50000 miles.
