I've kept on taking cars off my shelf and cleaning them up, but I hadn't had the time to postpro the pics. I decided I'd take off the Cipsas and redlines next, as they are, at least in the case of the Cipsa cars, pretty damn valuable, and they were an absolute mess. But I'll show you one of their partners, a 1970 Ferrari 312P redline. Here's how it looked.

And here it is all cleaned up. I can't say it's all shiny as the paint has lost it's shine with the years, and well, HW's enamel paint sucked in the Spectraflame era, so that's to be expected. The car is far from mint, came in a cheap redline lot I bought a while ago that contained decent cars like this one. This was one of the cars I bought the lot for, as it was red and not a Spectra color.

Aaaand like this, diecast Ferraris in 1:64 go to the deepest depths of hell and stay there:

Because, complete with chinese car-like wheels, these things are 7 bucks. SEVEN. BUCKS.

I'm laughing maniacally right now.

The casting doesn't look too bad, wing mirrors aside, so I think a wheelswap would make it perfect... Or it'll be like polishing a turd.

Of course the casting isn't bad, they're the Kyosho bodies but all cheapened up, with painted lamps instead of plastic and stuff. And of course the laughable wheels.

You have the worldwide Ferrari license to do these, and you do this crap, and then charge like they were worth it. Way to go.

Ah, that is true. Forgot about that.

Should have been Kyosho getting it. Then they'd be worth it.

Considering how Kyosho's been rehashing old castings recently, I would think they aren't in a position to drop a load of money on future investments yet, so acquiring a license from Ferrari for exclusive rights is probably one of the last things they'll want to be doing at the moment.

these things are 7 bucks. SEVEN. BUCKS.

BUT IT'S MADE IN CHINA!

Bought my first Kyosho Minicar yesterday. First time entering the high-quality realm of 1/64 models. It's a black Aston Martin DBS Carbon Edition. Cost me $100 (~13 USD :scared:). As expected, it's a huge leap in terms of quality from my previous Tomicas. The paint job is fantastic, with only a tiny paint chip coming off on the right of the car. I'm pretty satisfied with it, with my only discontentment being the wheels don't turn freely (why did Kyosho have to make the wheels so close to the shell? :ouch:), and the fact that the underbody wasn't painted. I preferred the orange one, as the painted grilles and carbon bits would be much more visible. Alas, it was sold when I visited the store for the 2nd time. Now my DBS looks just like a normal one. Will definitely try to exchange it for an orange one if I saw it next time. @RCKakashi14, does Daboxtoys allow exchanging model cars for ones of exact value on site, even if there is no receipt? My bad I didn't ask the shopkeeper for a receipt.

Also saw an Aston DBR9 and a Porsche 911 GT3R Hybrid (the one with the race livery). Both were really expensive though, with the Aston costing >25 USD and the GT3R costing around 21 USD. Even a normal 458 costs at least 14 USD.

Here are some pictures of the DBS:

A few pics of it with its base:

I know it's a bit like comparing apples to oranges, but here's a comparison between the Kyosho DBS and the Tomica GT-R.

More pics can be found on my Flickr page.

Evolution of species. Aston Martin has really stuck with the VH Platform despite being a decade old.

Any more pics of the Aston Martin DBS? As you can see, I'm a huge fan of that car.

@GT HP Nut, you can find both the DBR9 and GT3R Hybrid for lower prices if you're patient.

I'm also pretty sure no one will do an exchange on an open product as there is no gain for them. If it helps ease your concerns, the wheels being too close to the body is one of Kyosho's typical manufacturing flaws. Several of my models sit slanted even. Some times the axles are clamped between the interior piece and the base preventing the wheels from rolling more freely. This is also very common, and it should be noted they are not specifically built to roll like a toy car.

Kyosho seller to recommend: nikomekun.

Shipping rates are higher than most competitors, but this guy sent me a hand towel as a surprise complimentary gift for being a returning customer. As inexpensive and currently-useless as it is, it is a nice finishing touch on customer service.

BUT IT'S MADE IN CHINA!

Worse of all: it seems that those were found in Hong Kong, which means no overpricing from import duties and taxes. I want to see these for $10 everywhere just so I can laugh more.

Honestly it wasn't. Lets just call it a happy coincidence. :D
C'mon. I had to pick a good time to post it

It's all good mate. Only teasing. 👍
$250 is steep.

Yeah it is but when you factor in that the three patrol cars separately would have been, what? Between $20 - $30 each? It brings it down a little. But have to agree with what @a6m5 said. If I had that kind of cash to splash on a model, I'd go for one of the car transporter's instead.

You got off lucky there, so that's something
Yeah, I'm glad I didn't give in. He was pretty persistent.
Nice 917K. Lights look a bit elongated and a tad rectangular, but whatever. The livery makes up for it.

[/hypocrisy]
My Gulf one(not the RLC Gulf) wasn't like that. I'll try to find a pic of it later.
I've always wanted that 917.
I 🤬 on that purchase. For those four, unexpectedly high shipping brought it up to $40. Totally not worth it. :ouch:
Well my Nismo GT-R's are in the country as of yesterday. Let's see how long customs decides to hang on to it.
I take it it's a TLV, from Japan, so L.A. Customs = Forever

Did you say that they were looking at Kyosho casting? or Mattel?

I guess I should be glad. If they looked like Kyoshos, that would've been more cars for me to buy. Thank you for saving me money, Burago or whatever your name was! 👍

*insert same meme*
No god no! Scalper prices no!!!!
Honestly, it doesn't do anything for me. If I see it in person, I'd look at it, but it's a maybe at best.

Man, how much better would those GT-R's be without the front plate? Don't understand why they did that.

I would like them without the plate as well, but it is true-to-form TLV. Obviously no text on the plates, but you can't drive a car on the streets without a plate. They have always said it is about how the cars would look on the road.

Insane how good those look. I should have mine by Friday. I cannot wait.

Omg no.

I just noticed right now the cards are either meant to be put together like that, or the graphic designer was creative with tessellation. The blossom flowers join together at each card's end and the tree there almost does it too.

That's neat...

Of course, there's the possibility graphic designer did not intend for that to happen- but fluked out anyway. In which case, screw him.

edit: but in case you're the boring type who doesn't care, here's a database table to look at instead:

Logging the entire collection on MS Access. This will serve to verify the outdated folder I have, and it will allow me to create queries ANY time I want.

I just don't like front plates. Glad AZ doesn't use them, and even though it was required in CO I never ran one there either.

My two from Japan Booster:

Tomica Limited Vintage LV-65b Datsun Bluebird 1200 Deluxe

LV-81a Datsun Bluebird Estate Wagon

Edit: Seriously, how good do the Datsun Trucks look? (if you can bring yourself to scroll past the GT-R's) Ugh, I wish the invoice from AmiAmi would hurry up!
...........My truck really suck in comparison. My trade hotline is open. :P

I don't mind them. I just wish they didn't make those things look so damn thick. They look like ten plates stacked together.
