Edit: And I think it's because the rear wheels are put through a lot of stress under hard launches, so the hubcaps may have trouble staying attached. Maybe @Cano can correct me...

you are correct sir...

and road going is all how rugged you are.. one of my father's friends got a steal on first car back in '71 a mopar (don't recall the model) factory lightweight... complete with pull up and strap windows (not roll up)...
apparently the dealer that had taken it on trade had difficulty selling a heater delete car in northern Ohio...

but he dailied it untill he "got old and wanted A/C" about 10-15 years ago

From grocery shopping just now:

I did end up putting one of the SLRs back. I already have one, so one spare for me, another for de nephew. Green Mini & everything on the red basket's for de nephews. I was excited to finally find the Volvo, but front detailing looks bit rough to me? I never get that kind of first impression from MBX, so I don't know..... Still no Skyline(MBX, hakosuka). :(
Just had to go back to your blog post on that to remind myself what it was like. Yeah, nice but not worth the price tag, imo.
Well, in certain aspects, IMO, it blows every competition out of water. It's a incredible model. But there are couple of spots like somewhat sloppy paint(not GreenLight bad, but considering price tag) & that roof decal that really reminds you of plastic model waterslide decal. Overall though, I'd do it again for $30. 👍

Looking at this pic again, wheels could be lot better for the price. It looks passable for cars costing less than $10.
I passed up a ton! I'm sure they'll pop up soon for you.
Yeah, I've yet to see it, but I'm sure they'll come around eventually. 👍 I wonder if they've done a red one.... :D

It's usually an owner's preference, not necessarily offered that way from the manufacture.

Well, those two main points sound about accurate, especially the second one. After all, the rear wheels are the ones where all that power and torque go first and foremost for those 11s (burnout terminology! :dopey: ), so I wouldn't be surprised to see a pair of hubcaps pop off like popcorn in a microwave once the power's put down the rear squats down as a response...

Of course our good friend, the legendary Mexican American car encyclopedia Cano can prove to both of us whether or not we have a point with all this. Let's just see how long it takes for this discussion to peak his interest. :sly:

Of course, I'm not saying it was a bad thing that these cars were considered road-legal somehow, despite having almost no creature comforts. But it takes some proper commitment to drive these monsters on a daily basis; the American manufacturers built these with the biggest goddarn engines for homologation purposes and to get said big goddarn engines in the NHRA and NASCAR.

Of course, because they were still sold as if they were you average Polara/Fairlane/insert other car name here, you weren't completely forbidden of driving them on the road. But man, having a car with no A/C and enough power to empty the fuel tank in about 30 minutes... The wallet cries man, the wallet cries.

May I ask though; why are the rear rims devoid of hubcaps while the front ones have those? Was it an intentional real-life thing for weight saving's sake? That is probably the case, but it makes the car look a bit... I don't know, uneven.

They come from the factory with all 4 hubcaps. When the owner gets to the track and drag tires are swapped on the back, you get the look depicted on the diecast.

Today's hunt.

Nice little 3-pack, just for the Viper, got most of everything I see now though. Might leave it till after new year, plus what Santa will be getting me I hope. I'll post better pics of those as soon as.

I did end up putting one of the SLRs back.
My store had a couple last night, both had the plastic bubble crushed. Picked one of them up, along with an Auto World Galaxie in white (can't find the black one and still deciding if I want to spend over $10 to get it off eBay)

@a6m5 wha... I preordered those????
Did you? I just remember talking to you about the release delays. :D

I haven't even seen the new Auto World in stores. They are usually $4.99 in stores, but I found a deal online for just $1, 2 more, so while I was sure I'd run into one locally, I pulled the trigger on both black & white. I'm not a racist.

Like, more hot wheels?

Had made a quick detour before meeting colleagues for dinner last night:

Boy was that a good run. Didn't expect to get this lucky, especially with the Alfa. Perhaps now I'll go return the Lambo using the receipt for this Alfa.

Saw that Track Day Chevelle as well, but the A-pillar tampo was a mess.

I've seen the Forza set, also the Lambo & couple other cars I can't recall, but I passed. I think I want the Alfa, but even that one is a game time decision for me.

My Dad text me today with a picture of the Fairlady 2000 asking if I need it. Obviously said yes, so I can stop complaining about not finding it now. :P

Edit: And this happened the other day. And it's not cool...

Lately I've been thinking about selling most of my Hot Wheels and such to make room for more racing memorabilia and model trains. I definitely need the room so I most likely will but the problem being, right now (and likely once I start selling) is I can't sell online so I'm limited to flea markets, model train and toy shows/sales and the like. Even though as I said I need the room (and the money to be completely honest) and have all the motivation in the world to sell, I'm not looking forward to it. Especially since it won't really help too much at all in the end. :indiff:

I hope they took a cue from Hot Wheels & produce the heck out of this. I've yet to see

I'm having a similar dilemma with the storage space. For me, motivation to get off my butt is even harder, because I need to see which models I'm willing to part with, so I can keep collecting without fighting for more storage space. It reminds me of when I was putting together my Desert Island top-10 list. "Selling" those cars actually feels sacrificial. I gotta do it though. No, I can't collect 'em all. :( :D

Happens once in awhile.

It happened to my $50+ Tomica once. Seller refused to communicate & eBay let me keep the money & the car, all for busted up box. All I wanted was either discount for the damages on the box, or return it for full refund. Mailing collectibles in envelope's just asking for it. :dunce:

@a6m5: I'm thinking about just throwing a metric :censored:ton of cars together without thinking about it and calling it a day. And on a side note, I still have my 510 that was #1 on your list. Still carded and in near perfect condition too. Luckily it's a premium car and valuable one at that, so it'll automatically stay with me.

She's a keeper. It is so awesome loose that I don't regret opening that one at all, but I wish I kept the card. Who knew value of that car would surge like that! :embarrassed::crazy:
I personally think it took a lot of people by surprise I'd imagine. Closest thing I have to it are a few loose Red Barons and one still carded which is the 25th Anniversary one.
