I can't get your pictures to work but I'm onto the site and looking around now.

EDIT: I copied and pasted the URL's. That van he made is pretty wild. But how exactly do the posts work? Do you drill the Whole post out of the car and replace it with these screw on posts?

Cheers, Cougar23

You wouldn't consider selling that Chev to me would you Jetboy? Seeing as though it has my number on the side an all. 👍
I didn't read fully in-dept with the Gruman build, but I assume he drilled a small pilt hole, seated the post, and glued in place. I did catch epoxy is a fail. I personally am a fan of Gorilla glue myself, as it's completely indestructable. If I can find a secondary Bel Air, I'll sell for just the price of shipping. But I've only seen that one once. Ever. And we have two Wallmarts, countless grocery and dollar stores, gas stations, The Mall... Same with the blue '67 Charger, it's a one-off so far. :shrugs: I'd say wait lest you pay $6 in shipping for a $1 car.

Cheers,
Jetboy

Edit: Didn't see you Twinmill entry above. Buy that!!! That's a very serious investment. Pity it's not with the blister pack, but the button makes it worth a bit more. I'd venture it's worth currently about $100USD.

Nice models GM, reminds me of my old collection of Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars. I had at least 400 cars, however because I was about 5 years old I dipped them in Whiteout to repaint them, lol. Only about 30 or so cars survived, and those I still have today. I still have a few bags full of cars stored away somewhere for safe keeping. :)

I modified mine by colouring them in blue + red marker pen :). All of my cars are normally in shoeboxes under the wardrobe but I saw this thread + to take some pics :D

Holy crap GM, car overload. You're sitting on quite a fortune there, keep it well. 👍 I have one Premierre car: The '92 Testarosa. ;)

That reminds me. The Alleged GT500 Shelby I was on about earlier this week.

I've actually seen a bunch of those Bel Airs at Walmart the other day, was debating on picking one up or not.

I like your Purple Passion but I'm talking the first edition kind of purple. I don't know why I want it in purple so much, probably because that's how I originally saw one in that game.

That is one epic Twinmill, but more money than I could put down to get it here. I was lucky enough to get the money to get the ones I'm getting now, I can afford about 10 more cars, lets hope I find some good ones.

Yeah sadly I don't have the moeny either to get the twinmill (16 and no job) but I do have my eye on just a badge which is going very cheap which I will def. pickup if possible. I put a coat of clear over the other two (GTR and camaro) and I have another project currently underway. will ppst pics of all tomorrow if I get a chance.

Jetboy: Don't worry about the Chevy - I found one in Australia on ebay fairly cheap and will get that.

Cheers, Cougar23

My brother has the Testarosa, but he took it out of the plastic packaging so now its just in the cardboard box.

About painting, I've had bad experiences using paint stripper, but then again I let it sit in a soda can full of it over night. Got the paint off real quick, stubborn pieces came off with an air hose, but when I went to paint it it must have somehow gotten deep into the metal and the paint really didn't like that.

I want to try to paint my twinmill like the classic ones, both top and bottom, but should I still sand the bottom part. I know it's bare metal (unless they put a coating on it) but I just don't want to go to paint it and have it not stick.

EDIT: I have that same Chaparral Jetboy

Great news!

What?

You got a Dacia Sandero Hot Wheels car???

@ GM: I gots your Cooper S and 350Z, and the red Porsche in the 2nd pic.:sly:

Anyway, took a good look at my collection yesterday and I also have:

2 Lotus Elises (1 entirely black:tup:)
1 Lotus Exige
1 Ferrari F430 Spider (white with black wheels, racing stripes)
1 Alfa Romeo Guilietta (i hope i spelled that right) Sprint GTA (My personal fav)
1 Acura/Honda HSC Concept (can't remember which; WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME GT4)
1 Ford GT (yellow w/ black stripes)
1 Ford GTX1 (white w/ blue stripes)
1 VW W12 Nardo concept
1 Ferrari F50
3 very old Burrago Porsche 911 racers (yes they're 1:64)
1 Top Fuel Dragster (got it at a dollar store:sly:)
1 Suzuki GSX-R/4 concept
2 Jaguar XJ220s (1 almost new; the other incredibly old and worn)
1 infernally beat up Porsche 959 (was my older bro's before)
1 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X
1 Honda Civic Si rally car
1 Ford Mustang Mach 1 '70 (Hot Wheels Classics)
1 Chevy Chevelle convertible (Hot Wheels Classics)
1 Lamborghini Murcielago cop car
1 Porsche 911 ('80s?) cop car
1 Citroen DS (love this car :D)

...I think that's all the highlights (see post #166 for the rest of them). Eventually I'll get around to putting up some pics, if you want them bad enough.:sly:

Bought a few more today. I've always had a thing for towing vehicles, which is why I bought that flatbed which moves back and forth. I've never seen a GTX1 on the shelves before so picked that up for the hell of it, and I've been wanting a double vision because it reminded me of that game. The main attraction is the Barracuda though. I just had to have it, but at $5 it really broke the bank. My budget is now between more cars or cigarettes, and I think the addiction is going to win out.

Hahahahaha

I guess if you ever choose to quit, a good way to start would be to think of every new pack of cigarettes as another wasted Hot Wheels opportunity. :sly:

I finally found a Purple Passion I liked enough to buy

The only problem is it's tiny

It came with a cool display case but I'm currently using that as an extra axle holder.

A lot of good posts to address here. So, here we go.

Diablo: Trust me, I'm quite fond of the first editions Purple Passion, and I had seen one before, still in the blister package. I didn't have enough to buy it, unfortunately. Quite a while back, and I'm talking 2002 or so, Hotwheels released a series of 1:24-scale cop cars. One was a Purple Passion, done up as a Black-and-White. I'm still looking for it... I also have a few of the 1:80 scale cars, one being a black metallic with flames PP. I also share your affinity with anything that tows, so here's another look into my near future:

Cougar: Good deal on the Bel Air find. 👍

GM: Then we share the same scenario. I was dumb and openned mine as well, but luckilly, not so dumb that I discarded the "matchbox". ;)

Driving Park: Nice collection. 👍

In other news, my mrs complimented me on a few that I got, and she reminded me of a set she has: 1976 Hot Wheels 5-Pak, Bicentenial Chrome. All five cars are there, including Twinmill, Formula 5000, Neet Streeter, Rock Crusher, and... one I forget.

Cheers,
Jetboy

Nice Barracuda and Purple Passion Diablo'
I have just been sanding mine back a dfair bit then Etch priming them then painting over the primer. It has worked well with both spray paint's and Tin/Brush Paint's. I don't really trust all those chemicals (Paint stripper) because I don't know if any residue is going to be left behind wihch will screw the paint up.

Cheers, Cougar23

Yesterday, I bought a Hotwheels Triumph TR6.This is what combo is: (pic from Hotwheels wiki)
800px-Triumph_TR6_-_1291ef.jpg

But it had some issues. First, on the back it had a big blob of paint, second, it had some paint "smears". Today I took it back and I got the exact thing. But also had a look at it. It's fine, except it has a little paint smears and a little bit of paint loss, but I don't mind.

Nice TR6 SVX. 👍 I myself would repaint it and fabricate a winshield for it. I seen some body do that on the hobbytalk forum and It looks great. You've got to expect those smears and paint stuffups on Hotwheels..they certainly aren't the best quality when it comes to paint but I guess yiou get what you pay for.

Cheers, Cougar23

Just search like "painting tips" and stuff of the like.

Here's more wasted money from my phone.

I like the Highway 35 Twinmill, when those came out was about when I stopped playing with them. I have a Scorchers Stingray and Street Breed Firebird, although they're in pieces because I took out their axles. I remember back then there was this online Hotwheels game where you could race people for points to get other cars in the game, lets just say I was glued to the computer most of the day. Did you ever see the movie for world race?

Speaking of cars in incorrect packaging I found a well played with 90s Jaguar inside of a new car package. Wasn't a Hotwheels mistake obviously but some clever kid was able to open it from the bottom, switch out the cars, then put it back together without it looking like it had been too tampered with.

I have one car from each team, whether it was intentional or not. The Wave Runner Deora II, Ballistik, Mega Duty, Twinmill.. and there's a few more I forget. Never got to see the movie.

Nice on the '90's Jag. Mine was a true Eff-up, however.

Hey Jetboy, Check this '57 Chev out that's on HobbyTalk. I posted at the bottom of the thread but I'll retype it her so maybe some of you guys cam answer it for me aswell. Check the thread then read my reply.

"I love this chevy JayM. Great job on the new engine and wheelswap. And add to the fact it has my favourite number on the side (also my birthdate). I am currently watching one on ebay and am going to buy it as I haven't seen any where I live. One question though... where are you guys getting the big block engines and rubber tyres/wheels from? I have yet to see any cars with either of these where I live but I would love to get some. Can you buy them seperately anywhere? Or do they only come on a certain car? I'd love to replicate you car JayM and also but a Big Block in my '67 Camaro. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Cougar23"

I really want some of those Big Block Motors but I haven't seen any around here.

On another note...I screwed up both my Fastback and my Twinmill trying to make a twin engined fastback. Ahh well, I don't really care...I didn't particularly like either of those cars. Well..the twinmill isn't completely stuufed it's just missing the motors. Maybe I can bog it up and sand it down really smooth and Make a 'customtwinmill'. I'll leave that one for a while and think about it.

I also put the Camaro and GTR Back together today. The GTR came out alright but the back window is pretty scratched (don't ask how) but the Camaro came up really good I think. If only imageshack would cooperate. My mum found me a Steel Flame ute the other day but it was this yuck green colour with gold rims and gold flames. I sanded it right back then polished it and put a set of the standard five spokers on it and it scrubbed up pretty good. Will post some pics of it too when I get a chance.

Anybody else been doing any customs lately?

Cheers, Cougar23

EDIT: Question aimed at jetboy: How much are Larry's garage cars where you live? And how much would it cost to send say about 5-10 of them? I really want to get a few but most people on ebay are asking about $4 US a car and then $8 US to send each car. I think if you packaged them up together you could send it cheaper. Could you possibly find out that info for me if it's not too much trouble. It would be greatly appreciated. I will have a look next time I'm in town at all the places that would possibly ahev them and if i can't come up with anything I might have to get some sent over from someone.

Cheers, Cougar23

Read that article, very cool. 👍 I need to get a new drill... My grandfathers is a craptastic knockoff with absoloutely no torque at all.

Those prices are correct, but if I gather correctly, you're asking that if, say, you gave me a list of what you wanted, I could then send them all at once for a one-time shipping charge. Guess you would buy them off me here...? Would you pay first? How does this work.

I have to say that I may just go and check the shelves for Hot Wheels after all these years... I want that red Charger Daytona. Then again they may not be even on sale here but if they are, I'll have one.

It's a very neat and cheap hobby, plus there's so much you can do with them. Go for it 👍

Picked these up with the rest of my money last night. I had been looking for that Volkswagen for a bit, but until then I only saw it in the 10 packs. And as for the truck, it was just cool, will be fun to modify. They had a ton of them up near the counters as well, but they were just thrown in there so it would have taken me ages to sort through, and the lines were ridiculous. My mom said she'd give me some money to pick some up this saturday, the Hotwheels sale ends at Walgreens that day, and you just can't beat 49 cents.

EDIT: Also I started painting my twinmill last night, sorry for the crappy cell phone pic. Going to do the top and bottom the same color. I sanded about 98% of it down to bare metal, looked pretty cool actually, then put a few light coats of primer on it. I won't be able to get to it for a few days because of Christmas but once I do I'm going to give it a light sanding then go onto the color. My friend doesn't have all that much of a color choice, he had yellow but when I tried it on a test model it came out like crap. I think I'm going to end up with either flat or gloss black. Flat would look really cool but I'm nervous about the lack of a protective clearcoat, but I guess if I mess up I can always start over again.

Nice VW there Diablo'. I want one.

Jetboy: Yeah that's sort of what I was thinking. You get the cars I need...I pay you (paypal?)...then you send them over in a single postagebox/bag... win/win. I mean...you wouldn't really be getting anything out of it..except the satisfaction of helping a fellow GTP Hotwheels customiser... I'm still thinking about it...if you don't have paypal then I have another guy (on Hobbytalk) that might be able to get them for me.

ON another note...I got a fair few new colours of paint (Hombrel) as one of my christmas present's as well as a few brushes so I'll maybe pull another car down this afternoon once the mad rush is over.

Cheers, Cougar23
