After while, you start lowering prices, or you lower it to the point you want to do something else with it. At least that's how I operate.

I have a tendency to do that when I want to sell. This time however, I'm listing off the castings I'm no longer collecting, but selling isn't my primary goal. It's a little complex. Basically, until someone wants to buy it off me, it continues to be part of the collection. If it sells, oh well, it's gone. If not, oh well, it'll stay in my picture frame.

It's going to be passive sales meaning I'm not creating competitive auctions, but rather another "store" listing for a potential buyer. Once I list it, I can forget about it. eBay will handle the rest until someone wants to buy it.

Oh I meant to all on this thread. Whoever has. LOL :)

Has been done many times.
If you go from the start of this thread, Daniel, and just read 25 pages a day - or 50 - you'll finally catch up with the present. Actually it's very interesting - you should try it. Mark down where you stop, and continue from where you left off; There are many, many rare cars posted in this thread, some by people who never come around any more.

If by 'rare' - you mean the following:

#A - out of this world (as in a chunk of moon rock.)
#B - hard to find (as in a 40 carat diamond.)

#1 - unique (as in the Mona Lisa.)
#2 - special (as in a watch worn by Neil Armstrong on the moon.)
#3 - limited (as in few were made -250 GTO comes to mind.)
#4 - out of circulation (not available anymore - a Model T.)
#5 - few surviving (as in a Bugatti)
#6 - expensive (as in a Bugatti.)

. . . then quite a few cars that fit one or more of the above have been posted in here some time or another.

And then there is the whole sentimental value to some cars that don't mean a dime in the marketplace, but are priceless to the individual collector.

What is the rarest car in your collection - the one no one else has posted here - and you cannot find for sale in stores or on the internet? :)

That would be rare.

Thanks man. :)

Id post some of my rarer cars or the cars that are more special to me but they are all stored away from home, but I am finally looking for my own place and when I get it Ill have to go through my collection and post some pics of the stuff that I havn't posted before. I also have a large amount of Lego to go through aswell so it could take a while.

I've just restarted collecting 2 months back.

Is there anything in your collection that you will not sell, Andy? Anything that is sort of a 'permanent' part of your collection?

 Of course there is. I post pictures of them all the time!

There's about 20-30 different castings I wish not to sell - or open the opportunity for others to buy. Usually it involves convincing myself to collect just about all released versions of them. That gives me something to do and when it comes to ones harder to find, that will slow down my spending rate. Other castings I've got were likely impulsive purchases.

I'm trying to manage this hobby in a complex way. On the one hand, I could give into my addiction and buy anything and everything I like, but I'd be spending more than I can afford. On the other hand, I could just stop collecting altogether, but it makes what I've already collected lose all purpose. I've mentioned it every now and then, I've opted to just collect a small number of cars. This gives room for new castings to be collected if I find enough interest in them. It also means the rate my storage units fill up is decreased, meaning I won't need to buy more space-consuming totes for a good while.

So that said, is anything permanent? Yep. Examples? Let me pull up my blog.

  • 24 Ours

Okay photonrider, I see your post you replied to, but like you, I don't want to make this one too long so I will reply to it later. ;) I don't like to make my posts too long other wise I feel like nobody will read them. :indiff:

Nice Nomad & Woodie. 👍
Which Nomad? There's two of them.
First - @Sonygamer - I have one of those muscle machines - the Plymouth Savoy. great finish on them - but they were not cheap. That pile must have cost you. I don't see many of them around anymore.
I'll have to look in my albums for the photo of the Savoy.

Edit: Found it -

I think I have seen that Muscle Machine before but I never got it. All of these were bought at Hobby Lobby a long time ago. I don't remember how much I paid for the ones I got at all, but I imagine they were about $4 to $5 maybe. To be honest one thing I forgot to mention is that some of them I posted were my dads and I my brother owned the '57 Chevy. It's been so long since I looked at them again. My Wal Mart just recently started selling them.
I normally don't go for stuff like that but the Woody is damn sweet. 👍
Thank you! :) That Woodie was one of my most favorite ones I bought back in the days, still is. :) That smooth paint job and awesome wood design still looks so cool.
Interesting cars, quite rare in Asia.
Indeed, although I wouldn't know about Asia.
It's okay if you've shared a car before. Both Cano and I, for instance, may post the same picture - or another angle of the same car - as the occassion, or discussion of the moment, requires.
For instance I've posted that Plymouth Savoy years ago - but wanted Sonygamer (and any other newcomers to the thread) to see it. :) 👍

Just don't post the same picture three days in a row . . . because then we'll definitely go looking for pitchforks.. . . .
Yea I agree. I did repost my Custom Police Cruiser and the Seasider along all of my other redlines so mustang fanatic and any new members to this thread can see them and I did of course make a new photo of the Seasider when replying to your other post just so it wouldn't be exactly the same. ;)

Actually - I love my Fords. Don't get me started on the other marques.
Yes, please no.

Same here.

Almost any materialistic items are for sale, for a price, but with things with sentimental attachments, I believe the price would be quite high. :D
Rare cars?

Hmmmmmmm.... I have yet to own one, I think.

*RCKakashi14 checks his display cabinet*
Same here, me thinks. I have castings considered "rare", but nothing you wouldn't be able to find if you watched eBay for awhile.

That..... is a oldie. Nice find! 👍
Group Shot for today - GT1 Class:
That is too awesome. 👍 Will they ever make the Toyota GT One? My other favorite is the 787B, which I was able to get thanks to your tip.
Which Nomad? There's two of them.
Darn it, I noticed just one. I think it was red.
(Ford GT90 and Viper RT/10)
Never seen that GT90. Nice! 👍
My lifted trucks
Are you getting the Back to the Future Toyota?

Except I wanted mine to have dem WHITE WALLS!

Odd thing to note is that the white wall version is on matchbox databases, but not the one with SF wheels. Could it be less common? I'm going to convince the seller to send me one with the WW, because let's face it, I didn't pay $7 for a BW Taxi. Going by the rules, he goofed up. :P

but instead I got this:
Wahappen?

Did he post a wrong pic?

I once bought a Johnny Lighting VW Bug Rallye, and I thought something looked off...... Since this was the "weathered" version with mud all over the tires, I didn't realize what had happened until I opened it, noticed the spare tire on the roof rack was also white....... It was White Lightning. I didn't buy the White Lightning. :D

Edit: This is why I (almost)ALWAYS snipe on eBay now. :grumpy:

It ain't over yet, but since the auction ends at 2 in the morning, I had no choice but to place my bid before going to bed. Since becoming the high bidder, he bumped it up $6 in two effing minutes.

Trust me when I say that it is the worst feeling in the world when you come home, or get up in the morning & see that you lost an eBay auction to some idiot who bid five times to beat you by 2 cents. :D

I get the feeling this 🤬 isn't done, so I think I may go bump up the price even more, let him overpay for the item. :P

To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed in the quality of this one. Before I found it, I was looking at the Mustang fastback and a '67-ish Chevelle with a plan on purchasing one of them when I noticed the Christine on the top peg by itself. The Mustang and the Chevelle were a lot better quality overall.

The first thing I noticed though was they have a mid to late 70's Trans Am now which must be a new release. (I've never seen it before)

I think I do remember seeing the Firebird on the new release.... release. You could flip that Christine Fury. When I saw it on eBay, I think they were asking around $15?
