Your paint is... Wow. I love it. I'd ask for a ride in it but I'm afraid I'd be sad returning to my GT4 afterwards haha! Who did your paint and panel? Are you happy with them? I want someone I can really trust to do the respray on mine

Ah mate, your GT4 will do things my car will never do... like cornering and out of the box acceleration, it would be crazy to compare them :)

Victory Motor Body Works @ Kremzow Rd Brendale do the work on mine, been really happy with them.

Have picked up an ADR approved vented Blits fibreglass bonnet... that will be getting painted and fitted next... not sure when.

Desperately trying to sell the Corolla at the moment... already put a deposit on a motorbike to take over as a commuter

and thanks for the kind words Paulie :)

Isn't that a Blitz bonnet? They're the only guys in Australia that can do carbon fibre bonnets or something.

Blitz if the japanese brand that does Boost controllers and all that stuff.

Blits is the gold coast crowd who do the fibreglass gear, and yeah its from them. They dont do carbon as you cant get carbon legal :)

Got it for a bargain too - $550... now just to get some flush hood pins and get it painted (eventually)

I think its due to carbon shattering once it reaches breaking point... pedestrian safety bullcrap.

Personally, if a pedestrian is stupid enough to be in front of a vehicle, I think it's just darwins theory at work.

in all honesty, at low speed, I can see the point... crumple zones in a steel hood will protect the person a bit, the fibreglass one has also been made with a similar structure under it to give it stronger and weaker points

With carbon, its list like glass when it breaks, at low speed impact with someone landing on it it would be pretty messy I would imagine

I see your point, but you see bloody big 4WDs that never actually get taken off road with massive bull bars that would kill a person and send them under the car to get run over in case it didn't kill them and they are perfectly legal. Where as a carbon bonnet that MAY break is illegal.

Its just like the way they outlawed pop up headlights. Wonder how many pedestrians have been saved since that design regulation came in to play...

Pop Up headlights illegal?

Is that just QLD?

My old accord had them and i never got told those are illegal.

What color is that?

Purple metallic?

Also one look at the car and i can tell the cops ride your butt about defects.

Actually, I've only ever been defected once, and that was for the carbon fibre bonnet when I had it... and I deserved that one.

The car doesnt get very much police attention at all to be honest, which I will not complain about.

The colour is Ford Phantom Purple with a Black Pearl mixed in

Grayfox

No, what I meant was that it's legal to drive a car with pop up headlights, it's just that the world wide governing body that dictates what new cars must have when produced (seat belts, seat belt indication light, indicators etc etc) has ruled out pop up headlights for pedestrian safety issues.

Notice that no cars produced in the last few years have pop up headlights.

Blitz, Blits, I'd only ever heard it mentioned, not seen it written so naturally I assumed it was Blitz. The Carbon bonnet rule is gumby, like Nick said cars with Bullbars are perfectly legal and that's about as bad as it could get.

Did the people that painted your car mix it up or did you buy if from a paint shop and supply the painter with it? Did they do a test lot for you to see the colour? You see I have a wicked idea for a colour for mine but want to see it before I go the whole hog.

By the way my idea is a maroon very close to what I have now, maybe a bit deeper, with a midnight purple pearl. Hoping it would be just really deep and dark looking.

The vehicle was already painted in this colour... luckily the painter at my paint shop had a keen eye and could match it :)

Belated update.

Just bought a halfcut. Was cheaper to buy that for the manual conversion than it was to buy a manual conversion kit by itself (been quoted about $3k for the full conversion)

Got all this for $2600... will have the motor and my gearbox to sell to recoup costs... plus all the other bits

Blits bonnet still hasnt been fitted... also bought some godfather headlight covers which will get painted at the same time

So yeah... will keep it all updated as it comes together.

Motorbike goes on the road in a weeks time too :)

Nice to see you're getting a manual in there, a shame you'll have to start from scratch with your engine modifications though. Are you working or going to Lakeside on March 24th-25th? I hope to be there both days.

Hey Paulie, not sure yet. It hasnt been rostered at work yet

Umm, I keep my engine in my car mate... its just the gearbox swap I am doing.

This engine will either be kept as a spare, sold off, or... well... I'm resisting temptation so far, but if a good rolling shell of any sort comes along I may just throw it into that with the auto out of mine

Whoops, I misread that, thought you were selling all your gear.:embarrassed:

Got stuck into the halfcut today... all of the front is off it, panels are off it, dash is stripped.

Next week will be cuttng out the radiator control panel with a grinder and then taking the engine and box out

Nice work man. Are you going to have it opened up and bearings etc changed before putting it in?

I'm a little disheartened with mine, its sitting on axle stands waiting for the fuel pump so I can put the tank back in. Can't mount up the battery until the tank goes in. Waiting on my fittings to arrive to do my fuel lines so throttle body, intercooler etc can't go back on. I just want to put it back together again! And its absolutely FILTHY, I need to give it a good wash and polish, but since it's in the garage on stands, not happening lol.

By the way man, work got crazy last week, but I did get your message, thanks for the call, I'll ring up sometime next week if I get a chance.

here is my number mate, just shoot me an SMS when you have a moment and if its not too busy I'll give you a call - 04## ### ###

Nice Soarer 👍

Advice: never post your number on the internet, you have Pm's for that. Otherwise a troll comes around and puts your number on an australian S&M forum.

Hope nobody now picks up that idea ;)

Engine and box is out of the halfcut. Clutch in it is shagged.... so will go a 6 puck button jobby. Still yet to put it all in though.

Also been tinkering with another project... will create a topic for that too :)

Oh, and thanks ibo... all fixored :)

I just saw your car for sale on boost Tim. It's sad to read about how crap it all turned out with the tuning and stuff and how you're selling it now but as long as that's what you want to do I wish you luck :).
