I usually dont post a lot on my car anymore because it always seems to turn in to a whose is bigger contest but thought Id share a few pics and some basic info...

So what's it run? 11's?

yea runs 11's on motor, dont have a cage in it as I have 2 kids that love riding in it so cant run quicker than 11.50 at any of the tracks around here. The car on a big shot would go mid 10's pretty easily. On the street w/ spray it runs with much higher power cars...

Beautiful powerband. o3o

Thanks! It doesnt make a lot of TQ but it sure does know how to use it! Best 60 foot of 1.58 for a full interior basically full weight car aint bad!

Thanks BaconDrift!

Thats a lot of lean..

Still nice to see that someone in drag racing actually likes going to the track too.

Sweet car!

Yeah I was guessing 11's @ da WHP.👍. Plus, since it's sitting in the staging lanes, I figure "what's it's run" would be a good question.:sly: I'm sure you're right about the 100 shot.👍 Those Camaro's are known for lovin' da sauce.:sly::sly:

Nice car by the way. :)

LOL thanks! It has 275# front springs so they are soft as can be and has preload bars on the rear end. I was still able to keep up with a Boss 302 mustang and a couple of C6 vettes, even had a few laps quicker when i let them give me room to actually drive. I understand a racing line and not everyone on a track does lol

This is the track we were on:

Yea Im running a stock 10 bolt rear end tho. With a 12 bolt and gears it would be a lot quicker but not as much fun from highway rolls.

The Camaro models between 1993 and 2002 hold a special place in my heart because I first got into the 1997-ish Camaro when I first became fond of cars back in 1998. Your Camaro is very cool, man!

Still stock rear end? How come you haven't grenaded it?

Well technically its not the complete rear end that came in the car. I grenaded the stock posi unit about 6 years ago. built a 3.73 rear end for it and 3 passes out, grenaded that wasting $1000. Went on craigslist, found a guy with a carrier and gears for sale. Replaced the carrier and ring gear only. Still running the original pinion with about 220K miles on it.

A4 - Performabuilt Stage 2 trans w/ Manual valve body & big converter

Ah, gotcha. Nice car man, it's too bad I don't really fit comfortably in 4th gens.

Partially answered but thanks to it being an auto there's at least a fighting chance for it to survive more than one launch.

Very nice camaro! I dont think there are too many people with those kind of numbers on gt planet so you must be winning the whose bigger contest! Are you one ls1tech too? I'd love see some more info on it.

Well Im leaving at over 4K on a foot brake and 26 x 11.50 slicks so it moves out

Yea im on ls1tech but dont post a lot other than in the local forums, AZ, where I lived, and TX where Im at now. If you wanna know more feel free to ask :)

Awesome fourth gen! Nice to see another fourth gen owner around here.

Thanks 👍

What head cam combo do you have in there and how big of a shot are you talking? I can ask about it all day lol I love the lsx fbodys.

Cam is a custom grind from Comp, ENORMOUS puts it lightly :) Heads are from S.A.M. 2.055 In / 1.6 exh

To give u a little idea of the cam specs, I patterned my build after this, only a bigger stick and less compression:

Hot_Rod.jpg

The motor was supposed to be a 434 but the shop building the motor went under and ****ed me on my deposit so I was left with scrounging together a forged 347 for the time being. The combo was fun enough for me I am still enjoying it on small cubes to this day. 600 hp on motor woulda been a blast tho....

On old converter 10" 4k (3300 on foot break) and a 75 shot is when it went 11.19. The motor is setup pretty loose and I have a dual stage setup for the car that maybe Ill put on one day. I was hoping to make it to TX2K this year but with a baby on the way I just cant afford it :(

1/8 mile the car went 7.0 @ 100

Wow that cam is huge for a 347! It surprises me that on the dyno it didnt make power past 7k really, ive seen similar combos all the way to 7500 rpm.
You answered my second question though, why it only runs 11.7 on motor with those numbers, its built for spray.:D not sure if this has been asked but what are you doing for tires? l

The converter is loose and setup for nitrous so the 1.58-1.64 60 foot times it manages are killer. The car only makes power to 7K because of the intake more than anything. Im running a Weind aluminum intake that has been port matched and the tbody opening changed to 85mm from 80mm. Its port matched to the heads and powder coated to match and I have a lot of $$$ in it (for reasons not obvious to the naked eye ;) ) but Im probably going to need to go to a single plane with an elbow and a 90mm tbody to make power on the small cube to the higher RPM

I was running BFG DR's on the street, and still not hooking, so I went cheap and put a set of Sumitomo 275's out back on SS wheels for street duty. For the track I run a set of salad shooters with 26 x 11.50 M&H cheater slicks 👍

The car started its life with me as a cutout / 3K Hughes converter / 125 shot setup and would run 12.1's @ 112 all day long, well until a bearing had enough abuse at 212K miles :)

Ive havent really heard anything about the weiand lsx intakes, but you need something like a fast 102mm for those rpm. ive seen similar cars with them make well over 450 rwhp. I really like to see what it does on spray though being fully forged you can spray the mess out of it. Going single plane seems like alot of trouble for a 347 car arent you worried about losing low end on the street/road course?

When the car was bone stock I dynoed it and it put down 288 hp and 302tq on a very greedy dyno. It only make 60 more tq than stock, but an extra 140 hp, so Im not too worried about tq. With the big convereter you ar always in the powerband. On the road course I was having to keep in in second pretty much the entire time because there was no traction when Id accelerate in 1st. Ive ridden in and driven some high power cars, 600+hp vettes and vipers, and a great frien of mine ahd a Evolution motorsports TT 996 making 600+ and its a blast and all at speed, but getting it moving on the street can be interesting. I feel 400-450 for a street car is all u can really "use" for old school stop light racing.

I'd be lying if I disagreed, even with 400 rwhp your going to have traction problems at all legal speed which is what I'm shooting for in with my car. I've got probably 100 less hp than you and still cant hook it up it first or second on the street so I see your point. Not to mention after 400 hp parts to keep up get awful pricey.:grumpy:

true this is from 04 when the car was all stock. u can see a whisp of smoke through first

That thing moved out pretty quick. I have the same problem through first; no traction whatsoever and I have to baby it into second. Nice part about lsx is that they make power on the top end versus giant torque off idle which does more harm than good.

yea my car was pretty nuts for stock. I always seemed to get the person in the other car to either screw up or have a failure of some kind.

I have a buddy with an R32 Skyline.

I replaced the transmission in my car and put the stall in it. Had the cut out and converter, paper filter even and pulled him from a roll twice and he got me from a stop til 75 then I pulled him to 160 (limiter). He got a tune and turned up the boost and put it on race gas w/ an intercooler sprayer. ran 12.7. So I went and bought a used nitrous kit, $250 and used slicks for $100 ran 12.3 for a whole lot less :)

Looks like you got one of those factory freak LS1's that I've heard about. I'd love to dump some money into my 4th gen but I'm torn about it since that money could also go to the C6 instead and now that the Camaro has been bumped to winter, it seems it'd be pointless.

Actuall 288 is normal they have been known to make 300 to the wheels stock.
Factory freak is a dirty word around the lsx people.
