Looks like you got one of those factory freak LS1's that I've heard about. I'd love to dump some money into my 4th gen but I'm torn about it since that money could also go to the C6 instead and now that the Camaro has been bumped to winter, it seems it'd be pointless.

I like to think it was about the driver ;)

Here's a video of the car with Hughes converter, cut out and 125 shot:

2 weeks later at a local track event we upped the shot to 175. Spun a bearing in the burnout, lined up. launched the **** outta the car and got a 1.54 60 foot and the motor promptly threwa rod in second. Had a 700HP 996 Turbo at 330 feet by a ton when it popped. My guess was a solid 11.50, Too may miles too many RPM :(

Heres the damage:

Factory freak. We stopped that stuff years back.👍 I'm a member on ls1GTO.com also a Ls2 GTO owner since '07.👍

The fact is Ls1 were underrated HP wise from the factory so they would not be seen as a threat to Corvettes.:sly:

What he said. Many a Vette owner was upset when running my car or my friends SS. Hers was bone stock with a plate kit jetted on 100 with a wheel well bracket for the bottle. street racing was great

All the ls1's made the same power no matter what. The camaros were just underrated

Back then, yeah pretty much.👍 The Camaro received the lower HP rating for a engine with the same specs.:yuck:

330 hp Vs 285 hp I think? It changed year to year. Camaro always stating lower.:(

💡 Until GTO  ( Haha maybe not)

There's no doubt in my mind that the F-Body LS cars made less power than the Corvette, it just wasn't much less. Both intake and exhaust were likely quite a bit more restrictive on the F-Body than the 'Vette (in fact, I'll guarantee the exhaust side of it), but not the 40hp gap that GM claimed.

I can see maybe a 10 hp difference but nothing that really mattered. If I remember correctly the power went from 285 to 305 then
325 for the 02 ss cars with no change whatsoever. gm was still playing games because of their precious corvette.

The story I was told by some is that the cams in the 98 Camaro and corvette started out different, but mid way through the cam from the vette started making its way in to the Camaro. I've also heard that the same cam was used in both cars and different power numbers give. I can tell you that my car made power to 5800 on the dyno, but from the factory it was rated at 305 hp at 5200.... Kinda like they used to do in the old days...

On a different note. My cousin took place in some market place tests for the ZL1 Camaro before it was released so she has it in with some of the GM execs. A few months ago she ordered a special edition Camaro. You cna find the car on Facebook at Tom Henry Chevrolet. The 1st production 2013 Hot wheels Camaro and its in Blue!

Gm likes to play that game more than anyone. I mean everyone knows an ls1 doesn't make peak power near 5200 even stock.
I haven't heard of the hot wheels cars, is it just a graphics package?

I haven't heard of the hot wheels cars, is it just a graphics package?

•ZL1 rear spoiler (coupe models)
•ZL1 front upper grille
•Ground effects package, including front splitter and rocker treatment
•Black 21-inch wheels with red outline stripe
•Two-tone matte hood graphic and rear taillight panel "blackout" graphic
•Fender "flame" graphics
•Hot Wheels grille and decklid logos.

The car is at Tom Henry getting some performance upgrades, she has told me what upgrades yet tho!

looking for some of these pictures I stumbled across some pic of other cars I've had

camaroshomepage.jpg

the 98 on the left. Center my dad's 95 Brickyard 400 Z28 Convertible. Right my old 96 Z28 6 speed. Hot cam, headers, no muffler :) so fun 13.2 on steet tires!

So its basically a zl1 appearance package which is pretty cool.
Your quite the camaro fan I see, the white z28 is quite nice.

Yea pretty much all I've owned.

Started out with an 86 Sport Coupe

1986SC.jpg

Moved to a 91 RS

1991RS2.jpg

Then the I was given an 83 Mecham T/A (Also Daytona 25th Anniversary)

1983MSE.JPG

Then the 98 Z28

frntrght.jpg

Then picked up a 71 Camaro as a project (never went anywhere) was a shell that I primered then sold

Then I got my first non Camaro, an 87 GTI as a DD, great on gas and reliable as hell.

Then moved on to a 98 GTP in silver which I traded for the black Z28.

Sold the Z28 and picked up a pair of 93 Pontiacs, one T/A on Formula.

Which I combined to make into a hybrid 93. Ended up building the motor with hot cam and exhaust. Never to it to the track but it was quick.

Then I picked up a 96 Camaro race shell and stripped the T/A for parts to build it. I still have this, its full cage, glass front clip, etc, just waiting for a motor.

The White Camaro, my dads, got a hotcam kit and a wicked suspension setup a year ago but blew a head gasket. The motor I build for the above car is now sitting in his garage waiting to be installed. Its a 355 with flat top pistons, solid roller cam, 12.5:1 compression blah blah blah, should make 425+ on the ground once he gets it put in. Oh and it has a direct port kit for another 25 a hole :)

Ive worked on a ton more fbodys and wanna start up a shop in the next year or so if I can get the funds together.

Yea I wont be spending much on my car for a few years now, baby on the way and all. Id definitely do exhaust on that vette!

Ya, it only has an SLP loudmouth and a Vararam snakecharmer on it so far. Definitely thinking of the LG G6X3 cam and their Longtube headers sometime this season.

I usually dont post a lot on my car anymore because it always seems to turn in to a whose is bigger contest but thought Id share a few pics and some basic info...

98 Camaro Z28

Forged 347 w/ H/C/I/E

Below are graphs on pump gas

Switching to E85

Car runs 11.7's on motor E85
Car went 11.19 on pump gas and a small nitrous shot
Nice Camaro.

But
For the love of god please put a GPS tracking chip in that just in case someone decides to steal it. I hate to see another Jessica Barton.

What's Comaro? hehe

Well if Samsung wasn't racist about GM maybe auto text wouldn't think it was correcting me by replacing Camaro with comaro. Thanks again auto text appreciate your false logic once again

 I knew it was something like that.👍

I love that mecham T/A. Those cars are very rare and that one is in great condition.

Yea, I had it when I lived in AZ and actually took it to Dennis Mecham in Scottsdale and he authenticated it as bieng a genuine car. Had a knee pad on the center console, said it wasn't something they put on a lot of them. 👍

Saying an option is rare on a mecham trans am must mean you can count them on both hands. Very cool stuff but I have to ask why'd you let it go?

Needed money for other things in life lol Even thinking about parting with the Camaro now. Just dont have the time to give it the attention it deserves right now.

I love how that thing looks like it came straight out of Robocop or any other 80's film set in the near-future. 👍
