I used to use your times as a benchmark.
How about that.
I have been using Cargo's times as my benchmark (someone who usually beats me but someone I can often get ahead of at times) since GT5 but lately it's been Nowcontrol, Zona99 and Wauk-azoo, not necessarily in that order.
Yes it would be good to compare against your own, as you say.

i have just registered to say that due to this event I'm on the verge of tears now, I have been brought to the limit of my nerves and now I know for sure that despite hours of real life track racing experience I am a sh**ty driver at most. I have done 10:06 with GSX-R/4 on DFGT after exactly 96 tries (I couldn't even get to finish line in the previous 95 ones). I'm so pissed I'm not gonna play GT6 for the next month.
Thank you for your attention.

I have found with this event is not to try too hard. I have used several vehicles and even on tc 5 I have got under Gold time, and I am below average.
Keep trying, don't over drive you'll get there.

I was like that too

It's only a game mate, don't let it get you down :dopey:

Using the Lambo Miura, I've been able to run a very nice 9:17.700 lap:)

The Miura is very fast in a straight line, but you have to be very careful going thru the corners so you don't lose the back-end. I have also found that it is very sensitive to running over the kerbs, so I try to remember to stay off the rumble-strips for most of the lap.

Great fun!
See you on the track!

I know the feel mate, this is not conventional track and besides driving skill you need a lot of consentration wich is not so easy to keep up on this wide track with lot of flat out sections. On more intense track it's easier to keep up the concentration since there's so much going on all the time. Here I forget to wonder the wideness of cosmos while I'm driving  It can get bit booring...

but... 9:49? probably a chimpanzee could do it :D
Maybe if it's well trained  Naah you'll do better if you try, it really helps to get couple of clean laps first. But at least I think you maybe got the monkey off your shoulder just by getting a lap done, well done 👍

I did a 9:33 which is good enough for 2858 which I know I could do better but after messing up 3 different times on the last corner I quit.

I know the feeling dude... It wasn't too long ago that I would want to throw my PS3 through the wall because I just couldn't get a Gold Medal time no matter what, on some events. Then I started following these weekly Seasonal Event threads religiously and I started getting better. I'm still not one of the top drivers in this thread - but I can usually get Gold Medal times without too much effort. You WILL improve. Trust me.

Didn't run the TT last night, but invested an hour in to running T3 and T4 in the practice events... now think I have a much better feel for the final 1/3rd of the course... Thanks for the heads up 👍

Will give the full course another run tonight :)

Edit:

I'll also post the tune that I promised - forgot last night!

I used the setup given here and did a 9:49 after two tries, but still... turns out i'm a crappy driver anyway probably :P

 You see? Persistence wins. 👍 Now try shaunm80's Shelby Series One Supercharged, it's a nice stable & safe car.

I want to throw my PS3 and my controller threw a wall right now, 9 hours of running this seaonal, and due to lack of track knewledge I have yet to get a green lap. lots of red golds.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Finally decided to do this one just to get it done and get the chip. After 4 laps, managed to get the Gold and now done, not interested in taking it any further. I already knew the track pretty well after repeated running of the Sierra Time Rally, that's why I didn't have to suffer the frustration of many Red laps as some here have......I already went through the learning curve in the Rally events. I do feel your pain however, remember what I always say. With patience, comes success. 👍

You like many others have felt the same frustrations on this track especially with the GSX-R , I've lost count of the restarts I've had trying to better a "normal " cars time with the GSX-R , was on track for a 9.17 only to clip the last corner
Try the Honda NSX-R Prototype LM or one of the Ruf's, they are not as quick, but much easier than the Suzuki.
Anyway I'm of for another hour of frustration... I know I will eventually get it, don't let the game beat you.

Keep at it you guys, I have faith that each and everyone of you will get there if you just keep trying. 👍 If you find yourself reaching the point of maximum frustration, take a break and come back to it later. A clear cool head works wonders here. Good luck, look forward to seeing everyone's success stories of finally nailing this combo.

Knocked over 6 seconds off tonight to a 8'57.205... so many small mistakes in such a long lap... set that time with 496ppts as oil was on its way out.

Here's the tune I'm using - I'm sure I got the base tune from someone else, but not sure where it originally came from... likely either @eclipsee or @WhoosierGirl, but I'm sure someone will recognise the damper settings as that's pretty much the only bits left from the original set up.

Suzuki GSX-R/4 '01 (oil change, chassis strengthening)
Ride 110 110
Spring 6.50 5.00
Bound 7 3
Rebound 3 7
ARB 5 7
Camber 0 0
Toe 0.00 0.05
Brakes (racing) 6 3
Diff 10 12 10
All power upgrades
Ballast 183 @ pos 0
Wing 20
No weight reduction

Should be 263bhp, 823kg, 500ppts.

Gears - I'm not sure how to I got the gears as I can't remember what I set the final to initially. I'm sure @SW__10 set would work just as well 👍

If you want the car to be more stable under brakes and on entry, add LSD decel - but only increase by small amounts until you find a balance you like... too much will just give you increasing amounts of understeer.

If you want more entry rotation, reduce LSD decel.

I want to throw my PS3 and my controller threw a wall right now, 9 hours of running this seaonal, and due to lack of track knowledge I have yet to get a green lap. lots of red golds.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

The key to getting gold is not to try and drive the track flat out everywhere.

There's loads of slack in the gold time, but if you try to push to the limit on every corner you'll keep making mistakes... learn where the corners on to the long fast sections are and get those right as this will be least risk and most reward. Then you can take it steady through the trickier sections.

Got a 9'58" with a stock Tuscan Speed 6. I gave up on my quest to get gold with the RUF BTR and RGT. Surprisingly I got a quicker time with the BTR (10'08") but couldn't squeeze any more out of either of them.

Wow, I didn't even know this track existed! Ran the Rally event and then a few tries on the practice sectors to get used to the track.

Then took @shaunm80 's Shelby tune for a spin... lowered the final gear a bit to get more top end speed on the straights.

After a couple red laps, managed to post a 9:36.223. Not sure if I want to spend the time to try and lower it.

This track is lots of fun... but as others have sit it's a bit too long.

Don't really like the GSX but maybe I'll try it for comparison

Used Stotty's tune but had to make a few small changes ie, less weight = 137kg @ -10 (777kg), instead of 183kg @ 0.
That gave me 239hp....96.1% power, no oil change.
and LSD to 10 -5 10 instead of 10 -12-10.
I feel the lower weight allows me to take more speed into corners, seems like that to me anyway.

The good news is I have, for the 1st time ever here, completed 2 laps in succession, each time beating my ghost and
not only my ghost but Nowcontrol's too.
Now sitting on 9:22.744 and in 3 spot on my leader board behind Zona99 and Wauk-azoo.
So thanks Stotty for the tune, I have so far benefited by 12 seconds.
One question though, can changing the gears give me a higher top speed? I can currently reach just over 270km/h on one long straight.
Actually I'm not talking about higher overall top speed but quicker/higher speed in 4th, 5th and 6th.

Yeah, thanks Stotty. I tried your GSX tune out as well, ran a couple laps and got 9:26.xxx, so a definite improvement over the Shelby. May try again in coming days to see how much I can shave off that time.

Short answer is yes. Compress 5th and 6th to be equal length shortest possible. Make second as long as possible and valence 3rd & 4th to give a nice transition into 5th this will get you to 5th faster and give you more power at your top end.
Edit side note find the power fall off RPM and adjust your Top speed according so that your tach is coming up just short of this point so you get the most from the engine. You will prolibily only gain 5-10 km/h at best.

I've had a quick look through this thread and have not seen anyone using the RX500, I would have thought that would be right up there. I managed a 9:42 in the Mazda and a 9:40 in the Suzuki and in both cases it didn't feel I was pushing too hard. Certainly the Mazda is easier to drive, but the Suzuki has the fun factor for sure.
