BMW never really built them, hence why they dropped out. BMW was allowed to run the M3 GTRs because they promised to build road going versions by certain dates, but kept missing them. ALMS got tired of it and was going to give them heavy weight penalties, making them useless against the GT Porsches.

In the end BMW only got out about 3 or so M3 GTRs, and I believe most of them were sold after they had dropped out of ALMS.

Sorry to bring up this old topic but Event Horizon requested these.

806 horsepower... right...

I;m not saying it's not fast, but I think 806 is a bit optimistic. I'll believe it when someone actually dynos it.

Still, it's a cool-looking car! :)

It is dyno'd at 806bph...

I'm lucky enough to actually have seen one of these. Took a pic with my mobile, but it's useless and I have no way of transfering it to my PC.

I can tell you it had an underwhelming engine note, just a loud, dull droning, that changed pitch when the accelerator was pressed. Or at least it seemed so since there was an original GT40 right next to it, getting its engine revved. It was so loud, it hurt. :scared:

You sure it wasn't just a CC8S?

 why do you doubt the man?

And this is the press release. Let me find a better one.

(from Koenigsegg Press Release) The Koenigsegg is currently the fastest street-legal car in production with a top speed exceeding 390 km/h. The CCR has an acceleration that takes it up to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, with the CC8S not far behind in less than 3.5. They are made using state-of-the-art materials and technology; both body and chassis are made of carbonfiber, reinforced with Kevlar and aluminum honeycomb.

The Koenigsegg developed suspension system, modeled from Formula One racing, has been judged by expert test-drivers to provide better handling than any competing supercar. Its supercharged engine delivers 655 horsepowers and a torque of 750 Nm for the CC8S, and a colossal 806 horsepowers and a torque of 920 Nm at 5.700 rpm for the CCR.

Koenigsegg creates each car specifically for each costumer; they are individual pieces of art. They can be equipped to suit the costumer in a variety of ways, including the new and extravagant Twin-fin Wings, which provide downforce without obstructing the rear view, and the new 20" Koenigsegg magnesium wheels.

The design of the CC creates an impression of strength and flowing motion, and perfect aerodynamics have been achieved without compromising this aggressive beauty. A hardtop roof-panel, which is easily removed and stored under the front hood, covers the luxurious interior. The leather and aluminum fitted cabin incorporates all the top equipment for comfort and security.

Koenigsegg CCR

The new model CCR is the top version of Koenigsegg. It has all the features of the CC8S model but a refined design of the side air intakes, different headlight arrangement, a revised rear design, larger brakes, a more powerful engine and small performance enhancing modifications as well as new front splitters for optimized downforce.

The extremely favourable power figures are made possible thanks to use of a specially developed Swedish Lysholm twin-screw compressor and a new exhaust system made of titanium.

This takes the engine’s power output to the extreme peak value of 806 hp at 6.900 rpm. The torque curve also shows high values over a broad revolution band with a peak value of 920 Nm (678 ftlb) at 5.700 rpm.

As shown in the diagram, both max torque and power curves have their peak values over a fairly wide (1000 rpm) band.

The CCR is decorated with a ghost symbol. This is to honour the Swedish Fighter Jet Squadron No. 1 which had their fighter jets in the same facility as Koenigsegg now occupies. The ghost was the squadron’s symbol.

Lotus isn't entering LeMans (at least not the factory, merely a private team running an outdated Elise GT1).

The Maserati can run LeMans but it'd be penalized for not having enough road going versions. FIA GT only requires 25 cars, but for LeMans you'd need more. Running a weight penalty would make the MCC uncompetitive and hence pointless.

OK, if you need more than 25 cars to be produced, and the CLK-GTR was only made at 25, then why was it ran at Le Mans? Or the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail?

Koenigsegg is full of themselves.

They do not hold the fastest street legal production car in the world. The man himself, Koenigsegg, needs to research his facts before making a stupid statement like that. Its only estimated at that.

A full-on test has never been done. McLaren holds the record and will probably continue to hold it until an actual test is done.

He has the world's most powerful car.
I've never really liked Koenigsegg. The cars are somewhat wierd, and try to take on a mean look. They look somewhat mean, but nowhere near as mean as the front of Murcielago or Viper.

No I think Event Horizon doubted that Freddie saw a CCR. Anyways I think they hold the fastest street legal production car for a SEREIES. Thats what I read in my Du Pont Registry.

McLaren F1GTR
DuPont Registry. Waiting for my next issue to come in.

Believe it or not, but that is where I found my NSX.

Nice! I have seen quite a few of them on the DuPont Registry for pretty cheap! Like 35 - 40 grand! In excellent condition also.

I'll have to check DuPont's site to see what's for sale right now. I wonder how much a BMW 8-Series will cost me. Espcially a 850i. I'll have a NSX and a V12 850i!

That would be nice. But I'll wait until I'm out of college.

Different era, different class, different rules.

Yah, I have that DuPont issue, and I've seen the episode where Top Gear tests it. It came second in a road racing course only to the Zonda, and it was only by 0:00.01 of a second. Also, if it has 806hp, take off about 20% to figure out the rwhp numbers. thats about 645rwhp. Still pretty amazing. The reason it's so fast is because it's uber-light and you can take off the roof and another coupleof body panels. I'm sure that under full throttle, with the body parts taken off, and ideal conditions (cold weather, warm tires etc.) this baby can do 0-60 in 2.9-3.0 seconds. I see this car with a ton of potential, it just needs the distance to prove it.

I wonder,is this car finished? If so then why haven't they taken it to Nardo and see what it can do.Either they will prove that it's the fastest supercar or not.

For the doubters above, it was a CCR. I saw it at a sports-car enthusiast meeting, were the former Koenigsegg partner of this country, showed up with the beast, in it's full orange and silver glory. And since it was parked until the afternoon, a lot of people including me, got to study the car.

I'm not even going to attempt proving I was there, impossible as it seems, but I will provide you a gallery link for the event: http://www.sportsvogn.no/gallery/VM2004 (lots of huge images, beware LoBanders!)

Enjoy!

I am very happy that I believed you! :D Anyways this car is already out if thats what most people are doubting....I think it was out a while ago. I think the shipments started coming aroung Novermber or December?

Apparently they just haven't had the room and the guts to test it flat out. According to Top Gear anyway...They got it up to like 210 before he flew past a sign saying "BRAKES!!!" lol

Guys, they don't need just a straight to get 230.

The McLaren's 210+ mile record was set on big oval course resembling GT3's Test Course. THe F1 went into the bank and continued to climb even at banking turns.
I'm sure the Koenigsegg can do the same.

IF you go on the McLaren Cars site, you'd see it.

Dude, get over it. Even though it hasn't been officially proved yet doesn't mean that it isn't the fastest car. If i recall correctly, a Koenigsegg CCR was clocked at 248MPH during the Gumball 3000 Rally. Fast enough for ya?

That doesn't mean jack.

Guiness needs official proof from testers themself. There can be reasons for a car to do much faster than necesary. Going down a hill can cause even high speed.
