The all-new 2007 Infiniti G Sedan , which goes on sale in November 2006, is the second generation of Infiniti’s groundbreaking sport sedan. First introduced in 2002 as an alternative to the existing “machine-like” vehicles in class, everything about the new 2007 G is designed to create a more powerful driving sensation – from its rewarding performance and the sophisticated exterior, to the finely crafted interior and intuitive technology.

The new G’s exterior continues the original vibrant design theme with seductive, athletic styling that is clean, simple yet very distinctive. Key design elements include the sculpted grille blades, iconic headlights and taillights and the new, crisp character line that emphasizes the G’s aggressive rear-wheel drive appearance.

Inside, the all-new interior design is refined, inviting and offers a new level of modern warmth and hospitality. The G interior also offers unique features such as the white-and-violet Fine Vision gauge illumination and high-touch, textured aluminum-alloy trim with “Washi” (traditional Japanese handmade paper) patterning.

Available advanced technologies include RearView Monitor, a touch screen navigation system with available real-time traffic and the audiophile-quality Infiniti Studio on Wheels™ by Bose®, combining the industry’s first 3-way front door speaker array using 10-inch woofers with an audiophile quality head unit incorporating a 24-bit Burr Brown® Digital Audio Converter.

The heart of the G35 remains its advanced engine, platform and drivetrain, anchored by the “next generation” of the award-winning VQ-series 3.5-liter DOHC V6, now rated at an estimated 300-plus horsepower*. The standard V6 is mated to a choice of a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching or close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission. Steering wheel-mounted solid magnesium paddle shifters are standard on the G35 Sport A/T model.

The G’s second generation FM (Front Mid-ship) platform features a 4-wheel independent suspension with lightweight aluminum components and improved body stiffness. The 2007 G35 is also offered with Infiniti “intelligent” all-wheel drive system.

Comfort and convenience features include standard Intelligent Key with Push Button Ignition, available Adaptive Front lighting System (AFS), wood trim and Intelligent Cruise Control with Preview Braking.

Thats awesome. They didn't get too radical with changing the design of the car, and even when it's brand new, it still looks like the origional. It will be interesting to see how good it is compared to the new 330i and IS350, as even the previous generation G35 is still considered to be one of the best cars you can buy.

I was really worried about this car when we saw the initial pics for the upgrade, but it's come out very very nice... sort of like a mini-M35... which is good, as it's the sexiest Infiniti out there.

The overall shape of the car is quite nice. I especially like the rear end treatment. However, I'm not too keen on the new headlights. They are meant to echo the larger M, but end up looking like a cartoon of the big brother. Maybe it will grow on me after a couple of years.

I think it's interesting that since BMW has abandoned the "same sausage, different lengths" model strategy, the rest of the segment has picked it up. Looks like Infiniti is going with the "same sushi roll, different lengths" approach here.

Mixed feelings on the interior. The gauge cluster looks very trick with the techno blue lighting 👍, but why clutter up the design with the orange Audi wannabe center information display? 👎 Pick a color scheme and stick with it.

I dislike Infiniti's treatment of the Nav stack too. It looks like an ATM console, not the interior of a premium car.

However, the rest of the interior design is very nice. I especially like the new chunky, technical looking steering wheel 👍 And it's clear they've updated the quality materials just by looking at the pictures. The previous G was sorely lacking in that dept.

I've no doubt dynamically, the car will give the BMW E90 a run for it's money. On paper, the G's powertrain blows away the 330i's. If the chassis can keep pace with the engine, I'm looking forward to driving this car.

One thing I hope Nissan addressed is the structural rigidity of the FM. The previous G was reasonably tight, but not command bunker solid like the BMW E90 or even the old E46. I see no mention of any stiffness improvements, so I suspect it's not much improved this time around.

Without a super-stiff unit body onto which you can bolt the suspension bits, it is harder to blend sharp handling with good ride compliance. If the old G fell down anywhere, it's there.

Still, depending on how Infiniti prices it, it should be keeping some people in Munich and Ingolstadt awake at night. Competition is a very good thing. 👍

M

Am I the only one who doesn't like it? I didn't like the last one much either, but I have to say, I preferred that to this.

It's...neat.

I still think the M45 has better proportions (I even read in a magazine once that the Infiniti M is the car that car designers all wish they had penned, after the fact) but it's an improvement over the last G35, which, honestly, didn't do a thing for me.

If it wasn't night unto impossible to spec a G35 Coupe over here with a 6 Speed I'd care more, but I'm not into a sport/luxury car with a dumbstick.

I love that gauge cluster, first thing that caught my eye, and I can't help staring at it. The rest of the interior is pretty amazing aswell, right down to the shifter. The exterior is pretty sporty too, nice long hood with a short trunk deck give it a sporty feel too it, sort of like the new Charger only better. Definitly buy one if I was in the market and had the money. 👍

 Gorgeous. This car simply further cements infiniti's position as my favorite luxury automaker. Their range of cars far exceeds the competition in terms of overall appeal for me. And no, not even BMW comes close.

Once again Infiniti, you have knocked one out of the ballpark, nice job.👍

Sweet car. But one question...why show off the car driving in the desert? :boggled:

And yeah, it's very sweet. I would that the acura TL had an AWD/FR option. But it doesn't so that pretty much puts the G35 above it from a driving enthusiast perspective.

At the risk of sounding like a Euro snob douchebag, in terms of a driving enthusiast perspective the 3 series BMW is still better, and later on with the bi-turbo 3.0L it's not going to be short on horsepower either.

On paper the Infiniti and the Acura definitely win, they're bigger and have more luxury features and horsepower for the same price as a 3 series.

How come infiniti never gets the rear bumper right? If they put a lip-wing on the trunk edge, and then extended the bumper some while squaring it off, the car would look absolutely sick.

Why would you sound like a douchebag for telling the truth?

I totally agree. The ONLY problem with BMW is that you really have to pay for what you get. The G35 and TL are fairly decent bargins and give you the same realm of performance with more luxury, as you mentioned.

I think I could almost be indifferent about the looks of this car if it wasn't for thoes awful bubble hgeadlights and tail lights, they remind of the not as awful but still awful bubble lights on the no-longer-in-production Ford Cougar.

Look what I did:

Not perfect... I can only do so much, but I think it's a possible improvement. Depends on what you like.

Yer, the CLS Lights on that G35 looks good and gives it an aggressive touch:tup:

I like it quite alot, wish we got it here. The wheels look like something Alfa Romeo would make. :)

Visually, this is an improvement in some areas, and a step back in others...

Am I the only one who thinks Infiniti's designs range from boring (G35) to appalling (M-series)?

They're just soft, blunt, and are either mis-proportioned, or have weirdly-shaped parts...

Im with ya ;)

This one looks so much better than the current one! I just hate the design of the current car.
