Spanish bank, spanish driver, so it's natural the non official news about it surface in Spain.

The point he was making was that it wasn't exactly beyond a Spanish news source to take a rumour and run with it or just to make up rubbish for headlines when they are talking about their man.
If it was true, its not exactly unrelated to F1 is it? The major F1 news sites would have gone a bit crazy over it if it were true.
 
They did to begin with, but once Ferrari shot the rumours down, the major sources quickly learned. Even if it were true, who would Alonso replace? Raikkonen won the championship in his first year with the team - the first person since Mansell to do so (I think) - while Massa, aside from amateur driver errors here and there - he has an impetuous streak that Ferrari haven't seemed to be able to hammer out of him - has fought for the championship for the past two years. By all accounts, Ferrari are happy with both their drivers. Now that Michael Schumacher is no longer in the sport, they seem to have abandoned their policy of having a second driver just to make up the numbers.
