That's exactly what he's implying by stating the Venom is now the "fastest production car".

Last I checked my math though, 265.7mph is not faster than 269.8mph & 265.9mph, the 2 runs Bugatti did for Guinness to accept them.

Are all Veyrons limited?

Never understood why are they limited in the first place,it's not like you can max a Veyron on a highway and the tyre will explode

You may not be able to max it, but I've witnessed plenty of opportunities for people to push certain limits the law doesn't necessarily find amusing. I don't doubt for a second that there are a couple Veyron owners out there who've done the same.

Not going to discuss how much fast it is, it's mega. But Holy wheelbase, Batman! It's needed to keep things planted at godspeeds, but it does give an F1-like stance to the car. I like it.

I wonder if it is driveable in a daily basis, like taking a decent road trip.

Well that delimiter is causing problems the Veyron S.S record now has some issues
“It has come to the attention of Guinness World Records that there was an oversight in its adjudication of the ‘Fastest production car’ which was set in 2010 by the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport,” said Jaime Strang, PR Director of the company.

“As the car’s speed limiter was deactivated, this modification was against the official guidelines. Consequently, the vehicle’s record set at 431.072 km/h is no longer valid. Following this, Guinness World Records is reviewing this category with expert external consultants to ensure our records fairly reflect achievements in this field.”

Interesting

And VW will probably just start selling the Super Sport without the speed limiter if it really becomes an issue. Did the Super Sport use the same key system thing that the regular Veyron used?

It's on Jalopnik mate, sorry for not providing a link but my internet has been acting up.

That would also mean the mclaren's is valid as they removed the rev limiter.
Yep. Guinness won't do anything when that particular record was in their books for years & was done under the similar conditions.

Besides, I don't think Hennessey can claim his own car, either. I've read Guinness has a defined amount of cars needed to be built to be classified as a "production" car, & Hennessey doesn't even have 6, tmk.

Neither did Hennessey meet the Guinness requirement to do two runs and take the average of those two runs. Its just headline mongering by a smaller company, which is somewhat unnecessary given they are not playing in the same space as Bugatti when it comes to potential customer.

Good point, though on the YouTube page, someone from Hennessey responded to that by stating they did 4 runs & merely just published the fastest time to their page.

Both the Veyron SS and Venom GT are incredible cars. However, the Venom GT doesn't strike me as being as intense, seeing as it's stretched Lotus with a huge engine, albeit very well done, while the Bugatti was purpose built from the ground up to go really fast. Even if the record was totally legitimate, the Veyron would still be more interesting and exciting to me.

Looks like 3 of the Venom GT owners are also owners of a Veyron.

The venom hit 265mph in a recent run as it was published in April 2013's edition of Top Gear magazine.

Yep it is now the world's fastest production car.

The best part about it is that it beat the Bugatti's world record in half the distance

Exorcet
Not really an achievement. It's just lighter.
True true..
But still I have a feeling concept cars like the Chrysler ME 412 (if it was only a production car) could beat the Bugatti's record.

NO.......

Officially the fastest production car now is the SSC Ultimate Aero cause the Veyron SS had a modified speed restrictor.

For Venom GT to take the title it must attain its average speed over two timed runs and make more cars.

The Veyron SS never did actually as its in the Guinness world records still. Even if that did happen then the Ultimate Aero is not fastest since the koeniggseggegggegegeggggggg (sorry) Agera R does 258mph.
The veyron is the greatest production car of all time as it is a massive technical achievement. All the Hennessy venom and SSC ultimate aero are are lightweight cars with giant overpowered engines in them and that is why they have bad 0-60 times since they can't cope with the power so spin their wheels. They are also crudely designed and useless around tracks. The Veyron has gadgets and is comfortable and could still annihilate any road car. This is the supersport I'm referring to. No offence to you Americans but you are kind of getting owned by the Germans as you keep making cars that you promise will be fastest and they turn out not to be or they immediately get beaten by Bugatti. One example is the SSC Tuatara which has still not been completed. Anyhow why would SSC make a car trying to reclaim the fastest production car title if the Ultimate Aero already had it?
I'm sorry to disappoint but I am rather up to date on these kind of things and the Bugatti Veyron supersport with a top speed of 268mph is the undisputed fastest production car ever made.

Now if only there was a feather of evidence.

Exactly unlike the "super Veyron" which is apparently a hanger door.

Why would Bugatti do the same?

Because the ultimate Aero beat the original Veyron so the supersport went and beat that. If you want evidence then get top gear magazine and watch the shows.
The SSC ultimate aero was "apparently" complete in November 2010 and we are now in April 2013 and its still not here?

February 9th 2013
Venom GT 265.7MPH
Only video I could find about it.
So is this wrong or right?

DarthVader1
Yes it is right but it is not faster than the Veyron Supersport I'm afraid.

Oh ok. I had heard that the the Bugatti SS time wasn't correct or something had been done to it. Well ok then

Doesn't explain the super Veyron.

Care to link? The last Top Gear article talking about the SSC had good things to say. As did R&T if I remember. Never heard a magazine call them poor handling.

Not where?
