It's the offseason and the media has to talk about something.

Edit: I wonder if any NASCAR drivers will be invited to the RoC? Ryan Hunter-Reay from IndyCar has been confirmed but the other U.S. entrant hasn't and the Awards Banquet falls on a different weekend this year(unlike last year).

I doubt it honestly, if I had to guess maybe Tanner Foust.

Now back on topic.

It wouldn't surprise me about Danica and Tony knowing how he is!

How about Cole Whitt looking like no ride for next year from what I've read. I call total BS on JRM not being able to spread dollars to one other car full-time or even out of their own pocket considering how many they already have that are built. We know Rick is helping fund Regan big time now after what has happened but I really wish teams would step up and support newer drivers who are showing talent even if it's out of your pocket some. If Nemco can afford to do it on a limited budget and be a decent car them explain how big teams can't find a way? Some of these guys like Jr need to put more money where their mouth is because I don't exactly think they didn't have huge backing to help them.

One thing I will say, if I ever won the lottery I'd be owning a truck team!

If you're refering to Joe Dennete Motorsports (Who's owner won the lottery and is a friend of a friend of my uncle's), it's probably my favorite team in NASCAR right now. Small time, Joe cares a ton about NASCAR, and they haven't forgotten their roots like so many before them.
Allright that may all be from a guy who just got this +some shirts (Including a really nice "dressy" shirt) and a hat for a birthday present from them:
Hornaday.jpg

I just wish they had some results this season, I don't really know why they didn't do anything with Hornaday. Awesome dude though, from all accounts 👍
And I read it on Jayski's Silly Season chart, Ice.
EDIT: Exact quote from Jayski:
"Gordon is signed to a long term 'lifetime' deal with Hendrick, and Gordon says he plans to drive at least thru 2013."

I think it's stupid as well considering Whitt has much more potential at 21 than Regan Smith who is already 29. Don't get me wrong, I like Smith but think he mostly got the ride on the sympathy card.

Regan has talent but he isn't going to take the field by storm either. He will do good in nationwide which I'd hope so considering. Yet Whitt still is learning and shows some promises. Do I think Cole is next big thing, probably not but that doesn't mean he won't be a good solid driver who can finish top 15 or so most races. There are a few drivers that this happens to lately who been bounced around which really blows my mind because I guess teams want Nw titles or some crap.

Trevor is another one who is being strung along too. He has been with MWR and now with Roush we see how he cards unfold for him. Pastrana can all of sudden find ride over there but yet they have issues funding a car for Trevor last year. Give me a break!

Because running top 10 in substitution of Dale Jr couldn't possibly be the reason...

I wasn't referring to anyone really but I'm glad someone did it right without trying to make quick buck or half ass it. I really like trucks more than any other series and I think it is a good place to invest in motorsports.

Justin Allgaier as well.

I think a part of the problem is that it's just generally a bad time to be a driver coming through the ranks and unless you have connections(Dillon's) or have shown you can be extremely good(Stenhouse) you are probably going to be stuck going from team to team until a crappy seat opens up in Cup.

It helps that Pastrana brings in quite a bit of money.

Wasn't aware 1 top-10 with one of the top teams was good enough for a full time ride.

I do have one thing to ask, where was Hendrick in 2008 after DEI closed the 01 car?

Sorry, but 9 top 10s and a win in 165 starts in mid-level equipment is not that great. For comparison sake, take Paul Menard, a driver I would put on the same level as Regan, he has 25 top 10's in 216 starts in not much better equipment.I have seen the same thing in all motorsports, a driver has one good run and people make it seem like they are the next big thing, they usually aren't.

Different situations.

Regan went to the 78 after the 01. He wasn't booted out for a different driver during the season.

He was given the 51 ride though, which he left for the 88. He got screwed over, no arguing that, he also screwed Finch over as he had to scramble to get a new driver at the last minute. I'm guessing the only reason Finch was ok with it was because Hendrick helps him out.

I could see if he was left completely without a ride, but he wasn't.

The thing with the 51 is it has been screwed up all year so not shocking with driver issues. Regan had any idea all along for the 5 after issues with Kurt taking over for him.

Has it even been announced who Pastrana has as sponsor this year? The one race with Roush was a non sponsored car (eco boost which is a cover to not have blank car-

Pastrana has Red Bull money, doesn't he? Or are Red Bull not putting their name on a Nascar ever again?

He has their money as athlete which is a lot different. He was sponsored by Boost and Iracing so far.

The 51 is a joke and any "good" driver wouldn't stay in that equipment for too long without it seriously effecting their driving abilities. (*cough*Kurt Busch*cough*) And who says Regan is supposed to be "the next big thing"? He's a veteran driver at this point, who has talent (as he showed last weekend) and will do great in that 5 car next year.

I don't care if it's the worst Cup car ever made, if you are committed to drive the car on Monday you shouldn't be bolting for the door on Tuesday.

The general tone from various places(comments on SPEED and NASCAR as well as here) make it seem like he is some diamond that was stuck in a pile of crap.

I also said he had some talent, I would say Darlington last year showed it more than Satruday though.

IIRC, Hendrick went to Finch and asked if he could have Smith before he even found out.

Don't quote me on that, though.

I'm sure he did, but like I said earlier, what else could Finch say other than "sure, take him". You don't bite the hand that feeds and I get the feeling Finch knows that.

Hmm that is a mean ass racecar! It's pretty funny that the Ford is the most boring looking of the current cars, but will be the most...interesting looking of the new cars.

Just an assumption based on the graphic that was posted earlier. Guess I was wrong.

That was only showing the areas that have changed, the hood, trunk lid and TV panel are remaining as they currently are.👍

I swear Autoblog may have posted it too but when I went to find the article it didn't say anything about the hood. I wonder if they removed it.

So, can someone explain to me why Danica Patrick has a full-time seat in NASCAR? I mean, she has ONE WIN. Ever. In a totally different category of racing.

Is it just a marketing exercise, or does she actually do well? As far as I can tell, she's basically like Jenson Button when he was at Honda.

She supplies additional funding for Tony and Ryan.

I think she will be lucky to finish in the top 25 in the standings next year. I also think once GoDaddy leaves she will be out of a ride.

If you ask me the 2013 Fusion looks at it's best when it's all black with a black grill. Absolutely gorgeous!
