Considering the S3 is 4WD and the A class has a 4WD version are they going to be front or rear drive?

It's a fair point. Why run an S3 FWD? If they went for the S3 over the A3, it surely means they wanted quattro to give them the option of RWD. If they wanted FWD, an A3 would have done?


Who's going to Brands then?
 
Brands is too far away for me, I'll be going to Donington, Oulton, Silverstone and Rockingham.

Both. Can't stand Tordoff either, he seems to have picked up Plato's whiney arrogance. The team just screams "turn up with a smug face and complain".
 
Haven't made up my mind yet. I'll probably go, but I'm not sure yet. I need to have a look at the British GT and Blanpain Calenders, see what else might be coming up.
 
Definitely going to Oulton Park, I'm considering going to a second round for the first time ever as this season is shaping up to be a special one.

4WD is not permitted in the BTCC, and as both the S3 and A Class come in FF, they must use the FF layout. The reason Austin's A4 was allowed to be RWD was because the drivetrain or gearbox only fits that way (IIRC?) and they were given special dispensation.
All cars must match their UK roadcar equivelant, the only car that doesn't is the A4.
 
I think some of you have missed Clark's point slightly.

As I understand it he wasn't saying it would be 4WD and given how I know he follows the championship quite closely don't believe he would think 4WD would be allowed.

I think the point was that given that both of these cars come in different configurations (FF and 4WD). Would either team try to use the same argument as the A4's to gain the RWD startline traction advantage by claiming that the base model they were using was the 4WD version.

The S3 is only with quattro 4WD, so again, why use the S3 if they didn't plan to use it for RWD... unless..

Why do they bother calling it an S3 instead of an A3 anyway? Marketing guff i imagine :rolleyes:

Yup, Marketing.

I'm pretty sure no other component/aspect of the what makes an S3 an S3, and not an A3, would go in the bin during the conversion to an NGTC spec racecar.
 
Surely if it was marketing Rob Austin would be using S4's instead of A4's? Unless I'm missing something here...
One team couldn't care less and gets on with pleasing the fans, whilst the other is obsessed with creating the right brand image for Audi. That's how i'm seeing this.

I love that MG livery. Depper's civic isn't too bad, but Clarke's Focus and Newsham's Focus make me want to wash my eyes out.
 
It looks like a 5 year old found flood fill on MS paint.
Also false advertising! We run the race cars on tesco 99 as well as my mate's 2x range rovers, s class, xf and bentley flying spur and he's never saved 20p a litre.


Although his wife hasn't paid for any shopping for over a year :lol:
 
MG's new livery for this year is their least impressive to me. The first one they had with the more predominant blue and black livery was the best.
