I was a little depressed a week ago because when I was a kid, my dream was being a stock car driver. Because both where I live and pure dollars and cents (Reason why I was so slow in the GTP NASCAR series was because I didn't have the funds to buy a wheel), I never even had a shot at getting my foot in the door. As I grew older and saw these drivers getting younger and younger I started to accept it more and more. Which ended up being fine by me, I'd rather work at a museum (The Hall of Fame) now than a would like being a driver- good money but too much political BS in it.

But the Chase win kinda set me back a little bit. Here's a guy who is not only a year younger than I, but a kid I basically saw grow up in the garage for many years while I was as well. I didn't lose much sleep on it but it was pretty depressing because it meant the absolute end of any hope of me being a driver.

Had a pint of Ben and Jerry's and felt fine afterwards. And one of my bucket list goals is to run a car in the 24 hours of Lemons, which can still happen. Now this week with Chase winning again, I feel nothing but joy and excitement. To win a race with the last name of Elliott makes it pretty special, but at Darlington? Bill's old stomping grounds? Awesome!

This is why I don't have a problem with Cup drivers in Nationwide series races. When a guy like Kyle Larson (I know he's a Cup rookie this season, but he is only 21) or Chase Elliott go out and win a race, it's good for them. But, when they beat Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, and Matt Kenseth to do it, it's damn impressive. That makes a much bigger name for them than beating just Bayne, Ty Dillon, Sadler, and Regan Smith.

So if/when Chase Elliott replaces Gordon, he'll be my new favorite.
I'd much rather see Larson go over to HMS

Hey guys, they both can coexist. It will be like this. Chase takes over Gordon's old ride (although he might get #25 if Rick still has it) and Larson takes over Kahne's ride. It makes the most logical sense. I predict this might happen in the next 4-5 years

So you heard it here first, folks Kahne's days at Hendrick will be numbered and its only a matter of time till Kyle Larson is driving #5 instead of #42

No chance.

Best move for Edwards at the moment would be a 3rd Penske car. 👍
Ha! true... But then again if he left Roush, the whole team would just become a slightly better off Front Row motorsports... once Biffle retires. Though, with that said, I welcome the thought of Edwards running for Penske (as driver #12 just for added irony) especially if the car runs that awesome Snap-On Tools livery that Logano ran in the Nationwide race.

I'd like to see Dale Jr back with Budweiser or back with the 8. Or both. But, since thats a long shot, I see a Quaker State sponsor coming into play for a #14 car for some reason.

Did you forget about Mobil 1? One team isn't going to be allowed to house two oil companies under one umbrella

Actually, yes I did. :ouch: Sorry. :(

I can see it working out if Mobil 1/SHR doesn't renew their sponsorship contract though. But even then, I think Quaker State might be with Kasey Kahne. They were last year, but I'm not sure about this one.

Sorry, but no. Quaker State is a Hendrick sponsor. They've been a Hendrick sponsor for years.

I'm not sure if there's ownership on the #8 still. Teresa Earnhardt had the rights to it, but she has no connection to the sport now, so the number could be in limbo or just unused and forgotten, but I don't see Jr switching his number again, if he even cares about it.

Yeah but has it been a primary one because I haven't seen it on any of the cars and I'm usually following them more than the other cars.

Valvoline is more less a associate sponsor, not big logos on the cars. (On C-pillar and below the rear light stickers)

I have a poster in my room of Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte and Ricky Craven with "Team Quaker State" on it.

1. It would be great to see JR reunited with #8 and Bud but A. even if they could get the number, Jr is so invested in #88 that it wouldn't matter. B. Bud is staying with Harvick for the foreseeable future. Frankly, I like that.
2. Quaker state left Hendrick for RCR (Paul Menard, anyway) and I can't see them transferring.
3. What if Valvoline became Larson's sponsor if he ever went to Hendrick. The liveries will be gorgeous!!💡

Chase does have a good teacher, the fastest man in NASCAR history, Bill Elliott. ;)

And no doubt some of that 'awesome' DNA, too.

This race is going to be interesting for sure - a track that will draw even vets in, chew them up and spit them out; what it will do the rookies under pressure. . .

Is it just me or do the tracks play Planetary (Go!) by My Chemical Romance at every race? I heard it at Dover last year, heard it in the background of the TV broadcast during the second Kansas race last year, and now I heard it again.

I heard it once - thought it was just a coincidence.

So . . . Hmmmm.

First caution, and Gordon in the lead.

Lost it at the restart. He's got to get over this restart problem he has.

More cautions . . . track starting to chew them up now. Full-blown night-racing should start soon. Full moon lunacy will follow. :D

There's been multiple streams every week on Justin.tv.

If this is against a up remove it. Would just message you but I'm on my phone.

Does anyone have a stream they can message me?

Sorry, no help here, LMS. I'm getting this via Fox.
Now that the lights are up cars are looking really good. Rookies are paint-slapping the wall. Gordon looking good, Harvick on a roll, and Johnson stalking them unobstrusively.

Now Menard pounds the wall for the fifth caution.

Edit: AJ involved in some hard rubbing. More than a fender-bender. Some feathers are probably going to be be ruffled.
Caution again.
