So close to my target of 1:03.1xx, but given the effort I've put in, I'm just pleased to have improved. My new time is good for 63rd worldwide, 13th in UK. I lost most time going wide in Graham Hill Bend; I'm losing 0.083 there compared to Tidgney. It is amazing how costly such a small mistake can be on this combo.

Progress so far...

Game arrived yesterday in the mail while I was at work. Install took a while due to a bunch of patches needing downloading. Disabled most of the aids straight out of the box (kept ideal line on for a while just to 'fast learn' some tracks quickly). Pushed AI aggresiveness to 10 after the first 2 races, but that didn't make much difference. Then finished the novice cup in about an hour with a win in every race without a replay. Did have to replay the licence tests though a few times. But I found that these are actually a great way to learn the correct techniques for gt6 (after I figured out how to brake properly in gt6, more on that in a bit).

Anyway, I then d/led the gt academy, did about 15-20 laps with the leaf at brands, and put together a scrappy 1m04s2xx lap :) I already knew the brands indy track from iracing, so it was more getting use to the physics of the car than learning the track.

Was running abs 0, but then tried 1 (as almost every time in the online standins uses this setting) just to see if it felt different, but it didn't (at the time).

Then did most of the 2nd cup, which was about another 2 hours before I worked out that you can use 100% brake pedal without the brakes locking, all the way til turn in point, lol.

Finally got a trace to work in the telemetry reader, and from what I can tell, it seems impossible to lock up the brakes in straight line braking? :/

I'm so use to iracing needing 80%ish brake pressure to really hit the threshold braking point in its cars. But i'm using g25 pedals for this, and fanatec csp's for iracing. Both are seemingly ideal for their application :)

I have a quick q if someone can answer me. Do all the cars allow 100% braking pressure usage without tyres locking up? (say in straight line braking).

Cheers,
metal

Prasinar's lead has shrunk to .001. xx_stigGT_xx ran a 1:03.003. Amazing how no one has reached the 1:02s now.

Had a cheeky half hour tonight... rather chuffed to be in the top 100 with only a couple hours practice. Maybe ill have a chance at nationals again this year :D

Well had a rather long go tonight while waiting for my video to upload! I did get into the .6xxs finally (Even more weirdly it was in a row!) with a .688 being the fastest, but kept messing up graham hill annoyingly! I did have one epic run where a decent clearways would have meant a 1:02, but alas that didn't happen! I've uploaded my fastest time so far though, with the time of 1:03.030! Not sure I'll be doing any more and If I don't I'm willing a non handbraker to a 1:02.9 first :)!

Camera time splits and also my splits in the lap are in description (And video for the first camera)

Well done tidgney! and everyone! 👍:)

Ive been struggling with t1, not sure what im doing wrong exactly at the moment :boggled:

my t1 in this lap is ,743

Problems at T1 here too, I can't make it at decent speed. When I do make it through I'm too slow and can't catch up. I'll try again sometime before next week's round comes up.

thanks Tidgney, great stuff as always. Helped me break into 3.6s
I must say tho, i disagree, the first corner is the hardest:D First time i broke into high 3s i was like .9 behind prasinar, .7 of them in sector 1:D

And with no handbrake as well. 👍

Absolutely stunning, can't wait to view it! I must admit his exit out of graham hill before the 1:02 (That I saw last night) was astonishing, never seen it done so well so look forward to watching later and no handbrake shows an absolutely top class performance! 👍

What an amazing lap @Tidgney, sooooooooo smooth

Tidgney, your video is really helpful and trying to improve my time using DS3 only.

Well done tidgney! and everyone! 👍:)

Cheers guys! At druids I've actually found if you take a wide line in your exit is far better. You can take a tight line and get a .7xx but a wide line gives the same result and more consistency, you can then experiment with tightening it slightly (Still staying wider than most) and adjusting the braking slightly which is what I did last night and hit the .6xxs! Or even more consistent .7xxs! But I wouldn't worry about paddock hill unless your aiming for rank 1, you can do a terrible one even hit the gravel and still get a 1:03.1!

After a break of a couple of days I improved a few cents...

I'm actually interested too see these too. Round 2 is most likely going to be on a 370Z. I'd hazard to say that Round 3 will be on a road going GT-R. Round 4 is anyone's guess... could be anything from the race spec 370; the GT3 GT-R or if an update is to come the ZEOD RC.

I can attest that the car turns, and is a hair faster with no abs vs abs, you can smell it. there is something definitely linked in the algorithmic programming, that makes the car more responsibe with feathered throttle (never any brakes prior) with vs without ABS. Perhaps it is the 5~10kg module , or other hidden setting. I sensed this since GT5p Alfa 8C event.

updated 1.03.800 , and finally I had to relearn T1, I was understeering everytime, until I found out that the car should decel in a straight line as possible, and flick the throttle off, don't release gradually. and am introducing weight shift to let the G handle the car without any brakes. I got really really excited as I went up to Druids at 129km/hr, a first, only to lose it in the sand.

A public thanks to @Tidgney for his video guidance. I have to agree with him on Paddock Hill. Once I stopped trying to get a perfect turn 1, and just be consistent I was able to focus more on Druids and really cut some time from sector 1. For me, it helped to get a little wider into Druids and get a later apex to feel "like it's a straighter and faster downhill". Still a lot more time to cut off, especially in Graham Hill Bend - that's my next focus spot.

And sorry to @hognhominy for your loss.

First 1.02'9 lap as uploaded by the man himself. Probably learnt a thing or two from your detailed guide @Tidgney xD

Haha I'd like to think so but honestly Dan is a very skilled driver he's always proven he has it by being at the top! Full credit to him for pulling off a 1:02.9! Certainly took clearways to the fineline at the last part! My heart would have been in my mouth a little ;)!
