I agree, seeing some of the top replays 1:02.8 should be the target. you top dogs know the "key" zones to nail...so, if the hammer is dead on it will sink!

Go get it!

No disrespect for any who are not eligible (still disappointed @Doodle is a year shy...I thought this was his year) but, it would be nice to see a Leaderboard option showing those who are eligible...but again, we know how they like to see big numbers (registered) for hyp.

...

Just a side note for those aspiring to go pro through GT Academy or other venues...I would like to echo a mention of advice in another thread: do yourself a REAL career favor and get some Karting experience under your belt (if you haven't already). There are tons of Karting clubs and or Kart Race Shops around who offer arrive and drive programs. Options are always available for practice sessions and also full national race programs in 100cc and 125cc TaG classes. @Doodle if I had a Kart or car at this moment I would strap you in it. There are owners out there looking for level headed drivers who are consistent and will not tear things up. Even next year when you go to the finals in GT Acadamy, don't look at it like it's your only chance, cause it's not. You and others here have what it takes on the screen, but you do need to get your sights beyond that. Just don't forget :gtplanet: when you do!

If anyone's in the Southern California area and wants to get some karting experience before gt academy hit me up I have a few 100cc and a few 125cc powered karts that do 80mph and will get you some cheap seat time.

Improved by 0.048 on best lap but lost 0.068 in last turn and was 0.1 down at t1 so lots of time for me to find

1.05.060 Gejabo

Did this on the first day
Was 3000 at the end of the day.
Didn't go back till yesterday I'm in the 25000s now :D

So had another go tonight, also had a look at the latest lap of .002 from rank 1 and I notice he doesn't use the handbrake this time? So that's pretty good! But he does get an absolutely insane druids still in the .6xxs with it to! Closest I've got was a .702 sector 1 but that wasn't a fully nailed druids!

That sort of led to frustration as I got a .125 then a .126 lol. But hey a .002 gain is still a gain right :)??

You can still use the handbrake with out it showing up it depends on how long you hold it for .

O really? I didn't know that! I'd be very interested to know with that sector 1 as his paddock isn't the best, druids is spot on (Or so I thought as I couldn't see anything in the replay) and it's a .640 where as for myself I work out a .67x is the best I can see at the moment, but that would be an absolutely perfect paddock and druids!

If you tap and release quickly on the handbrake the warning light will not show up so it's possible to tap it repeatedly to get the rotation desired but not show up that you've used it .

Without ABS the car turns better but it's easier to skid and lose momentum, I would say we can achieve the same times with or without ABS in this combo because no ABS isn't really a challenge in this case.

I would like to see a 1'02.8xx but I don't think it's possible.
I thought so too. Even did a few runs with ABS 10, and my times are roughly the same no matter if ABS is 0, 1 or 10.

That's true, but if you look carefully he does use the handbrake, but not where you would expect. Myself and others use it where you normally would, closer to the corner. But if you pay attention by pausing the replay, you can see that he used the handbrake at the same moment that he begins to brake, just near the shadow and not near the apex. I tried it but it doesn't work for me that early before the corner, but interesting none the less.

No-one probably noticed because they are looking for it later near the corner, but it's definitely there.

I just find it interesting watching the top guys different brake and throttle input methods to achieve the similar results.

had a browse through the online game LB and noticed that several spots are being taken up by the same name's. Example there is a couple there have 2 spots same time same time of the day etc etc so must be a bug,so maybe some of you are higher than you think...just thought it was funny to look at.

@hognhominy Well done on setting up this thread and great effort keeping times updated as well, much appreciated!

I'm wondering if everyone is doing some standard racing online as practice. I think being reasonably fast, consistently is just as important as pure time-trialling if you're considering reaching national finals.

That was my prep last year(though not intentional), and I think it helped me just because I wasn't bogged down with one car/track combo. Basically I'd just keep a good mixture of these TT's and basic online racing until the final round kicks in.

Would be cool to set up spec gt academy races like last year!

GTP: VrapPlus PSN: VrapPlus. Time 1:03.711, still need to find some tenths, i'll be satisfied with a .5xx for this round.

Edit: 1:03.572.

Q. How can I enter?
To enter the online GT Academy competition you must have a PSN ID. If you do not already have one, it is free to set up and can be easily created from the PlayStation.com website. Just click the PSN ‘Sign In & Connect’ tab.
Once you have your PSN ID and access to a PS3™ system with internet access and a copy of the Gran Turismo®6 game, starting at 12:01am PST on Monday, April 21, 2014, you can download and install the GT Academy 2014 online qualification module (“OQM”)
NOTE: There are 4 rounds within the OQM, and you must complete the first 2 rounds of the OQM by 12:01 AM PST on May 19, 2014 to proceed with official registration and to enter the contest. If you do not complete the first 2 rounds by then, you will not be able to register or enter the contest.

Q. What are the timings for the other stages of GT Academy 2014?
・The online gaming phase will take place from April 21 to June 16.
On May 19, registration for the online qualifying portion of the contest begins.

Is it just me or does it smell like there may be two rounds that count towards qualification, sorry already been discussed just got me thinking something seems different ....

This track/car/tyres -combination is so awful; it's very difficult to achieve a really good lap. (It almost made me cut my wrists :banghead:).

Grrr been pretty annoying in the hour I've just had! Graham hill is killing me lol! I did improve to a .123, then .112 (Then got a .113 straight after lol!) then got a .052! Annoyingly I didn't take clearways at my best on that .052! I can definitely see a .9 it's just going to be annoying trying to get it! I'm actually really enjoying this which is why I keep having a go :)!

Hoping to get back on this soon, haven't had any time since Wed, even though I had a day off yesterday, but I went up to Rockingham to drive a Nissan GTR instead, which surprisingly was the easiest car I've driven  Was nice to have power steering and semi automatic flappy paddle gearbox :)

Managed a better lap; T1 and T2 were okay, but a brilliant T3 scored me a 1:03.252 for 94th place, 18th in UK. I must say, I can't believe how competitive it is among the UK players :scared:

EDIT: Managed to shave off a whole 0.006 to gain 5 places; still 18th in UK. Slightly disappointed though because I was up about 0.03-0.04 at the second split.

Well down to a .030! The only place I lose anytime is the first sector due to the handbraking, but it's a nice feeling coming back from over a tenth down :D, it wasn't even my fastest graham hill bend! Clearways was spot on though :)! If you absolutely nail sector 1 a .6xx is just possible (Only high) without the handbrake. Yes I do hate the handbraking I think it's completely silly, I'll be stopping though once someone hits 1:02.9xx.

Grahams hill is the most annoying coner in the history of corners!
If you oversteer, you loose all your speed, if you understeer, you go off track.
Plus in the nissan leaf it takes over 1 minute to get there!
Hope round 2 will be a nicer combo
