Twissy never went to race camp and has been ineligible because of too much experience with karting at a national level. He said that in the 2012 thread if I recall.

Correct me if I'm wrong @Twissy and please stay behind me

Yeah, that's why I said think it's in his signature, because I wasn't sure what he meant by 1st. Still, he would have been there, so I'm counting it. ;)

Is this actually an issue? While I would defer to your 4th place opinion, it would seem that the only location this would come into play is going into Druids. As braking effort needed to lock even CHs is not needed anywhere else on course.

I honestly think that using ABS 0 could be an advantage, or at least easier, in getting the car to rotate by getting on the brakes a bit harder. In my opinion, using ABS 0 to help negotiate the turns is a lot more realistic than say, using the handbrake. :sly: I know I have come close to beating my best time by using ABS 0. And yes, you may defer to my below average 5000th place position. ;)

I started karting at age 9, started racing cars age 19, already hold a MSA national 'A' therefore ineligible :( just play Gran Turismo for fun and appear to be half decent at it

So if u wer to make the top 28 u wouldnt be able to go any further? And do we know if its brands hatch for all the gt academy sessions? Guessing if it is the rest will be the full circuit?

hi guys. here is my first good (bad) laptime ,,,

1:03.570 DR HASH / DR_HASH

Sixaxis pad (without rumble) and i'm driving without any helping stuff.

Then what was I driving 5/10 with...

Welp, never mind, just living up to my name.

Edit: OH! The WRS TT. That was a brain fart.

1:03,798 Mike-ZENKAI Mike-ZENKAI

With DS3 and only ABS1 (no handbrake :grumpy:)

Still loosing to much in last sector. Up 0.2 on my best time only to screw it up in Clearways.

Sixaxis is what I'm using too :D

I think pad users are at a major disadvantage on this TT unless you're using the L2 R2 triggers so you can attempt to 'left foot' brake to get the rotation.

I've been up on my lap (1.03.678), sometimes by 2 or 3 tenths but I always manage to stuff it up :banghead:

Won't get my 200 deg wheel (circa 2004 ) out until the final round.

Plus I hope that they're not using Brands for all the rounds.

You are right cargo I've matched my best time 3 times using no abs and it makes the car easier to rotate for the hair pin with out the dark art of using the handbrake so much so I've been 0.150 up at t1 on my best lap only to mess it up in the last turn

I never said it was an issue...
Issue was the wrong word, I meant, is this a hindrance or an advantage and how/where can it be exploited?

As @GTP_CargoRatt & @skyline1683 stated, Does using ABS0 help get the car rotated under braking, especially into the Druids hairpin? Is it faster elsewhere on the course?

It helps a lot at Druids hairpin as the rear rotates almost as quick as using the handbrake but on a more predicable level.

It also helps a lot getting the nose of the car turned in at last turn.

Just improved 2 tenths to 1:03.861 JohnScoonsBeard JohnSchoonsBeard

Improved by half a tenth to 1:03.284, changed TC to 1. Enjoying the fierce competition, only +0.282 and still 14 Aussies ahead of me.

Anyone notice the dodgy subscripts on the numbers, PD should fix that. Drives me crazy seeing positions like 21th :dunce:

After a quick go just now I think a 1:02.8 is possible! Would have to be a perfect lap though :)!

I agree, seeing some of the top replays 1:02.8 should be the target. you top dogs know the "key" zones to nail...so, if the hammer is dead on it will sink!

Go get it!

No disrespect for any who are not eligible (still disappointed @Doodle is a year shy...I thought this was his year) but, it would be nice to see a Leaderboard option showing those who are eligible...but again, we know how they like to see big numbers (registered) for hyp.

...

Just a side note for those aspiring to go pro through GT Academy or other venues...I would like to echo a mention of advice in another thread: do yourself a REAL career favor and get some Karting experience under your belt (if you haven't already). There are tons of Karting clubs and or Kart Race Shops around who offer arrive and drive programs. Options are always available for practice sessions and also full national race programs in 100cc and 125cc TaG classes. @Doodle if I had a Kart or car at this moment I would strap you in it. There are owners out there looking for level headed drivers who are consistent and will not tear things up. Even next year when you go to the finals in GT Acadamy, don't look at it like it's your only chance, cause it's not. You and others here have what it takes on the screen, but you do need to get your sights beyond that. Just don't forget :gtplanet: when you do!

Without ABS the car turns better but it's easier to skid and lose momentum, I would say we can achieve the same times with or without ABS in this combo because no ABS isn't really a challenge in this case.

I would like to see a 1'02.8xx but I don't think it's possible.
