Wow, they are nearly into the high 1:02's now only +0.002

1:03.399 1:03.351 sidplayos2 GTP_Sidplayos2

Amazingly, in one of my attempts I matched that time exactly again. No idea what the probability of that is.
Currently 19th Aussie so gotta be happy with that so far.

Right, I've finished this post. Are you guys into the 1:02.9's yet :P

The last turn is a bit tricky but fun using DS3. It's about time that GT has the gold trophy hard to weed out all of the idiots in my PSN friends list! :D

Please remove old time of 1:03.698 Wiz TunaWiz

New time 1:03.429 Wiz TunaWiz

So I gave the time trail another go
New time 1:03.313 I think that's good
Enough for 4-5th in the US

Saw your time brotha, nice job! You can do a 1.03.1xx, keep at it. 👍

I was .100 behind tidgneys ghost on the sector before graham hill at one point. Gotta nail druids to get that again lol

Was able to shave off almost a 10th. Really a good set for momentum training, with very little power to work with, EVERYTHING counts to keep momentum. Really enjoying the cruise.

Great to see all the great lap times posted here. GTP has some of the best in the world no doubt, glad to be a small part of it. 👍

Can someone explain the set-up for Gt-academy? Are the first round important too achieve a place in the national finals? and why are they several rounds? I don't really understand how you get a place in the national finals if they are several rounds? Do you need to be the best in your country in every round? Very pleased for answers!

Only the result of Round 4 matters for qualification. The previous rounds are just warm-ups and they give you lots of GT6 credits.

It may be the case that in the event of a tie in round 4, earlier rounds could be used as a tie-break - but it's not likely to even come up and I'm only guessing anyway.

Thanks for the answer! Ok so i don't really need to participate in the earlier rounds, but i guess it's a bit harder to achieve a better time in the final round? It used to be a 370Z in earlier days if I remember correctly?

Hopefully I'll get back to this over the weekend. I think for future rounds I'm gonna record a top time (@Doodle !) so I can watch it on my lunch break at work.

I believe the tie breaker is the date when the lap was done. Which player finished the lap first wins the tie breaker.

Dan Holland is in 2nd place with no ABS.
Is this actually an issue? While I would defer to your 4th place opinion, it would seem that the only location this would come into play is going into Druids. As braking effort needed to lock even CHs is not needed anywhere else on course.

A small improvement for me last night. Dropped from 1:04.154 to 1:04.117. I was .377 quicker at the final sector time check, but went a bit wide in the final turn and caught some sand. *DOH*

I'd be surprised if it's less than 10. Also, I'm sure GumballCGT has been posting in here: he won the 2013 US event.

Edit: three on the board that I know did, can't be bothered to look through at who's been posting without a time mentioned.

24 hours of Dubai race, and a race seat. He just raced at Monza. The other two I recognised as finalists were Tidgney (European) and Twissy (national or European, I'm not sure which. It's in his signature I think). There are some great drivers around here, and there's at least one other GT Academy champion lurking somewhere.

Edit: he said he wanted to see how he does now, with the limited amount of free time he has.

Twissy never went to race camp and has been ineligible because of too much experience with karting at a national level. He said that in the 2012 thread if I recall.

Correct me if I'm wrong @Twissy and please stay behind me

Everyone makes it to the next round. I think the only requirement is for you to make the finals is to have "completed" each round by a certain date. I don't remember exactly. It's in the FAQ.

New time! Turn#1 and #2 now very close to Tidgney's ghost, but after Turn#3 he just disappears :boggled:
