AJ, may a driver be on more than one team's roster? (Not in the same class obviously). With the new classes and races starting up, there has been interest in forming some new teams and i was curious regarding drivers. Don't see anything in the regulations regarding driver restrictions.

Very interesting race schedule od round 1 and round2 for LM GTE/ LMP1

The Silverstone race will finish at 17:00 UTC at Saturday, The Suzuka race will start at 2:00 UTC (at night) at Sunday.
It's a real hardcore for teams. If Suzuka must start at 2am?? Why not later, I think it can be big problem for people.

If it was a single 24 hour race, then you would be racing at 2am anyway. For some it works, for others it doesn't. For example, the Bathurst 12 hour is going to run 8am - 8pm for myself in NZ which is nice. Where last year when I did the London 12hour, it ran from 7pm until 7am the entire way through the night. Not the most appropriate time, but its the same for everyone.

Same here for Daytona in Australia, was like 2am-2am my time. It's never going to suit everyone having so many nations competing unfortunately, even if things were changed it'd then affect another driver.

2am is no problem, but we have two different tracks and only 10hour difference in time, after finish first to beginning next..

I recommend teams field one set of drivers for Silverstone, and another set for Suzuka.

With exception of the #4 & #11, all the eligible teams have large Driver Rosters, and this would maximise the number of drivers taking part over the weekend.

How come there is not a drivers championship standings posted on the notice board? All I see is a team championship posted.

"5.2.a The name of the Driver who will take the start must be declared no later than 24 hours after the completion of Qualifying Practice 4."
Probably should re-word this article to account for the variable number of QP sessions, and any other regulation that refers to action after Qualifying Practice 4, as:
"- Variable number of QP sessions at each Event, dependant on the number of Event Entries verse the number of grid space" implies the number of QP sessions can be greater or smaller than 4.

And why field 2 sets of drivers for Silverstone and Suzuka? They'll have just finished Silverstone so be practised and all warmed up for Suzuka! Should be great fun to smash those out over 2 days.

Tom
Well, ÂŁ300 or so all in wasn't too bad I thought. Especially considering the price of the Sennheiser HMD-26 II.
And here I sit commentating on a 10 euro headset :(
Still 3 times as good as my 3,5 euro one :P
Guys, please. Cell phone mic with ear buds.

I have a laptop and headphones now, but that's how I used to do it.

Genesis of the NERDaleks

A some of you may know, I have been organising sim-racing events and championships for over 7 years now, and have been lucky enough to work on a range of projects throughout the industry, with developers, publishers, hardware manufacturers, and national motorsport bodies.

I have always held the belief that fun follows realism, and to achieve that, sim-racing has to extend beyond the track and beyond the game. Promoting the notion of sim-motorsport, I have aimed to enhance the experience by adding a tangible persistence to the events I have organised. Presentation & record keeping in the sim-racing world is largely abysmal, and more often than not the only ones who will ever know the result of a race are those who took part in it, and only until it leaves their memory.

In the past I have used a range of tools, from spreadsheets and photoshop, to word processors and HTML. And a range of publication methods including, websites, forums, JPEGs, and PDFs. This worked, but but on a relatively small scale and required a lot of work jumping from championship to championship. What I had not done is take a step back, take a holistic approach and create something that could be used universally.

A couple of years ago I took a break from sim-motorsport organisation, but by the second half of 2013 I was looking around for my next project. I had been a lurker on the GTPlanet forums for many years, and, having a lot of respect for the site and it's community, contacted Jordan. My pitch was to create something with the aim of engaging all corners of the community and energising sim-racing on GTPlanet.

Enduracing racing is my passion both in sim-racing, and in non-sim-racing (we need to come up with a better term than "real racing", it makes me cringe) so that was an obvious choice, multiple drivers in each car raises the numbers that can be involved immediately. Over the years I have run over half a dozen full length online endurance sim-races. I had always set them up as timed races, and after each race every team changed driver at the same time. So, for a 24 hour race there would be 7x3hour races, with a final 2 hour-ish race at the end, taking into account the lost time seeing up the new races. However it looked like GT6's open 'drop-in drop-out' lobby system might enable something a bit more interesting...

Now, sim-racing and championship organisation is no easy thing at the best of times, but it was quite quickly clear that this new project would require a new level of organisation, and that holistic approach I mentioned earlier, not only this but also a new level of participation by the participants, cue the infamous 'Stint Photos'.

It took 12 months, 10 test races (2x24h, 2x12h, 3x6h, 3x4h), 104 hours of racing, 106 drivers, 191 entries, 33 days of combined track time, and an unpublishable number of development hours, to get to a reasonably finished product, NERDS 1.0. Which nicely brings me on to the purpose of this post;

I am pleased to announce that NERDS 1.1 will be rolling out over the weekend, in time for the 2015 GTPlanet Bathurst 12 Hour. This is a special Event for the Series, as it marks our first repeat Race.

It is amazing to look back and see how far things have progressed in just 14 months, and I can't wait to see where we will be in another 14. Those who have been supporting these events for a while now will know that, if something is broke it gets fixed, and if it isn't broke, then we will always look at ways to improve it.

Once again, thank you, to everyone involved with last year's Events, and now the GTPlanet Endurance Series.

Looking forward to your continued participation.
