Then if Howard got a puncture on GPRM parts, it can't be down to the RML components alone on the other cars.

Err no. Because it's not like punctures have never happened to cars on GPRM parts

That moment when you're in your local town centre getting breakfast and your day off and Andrew Jordan is there doing the same thing.

Didn't get a pic was too shy.

Time to wake the thread up

Don't suppose anyone can help me please. Basically the question is about the Rover Vitesse. In 1983 Soper was excluded from the overall standings racing for TWR. From what I gather TWR then left the series mid way through 1984 due to the '83 exclusion, and Rouse won it as an independent (I believe) in his Vitesse.

The reason for the 1983 Rover exclusions are basically on a 'technicality'. Our club membership magazine mentions that Rover were disqualified due to their interpretation of the rules/regulations. The only information I can find about this is the term 'engine installation'.

Does anyone know what exactly the problem was and why the Rover's were disqualified?
Many thanks

Jimi

Were those the 3.5 litre V8 SD1's that came in 3.8, 4.0, 4.2, 4.5 and 4.6 litres?

They only ran the 3.5 in the btcc as far as I'm aware though. Or was that the issue? It was around that time the class regulations were changing so did tom wilkinshaw racing use the 4+ litre engines?

Two things. The engine ran solid valve lifters instead of the production car's hydraulic ones. The body shell also sported altered suspension pick up points. Both against the regs of the day.

Wasn't that claimed to be based on the South African export version?

Something like. An African export model with beefed up suspension mounts for the rough roads. Or so they led everyone to believe.

The battle that rages between between who I am, and who I want to be is as firey as it is turbulent... The clash of passions is enough to rock my soul to the core... how does a man resolve what he loves, against who he loves??... How do I overcome this Titanic struggle between head and heart..... This is a battle between good and evil and I don't know which side I'm on......

In short, if the missus says it's okay I'll be there :D :D :D :D :D

You could have just said "I want to see BMW's crash into each other win" :sly: ;)

Given what Priaulx failed to achieve last year, and the effort I expended to watch it up close, I'm not going to get too hyped up about BMW in the BTCC until there's a seismic shift in either the BTCC Regs, or Jens Marquardt's little red booklet of company policies. I want to enjoy it for what it is, without my rampant BMW-enthusiasm....

... of course, if that includes seeing Plato struggle at the helm of a RWD car, I will be laughing all the way to Hades front door!
