Porsche's GT division is on the roll. Look at their latest creation:

And much like its predecessor, it has a tent.

And purists will rejoice once again when they see a stick shift with 6 forward gears and a reverse engraved on it. But as standard procedure for weight reduction, straps are used to close the door.

The engine is similar to the one in the Cayman GT4 - a 3.8 liter naturally-aspirated flat-six producing 375 horsepower. 0-100 KM/H time is 4.5 seconds claimed by Porsche.

Stuffing a 911 engine in a Boxster? RUF is doing that in ages. This? Or a RUF 3800S?

I think I actually like this more than the GT4. Love the lowered windshield.

edit: I thought the Spyders had lowered windshields, maybe I'm mistaken.

Think the original Boxster Spyder looked a lot better.

I thought they did too...

And I'm right there with you about liking this more than the GT4. Didn't think that'd be possible, but it just seems so right. The Spyder is one of only a few cars I absolutely think looks better without a roof. Of course, up here, it'd only be useful for a handful of months of the year. :(

The only Porsche with lowered screens were the Speedsters.

This or a GT4 is a little more difficult though.

If you are going on a practical, and ease of use type of thing, then the Cayman GT4 is the obvious choice. But I have to admit, the entire 981 range is the only Boxster model I like. Looks like a mini Carrera GT, which is good.

I'm still not welcome on the manual soft top operation. Though based on the video, it could be as easy as the 997 Speedster.

Of course, practicality says GT4, but... I dunno. I'd probably say screw practicality and for that 1 day in the British summer where it's actually sunny it'd make a brilliant drive.

Then again, for the rest of the year I'd be too scared to drive it. I'd probably choose the GT4 simply because I'd actually use that a lot.
