He is more of a poster child for Team GB than anything else, more comfortable talking about stuff and doing interviews than diving it seems. I guess all of the hype started because he was so young in Beijing and the media has been fixated on him ever since.

I don't know what happened to him today, guess the pressure got to him.

Brazil just beat Germany on penalties 5-4 in the Men's Football Gold medal match, Neymar with the winning penalty (expect anyone else?!), amazing scenes at the Maracanã when the penalty went in!

Ruth Beitia has won the high jump with a height of 1.97 which is 1cm lower than Johnson-Thompson and Thiam cleared in the heptathlon. I don't think you could call this a golden age of high jumping.

TB
I'll see that and raise you one Greg Louganis.

At least that board was flexible and plastic, if you hit your head on the fixed concrete diving board as the commentators said it's likely an instant death because it will snap your neck :scared:

It happened in Canada in 1983 to a Russian athlete but wasn't caught on film thankfully.

They forgot to put chlorine in the handball court too. :irked:

That was a complete garbage call that robbed Australia of a potential Bronze.

FIBA refs should get gold medals for being hot garbage this Olympics. 👎

I'm pretty sure I saw it used yesterday? Was that the womens' race?
I've seen the fellas on it today.

Oh I thought the women's race was earlier today not yesterday, didn't catch it. Switzerland has just won the Men's gold medal... not surprising as their country is one big mountain! ;)

I wonder if there is an approved model list or weight limit for the bikes otherwise some models are going to be way better than others.

Meanwhile in the wrestling, Mongolia lost out on a bronze because their guy got a penalty for taunting in the very last second of the match - and the Mongolian coaches have stripped off in protest!

Fantastic results for the Brits, they beat China in gold and silver metals and only trailed them by 3 for the total.
I bet China will show the table ordered in terms of total medals and not golds

Great result for Team GB - mostly down to National Lottery funding which was cranked up after winning just 1 gold medal in Atlanta, but I reckon that Russia probably would have claimed 2nd spot if not for the amount of their athletes who were banned on account of Russia's state-sponsored doping programme. Beating China in the medals table is a remarkable achievement for the GB, but I'm sure the US must be pretty happy having won more gold medals than Russia and China combined!

Well, what a fantastic two weeks of sport. A shame that the locals enthusiasm (or wallets) couldn't match the action on the field of play. Unbelievable results for Team GB and particularly nice to see so many people who don't get the same coverage as our pampered football players achieve such success. Roll on Tokyo!

Been an incredible two weeks for Team GB and they all deserve all the rewards that maybe coming their way.

Sports Personality Of The Year will be very competitive this year!

I recon knowing the public they will go with Laura Trott.

Not sure about Murray winning again as he has won it twice including last year, I think the public will vote for someone new like Trott or Farah, but Murray definitely deserves to be in the discussion after the year he has had!
