They're from the celebrations after the CTSC race. What made the black donuting skid marks at turn 1?
Whose results were spoiled thanks to Andrew Marriott...when buttering up a manufacturer's talking head. They're from the celebrations after the CTSC race.
Been at work all morning, so just now getting a chance to check in. Cadillac 1-2-3 and only 4 DPI cars within a few laps of each other. Doesn't really sound like a race I want to watch anyway...
I still think this M6 project was a failure not only in North America as in Europe things don't look good at all either.
BMW thought "if Bentley can do it, we can do it too" but the results after one and a half season show that maybe a new development of the super successful Z4 would be the way to go.
Throw the twin turbo V8 in the Z5 and there's a winner. Because this panzer is absolutely ****. I love how the GTLM team is blaming tires. The car sucks, period, there are no redeeming qualities about it. It's slower than hell.
The GTE is very much a GT3 car, but that's not the reason it's slow as hell. GTE has zero tanks, and aerodynamically it's not much of an improvement over the Z4. The GTE car is the one I'm referring too as I mentioned them blaming tires. Turner is a shadow of it's former self. There's a reason their building a non-M6 GTE for 2018: Because they need a car that takes full advantage of the GTE aero regs.Except BMW didn't have a new Z4 and the were basically at the end of the road with the Z4 in terms of homologation. ALso, I find it funny how you're telling one person that Porsche shouldn't give on the new car when its only been two races in yet here you are saying similar things about BMW's M6 (Completely disregarding the car winning the Spa 24 Hours).
Also, did you not watch the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hours This year? They were pretty damn fast, it was just bad luck that caught them out.
Do you watch anything outside of IMSA? If you did, you'd again see the car has been plenty competitive elsewhere (and also realize that the GTE is actually not the exactly the same as the GT3).
Big cars can still be fast...The GTE is very much a GT3 car, but that's not the reason it's slow as hell. GTE has zero tanks, and aerodynamically it's not much of an improvement over the Z4. And stop turning my specific hatred of bad turbos into an entire turbo hatred for 🤬 sake. The BMW's engine is the least of it's problems. It's a fat pig.
GT3 BoP helps that. The Bentley and Nissan's are less blunt. GT3 has a wider variety of sizes and shapes than GTE does. Hence the Lexus in GTD showing its teeth.Big cars can still be fast...
But Ms. Piggy doesn't have nearly the aero to deal with the other GTE's.Ms. Piggy is the lightest GTLM car in the field by 20kg-1220 kg
And stop turning my specific hatred of bad turbos into an entire turbo hatred for 🤬 sake. The BMW's engine is the least of it's problems. It's a fat pig. It doesn't work in a class full of low slung coupes, and its a mountain of a car.

Err, no. The reason they're bringing in a new car for 2018 is because the M6 was never intended to be a GTE car in the first place. BMW had been one of the more prominent supporters of the GT convergence plan, which would have combined GTE and GT3 regs into a single class. When those collapsed BMW had to rush to replace the Z4, and adapting the M6 GT3 was the quickest and easiest solution. Since then the plan has always been to use the M6 as a stopgap between the Z4 and the new 2018 car. There's a reason their building a non-M6 GTE for 2018: Because they need a car that takes full advantage of the GTE aero regs.
They are turning the same lap times as the rest of the GTLM field at the 10hr mark. But Ms. Piggy doesn't have nearly the aero to deal with the other GTE's.
Is that M6 GTLM coming to the WEC in 2018 or sometime? Think I remember hearing something along those lines.
