If they decide he did obstruct then it's a possibility , but he's behind in the championship so probably just a slap on that wrist. ( conspiracy? what conspiracy ? )

Less drive out of the corner I guess ? Or maybe the Mercedes engine peaks higher in its rev range.
Having said that Vettel would probably gain 4/10s if he stopped all the bitching and whining !

44.

Don't worry if a different number comes out. They'll keep re-drawing the lottery until 44 comes out.
You really are pathetic. 'Had' the positions been reversed and Grosjean was penalised you would have been moaning about how unfair it all is. You really need to learn to play the situation and not the man.

Hamilton just provided us with one of the the great qualifying laps, again, yet all you can do is look to pick fault. How crap is it to live in your world, filled with such hate and loathing for another human being? Must be a very sad existence.

The stewards examined video and telemetry evidence and concluded that while GRO may potentially have been affected by the presence of HAM at Turn 16, he was not impeded.
Let's just reverse those positions:

Three place grid penalty!

Yep, that all pans out.

Not at all. It was an obvious block, and one that should have been penalised regardless of who did it.

That doesn't excuse him from disregarding the rules. If you block a driver, you take a penalty. It doesn't matter if you're a championship contender, a popular driver, set an impressive lap time or if it's your home race.

It was not an 'obvious block' because 'he was not impeded'. You really are the laughing stock of this section.

No, Mexico last year was a laughing stock. He made no attempt to make the first corner and wasn't given a penalty for it because he has always been held to a different standard.

It such a sweet thing to know that Hamilton is one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, has won 3 x WDC's, will be the greatest qualifier in the history of the sport soon and realise just how much that must affect you. And you deserve it all for your sad, pathetic, obsession with him. Makes me smile.

According to the FIA, 40% of that sentence is untrue:
FIA:
The stewards examined video and telemetry evidence and concluded that while GRO may potentially have been affected by the presence of HAM at Turn 16, he was not impeded.
Someone make a meme of actual ham please!!

Or different gearing, the ratios are locked in at the beginning of the season.

As for Grosjean: there are some that moan all the time and just continue moaning. If Romain starts asking for penalties for other drivers, look at his track record. He should be happy he's driving in Formula 1.

Ever since that one race ban Grosjean has been getting better and better, but now he's on a team that actually can be good but is just starting and having troubles. It's getting to him.

Don't think Lewis deserves a penalty, but the quote by Toto is rather unwarranted.

Well, that was weird. Maybe Hamilton wasn't focused and didn't even see Grosjean? I mean, had he accelerated a bit later Grosjean might have crashed on him. I dunno, it's weird.

I should take a better look at what happened, as I couldn't watch the Quali and all I've seen is @F1GTR's video.

If not the textbook definition of a block, it was certainly a move that forced Grosjean to brake earlier than normal. Lewis is on the outside and appears to be letting Romain through, and then suddenly cuts in front as Grosjean enters the braking zone. It's like Hamilton either wasn't looking in his mirrors at all, or freaked out about the idea of getting caught behind Grosjean on the next lap and gunned it last second. Drivers have been penalized for less in the past.

However as we saw with the Vettel incident in Baku the FIA have have a rather more lenient set of rules for championship contenders, so I'm not surprised there's no penalty.

Going by what I've seen gets a penalty that looks like Hamilton should get one.

That angle makes it look better then it is but any race driver would of had to do something to react to what Hamilton did and it would of cost some time.

I imagine the guy from Godzilla is in a back room at FIA headquarters and when these things happen they go to him and all he says is "Let. Them. Race." And that's what happens in my mind.

I suppose it's like blue flags - the slower driver has to move aside, but sooner or later they have to take the corner. You cannot ask them to compromise their own lap for the sake of a driver on a flying lap, but at the same time they cannot impede another driver. Since they're on an out-lap, the responsibility rests with them to do it in a responsible manner. Why was it necessary for Hamilton to slow down that much? He had plenty of clear air in front of him; there was no danger that he would encounter someone ahead of him. And why didn't Mercedes warn him that Grosjean was approaching? They have a driver tracker - all the teams do - and could easily let him know that a car was closing in.

Great lap though.

What's the "countdown to 1000" hashtag that I keep seeing on the trackside signage? I've noticed it around Woodcote and the old pit straight. I'm guessing that it's the countdown to the one thousandth Grand Prix. But if so, which Grand Prix will be number one thousand?
